This would be useful in for example adding a specific field to records loaded using a particular import profile that we can later use to create a list of the records for example, brief records from vendors that we need to later update.

Currently, bib bulk change does not allow deleting fields with specific data or deleting duplicate fields. For example, we can only delete the first instance, last instance or all instances of a MARC tag but we cannot delete a tag that contains specific data. This means in our consortium when weeding electronic resources like Kanopy for one library and not the others, we cannot tell Polaris to delete the 856s that contain one library’s URL and not the 856s for other libraries. We have to export the records out of Polaris, use MarcEdit to delete the 856 for the library then reload the records back to Polaris.
We also cannot delete tags with duplicate data in bulk edit but have to delete the field from one record at a time or export to MarcEdit, delete the field then reload the records. For example, when records are merged, some fields like the 996 we use for our custom TOM are merged onto the new record, so we end up with duplicates.

It will be helpful if Bib Bulk change included the ability to delete a tag containing specific data and ability to delete duplicate fields.

In addition to being able to add records to a record set using ISBNs and control numbers, it would be helpful to also be able to use other fields like 024 for records that do not have ISBNs like DVDs and Blu-rays or use 035 for records that do not have either the ISBN or 024 like those from eresources like Kanopy which we can use to create a record set of titles that need to be weeded.

We are new consortium using Polaris/Vega and are running into this issue very often. It seems by default Vega rolls up titles even when there is not enough information to make an exact work match for example in single word titles without authors like travel guides (e.g. Austria), or movies (e.g. Aladdin), The recommendation from support is to add additional information to the title in the bib record to make them unique. Some of these changes are not within national /international cataloging standards and just mess up the records, plus it is also not feasible to retroactively or proactively do so an all titles that are or could be affected. It would be better to by default not roll up the titles unless there is enough information to make an exact work match or use additional parameters to improve the matches.

Home branch and Hold Limited to Pickup at are not part of 852/949 Embedded holdings field/MARC subfield mapping in import profiles, so we normally use the item template associated with the import profile to load the missing fields. We are using the Automatic MARC import via FTP (the equivalent of One-Click MARC) process linked to suppliers of which we can only have one per library since on the vendors side (Ingram, Midwest and Brodart) there is only one FTP directory per library which is linked to the supplier record. This means when we load records for multi-branch libraries, we can only set one home branch so the multi branch libraries have to go back and update the items that belong to the branch that is not in the template.
Also we can only choose one option either check or uncheck the box for Hold Limited to Pickup at so if a library would like to have the box checked for some of the items and not others, they have to go back to the items and check or uncheck the box after loading the records.

We like to request an enhancement to Include Home branch and Hold Limited to Pickup at as part of embedded holdings subfield mapping in 949 or 852 so they can be included in grids on the vendors side.

This will be very useful for us as we are having to manually add dummy barcodes to the on order items for our DVDs and Blu-ray sets for them to be eligible for volume holds because some of our libraries separate the discs and other don't so we add the disc numbers or complete set to the volume fields respectively.

This is a very big problem for us in consortia because the chance of a bib record being open by someone else is very high especially for popular titles that everyone is ordering, cataloging or placing holds. Adding the edit button or not locking the records if the person accessing them does not have edit permission would be very helpful.

I agree, this would be very useful especially for libraries that just migrated to Polaris and are learning the system, the chance of making a mistake is very high and being able to unrelease the PO gives them a chance to make corrections.

We are a new Polaris consortia customer and this has been a problem for our libraries especially because we use the same bib records for different bindings. If a library wants to order a paperback and a hardcover version of the same title and both ISBNs are in the bib record in Polaris, the last ISBN will be picked for both line items so they have to fix one of them in the PO before releasing. In addition to the suggestion to Include the ISBN/UPC/vendor ID (for preorder DVDs and Blu-rays where UPC is not yet available) it would save a lot of steps and reduce chances of mistakes if all the fields required for PO creation including the supplier are included in the 970 and then those fields are used to automatically create the PO (similar to how 949/852 create an item record)
