Allow volume level holds on serials with a mix of items created in cataloging module and those created in serials module
In our consortium, libraries catalog magazines differently. Some just attach items to the serials bib records using the cataloging module while others use the serials module and generate items during check-in. However, it seems that we cannot place volume holds in any of the serials records if there is a mix of items that migrated from Sierra or created in cataloging and those created in serials module even though the items have volume information.
The only option we have would be to create duplicate bib records for each serial so libraries using serials module can use one record while those using cataloging module can use the other record which is not ideal.
We would like to request an enhancement where items attached to serials bib records and have volume information are eligible to fill volume holds regardless of whether they were created in serials or cataloging module.

Hi Judy,
Is the configuration for item level requests set to "All" at your library?
For reference this is found in Polaris System Administration > Settings > Holds options: Requests (screenshot attached).
I ask because that would allow for item level holds for both integrated serials (libraries using the Serial Holding Records) and non-integrated (adding items directly onto bibliographic records that are cataloged as serials). -

This is a very important enhancement for us. It would work well if this were a setting so that some customers could have it work as designed currently and some (like us) could just have it allow the holds regardless of how the items were created.
