Option to require selection of a Collection when adding item records
We would like the ability to made Collection a required field when adding item records. While we can instruct all of our members to have Collections selected as part of their templates, there is still the possibility of forgetting and having items that are missing a collection. Having a collection at minimum, and ideally collection and shelf location combination set on each item greatly helps wayfinding for the patrons, and we'd like Polaris to allow us to enforce selection of at least a Collection. Make cutting and pasting fields from OCLC seamless
Currently cutting and pasting from OCLC Connexion Client into Polaris is cumbersome. Allow for complete fields and their delimiters to paste into Polaris seamlessly.

Ability to perform a full re-index on a set of bib records using Bulk Change
There are times when we could easily fix bib records via SQL but may run into issues where the index may no longer be valid and the updated bib records may not appear or be omitted in search results. Instead of requesting for a FULL database re-index, we could easily group the involved records into a Record Set and use Bulk Change with a "Miscellaneous" tab with the option "Re-index Bibliographic Records".

Leap add option to add fixed fields via bibliographic bulk change
Add the ability to add a 006 or 007 field to records via bibliographic bulk change in Leap. Leap has the ability to edit existing fixed fields via bulk change and the staff client offers the ability to add a new 006 or 007 via bulk change, so this would be part of bringing Leap into parity with the staff client. Provide an option in Leap to save bibliographic records without making changes first
I don't know if this is already planned for a future version; I didn't see it on the current roadmap, though. It's really important for cataloguers that they be able to save a bib record without having to make a change first, particularly for provisional bib records. The only way to make a provisional record become final is to resave it, and currently, Leap requires you to make a change in any bib record before saving it. I know the duplicate detection without saving is now available, and that's a great feature - but allowing at least provisional bib records…

Warning dialog when making bulk changes to item records that are open
In the staff client if you accidentally have an item record open during a bulk change that includes that item, it will provide an error after the change happens and the change won't happen to the item record that was left open. There should be a warning that alerts the user to close the item record before they can make the bulk change.

Keyboard shortcuts for MARC editor
The ability to create keyboard shortcuts to insert (paste) pre-defined text. Prior to the advanced marc editor added in Polaris 7.6, our catalogers were able to use the program QuickPaste in which we had lines and lines of pre-defined text often used in creating bib records. This was a huge time saver and this no longer works with marc editor.
Some examples of text we programmed are as follows:

More granular permissions for deleting items/bibs
In Polaris, a single delete of a bib/item record will result in that record being 'marked for deletion.' It is no longer visible in the PAC, but is still visible in Polaris with a Deleted status. Deleting a record in Deleted status, or what we've termed 'double-delete,' will result in the record being fully purged from the database.
Sometimes, staff will delete a record and go back to it to verify the deletion. They see it's still visible in Polaris (missing the Deleted status) and delete it a second time. This accidental purging results in no longer being able to…

Bib record conversion from AACR2 to RDA
It would be a real timesaver if Polaris could automatically convert AACR2 records to RDA records upon import. Even if only partial changes could be made, it would be a big help to our catalogers.

Validate controlled thesauri (650 or 655 _7 $2)
Adding the $2 validation opens the door to using so many controlled thesauri, like Spanish headings via Queens and National Library of Spain, OLAC's video game headings, Homosaurus' headings, and many more that would make searching easier for customers and staff by providing access points that mimic how they talk about their interests and information needs.
It would be a step closer towards inclusion by using various existing vocabularies that institutions want to use, unlock more potential of the ILS, as well as improve authority maintenance overall.

Display more previous borrowers on item circulation view
On an item record, you can currently only see the information about the current borrower and the most recent previous borrower. This should be increased to at least 3, so that in the case of a question about condition or missing parts, we have more than 1 patron we can ask.

Please add in cataloguing macros - creation/editing of, as well as use of - into Leap. Our cataloguers use these regularly, and it's an important step in moving us away from the Polaris client.

Item template use in Leap
Currently in Leap (we're on 7.8), in order to take full advantage of an item template, you have to click on Actions--Create Item (within the bib record), then add your barcode & select the template you want to use, and then click Save. If you don't click on Save, the template only populates some of the template information. It doesn't change any of the call number fields or the number of renewals, even when the option to use template values is checked.

Add Custom Data Fields to Item Records
Patron records have 5 UDFs and 10 Custom Data Fields – item records have none of these. As a result, many libraries end up doing some weird stuff with the Name of Piece and Temporary Shelf Location. This idea would add 10 or so custom item record fields that libraries can choose how they would like to use.
Ideally, fields would be capable of multiple data types including freetext, Boolean, date, or numeric. In a perfect world, it could also support a drop down list like the UDFs! The fields would also be searchable in the find tool, just like…

Control column display in item record history in Leap
Allow staff to customize the display of columns in the item record history, as they can in the display of search results. For example, our staff have pointed out that for each action the item's assigned branch displays prominently, but it is less relevant that the "location" (i.e., the branch where the history action took place). They would find it much clearer and easier to use if they could control the order of those columns, and set it as Date / Location / User/WKS / Status / Action / Assigned Branch.

Change How Deleted Record Sets are Presented in Linked Records
Today if a record set is deleted it's still visible in the list of record sets a specific record is a part of (either on the Record Sets tab in Leap, or list of Linked Record Sets in the client). However there's no clear indicator that it's a deleted record set, which can cause confusion for staff. It would be helpful if the Record Status column was visible, and if there was an option to not display deleted record sets (ideally the setting could be applied at various organizational levels). Custom cover images should show up in Leap
We use ChiliFresh as a source for cover images and we also use their service to upload custom images for missing covers, kits, etc. After the MARC record is updated with the custom image tag, the new image shows up in the PowerPAC immediately. However, it never shows up in Leap. Leap is already pulling images from ChiliFresh (as well as other sources) for the cover images in Leap's item and bib records. It's really weird that it doesn't pull from the same source to get the custom image attached to the record.

Add series info when linking
Currently, if I want to add series information for a book in the item record when I link it, I would need to put it in the volume field. It'd be nice if there was an easy way to indicate if a book is part of a series and where it falls in the series without it creating a super long call number.
