Enhance patron duplication check via PACREG application
Currently when someone applies through our Vega link (which goes to PowerPAC) for a library card and their name matches an existing cardholder, they get the following error message: "A patron with this name is already registered. Please contact the library for clarification."
It would be helpful if other fields could be cross-checked for duplicates, not just the first and last names. We receive numerous reports of this monthly from staff across the consortium, but we have no sense of how often it's actually happening.

Hi Gabrielle, thanks for pointing that out--we hadn't seen that option. Just requiring a birthdate may be the answer, and it's not a bad piece to require anyway.

There is a patron services parameter "Duplication detection options" that allows you to configure additional fields to use for patron duplicate detection. Have you tried using those? Is this enhancement request to add additional options to that configuration?
