Ability to create Library Cards with specified purposes
One of our member libraries recently asked us to add this as a possible enhancement request to provide a more specific use for certain library cards. They stated, "We have been discussing the potential of providing internet-only cards as an option to our patrons. Ideally they would be used to access our computers and digital resources, but would not be used to borrow any physical items such as books. We feel there are many patrons who would benefit from this. Is this a possibility?"

I agree with the comments about patron codes. That would be our recommendation.

I think you can already do this using different patron codes, as Eleanor described.

We have a similar card type/patron code called Virtual Services. We restrict loan and hold limits to all material types in the Patron/Material Type Loan Limit Blocks table.
