Displaying all series of a book is important.
Use case patron: I'm looking for a book in the Tiffany Aching series by Terry Pratchett. There are four books in that series, but all four titles are ALSO part of the larger Discworld series. Knowing a title is part of a larger series can help me find other books I'd enjoy.
Use case staff member: Since I know only one series displays in Vega, I want to make sure I choose the right series. Currently, I have to delete a series to know which one will display. As a cataloger, I DEEPLY dislike altering records for display in a discovery layer. If I knew that Vega would always display the first listed 490 field, that would be helpful, but as it currently is, our workaround is to remove a series heading if there are two. Normally this isn't a problem if it's something like 'Thorndike junior large print series' but if the series statements are both relevant, staff are stuck making decisions they shouldn't have to make to fit into a discovery layer.Elaine Sloan supported this idea ·

Reordering facets by site is incredibly valuable in consortia as we would prefer location on top, but even standalone sites may prefer a different order. People want to be able to see what is available at their location, (branch or site) and finding the location facet near the bottom doesn't help save the user time, and can be frustrating.

This is great! Use case: I'm at home and want to check out the latest book by VE Schwab. When I do a search, Vega automatically assumes that I want to search at my registered library location, but my registered library is not my local library. The search results say there are items checked in, but I can't get to them. So I apply the location filter to my search for the nearest branch, and see that while there isn't a book format currently available at the nearest location, there is a large print. Removing options that are not available at the location being searched helps me as a customer know if there are available formats, and if there are NOT available items for my search--saving me a fruitless walk to the library.
This is doubly important for consortia, because it will help the user save time by knowing what's available at their closest location.Elaine Sloan supported this idea ·

This report is considered a bug and we will be including the fix of it with the relevancy improvements and updates that we plan to make this year.

This should be a bug fix; this error is almost impossible to explain to the public and causes mistrust in our library systems because it exists.

REQUEST: Note fields include useful information that is meant to be displayed to users. This information helps users decide if the resource described is relevant to their needs.
A subtitle that appears only on the cover of a book might only appear in a 500 note. A note might specify that a resource is a reprint of an earlier publication or give the original title of a translation, just to name a few examples.
Most notes are repeatable, so all instances of these MARC fields should display when there are multiple. Currently, only the first 505 (Contents note) and the 520 fields display.
FEATURE DETAILS
Job Story: As a Vega User, I can view all notes from the bibliographic 5xx metadata for a give edition of a work.
Acceptance Criteria:
Index and display all 5xx field data from MARC instance records in the details popup of editions table.
Data will appear under a Notes heading in order. From original idea: https://ideas.iii.com/forums/951766-vega-discover/suggestions/46841806-display-more-note-5xx-fields

Even if these 5xx fields were only displayed once a specific edition of an item was chosen from a rollup, they should still be displayed. These notes are vital for access, selection, and general information of customers searching for the material that will fit their needs, and can be necessary to differentiate between versions of works with the same title.

REQUEST: Use the same, logically chosen bibID for the display of all Work Level Metadata. (Note: this means rollup logic will be improved, and Vega will prefer the newest edition of physical formats of works rather than econtent records)
FEATURE DETAILS:
Job Story:
As a Vega Librarian I can expect that all metadata and enriched content displayed for a work is derived from the same edition as the cover image (based upon logic that prefers the newest edition of physical manifestations of works).Acceptance Criteria:
Link cover images in search results on click to FRC.
The ISBN selection order based on formats is currently books, ebooks, large print books, audiobook, eaudiobook, blu-ray, dvd, and any remaining instances choosing the one with latest pub date. Ebooks tend to have terrible data and should not be the second choice for the ISBN of truth.
USE books, large print books, audiobook, ebooks, eaudiobook, blu-ray, dvd, any remaining instances choosing the one with latest pub date.
Apply our ISBN selection logic for bookcover images to the following:
ISBN sent to Syndetics for Widget data
ISBN used to determine the WORK display details
primaryAuthor
mainTitle
publication date | language
Summary display
Series, use the data from the chosen instance only. Do not display a series gathered from a different format edition if the work instance doesn't have a viable series field.Modified from original idea: https://ideas.iii.com/forums/951766-vega-discover/suggestions/46691467-ability-to-create-custom-rollup-rules

Hi Samantha,
At the time we submitted this request I don't think the feature was implemented. Now that it is, we would like it to be further refined as the display in the Innovative app--where the place in line is given as [x] out of [x], for example, 7 out of 9. I do like the incorporation of the status in the holds view. Hope this helps. Thanks! An error occurred while saving the comment Elaine Sloan commented
This is a feature currently in the PAC that customers really like and we would like to see implemented in Vega as a quality of life improvement.

Our consortium libraries would also use this feature; we feel like it's an important option for the kids' catalog.

This would absolutely be an improvement! Since it's not always a 1:1 mapping, I would love to know what is and isn't being mapped and where it's being pulled from in the bibliographic record. The bib rollup documentation helps, but it's not a mapping, and I think that would help solve or explain a lot of the differences to staff between the way Vega works and the way the ILS works.

Of all the on-order ideas in the exchange as of 3.28.25, this is the one that would help my library the most. We are like the example listed above--we only have on-order items and not bibs, but I would prefer the work rollup card of a title that's on order to say 'on-order' and not 'unavailable'. This detracts people from placing holds and is frustrating to our selectors, who work hard to order popular materials before they are released so they can create holds queues.
