  1. In the i-tiva 3.0 dial-in process, there are menu navigation issues caused by a SIP2 Due Date (AH field) formatting issue. These issues cause the dial-in process to fail.

    In SIP2 message 18 (Item Information), Polaris is currently returning the Due Date in the following format:

    DD/MM/YYYY HH:MM:SS

    Because the SIP2 standard does not define or enforce a required date format, i-tiva relies on vendor-compatible parsing. i-tiva has confirmed that this specific format is not parsed correctly and results in call-flow failures.

    i-tiva supports the following date formats, any of which would resolve the issue:
    • DD/MM/YYYY
    • D-M-YY

  2. A patron doesn't have their library card number on hand, can there be a way to change the circ status to lost from the item record so the replacement cost can be automatically be charged to the current patron's record? At least from the owning library's side, I understand messing with anything in the 'Details' tab shouldn't be done by another library. Hopefully, it can be done with less hoops to jump through by going through the item history and making sure to select the correct patron or hitting any of the other tabs.

We are removing overdue fines for our Children and Teen collections and wanted to enable auto-renew for the collection codes that are related to the Children and Teen collections, but realized auto-renew can only be enabled on an organizational level. It would be great if there was the ability to enable it on a collection level, especially for children's materials as, I'm sure we're all familiar, children are really bad at remembering to renew or return

  5. In Polaris System Administration, there is existing functionality to suppress UDF 1–5 in the Web App (Leap), which allow the fields to be written to, but prevents staff from viewing or editing them.
    We would like to request that the same suppression functionality be extended to Patron Custom Data Fields. Currently, the only available option is to enable these fields, which simply turns them on or off. This lacks the flexibility we need.

    Adding suppression capability to Patron Custom Data Fields would greatly enhance our ability to manage sensitive or system-used data more effectively.

  7. Our system uses over 20 patron codes but less than half are used when first registering an account. We'd appreciate the ability to suppress some patron codes from the patron code dropdown menu in the NEW patron workform (but not when displaying an existing patron account that has already been saved and had a patron ID assigned). This would cut down on staff accidentally selecting the incorrect patron code when registering accounts.

  8. Staff would like to be able to bulk change a patron's pickup branch for selected (or all) holds on the patron's account. Be they holds already trapped, suspended or active. We often have patrons that move from one part of the area to another and need to change their holds to reflect their new pickup branch. Having to change one hold at a time is tedious.

  9. Post OverDue notices to the database without printing them. We have libraries that are not regularly printing and posting to the database overdue notices so items move in the system to missing and withdrawn before some libraries ever send out a notice. Some libraries haven't sent them in 1-3 years. So, I want to post them and then email a pdf on the overdues automatically on the first of every month.

  10. Polaris currently (as of 7.8) offers some limited customization of which fields in the patron registration form in Leap are required to save a record.

    When the "Name on ID" fields were introduced several releases ago (7.2?) we were excited. However, the way the feature was implemented meant that the primary name fields were now the "preferred name" fields and were required to be filled out in order to save a record. However, a record could be saved without recording a name on ID.

  11. Provide options to allow patrons to toggle showing images/details for a simpler view within the PowerPAC. Ideally, this would be available regardless of login status.
    E.g., "Show images" and "Show details" in the search screens (simplified to title, author as well as the buttons on the right for Availability, Full Display, Place Request, Add to My List )

  14. Please allow the checkout screen in Leap to be sorted/alphabetized by clicking any of the header columns, Title in particular. This is currently something that can be done in the Polaris client, and is useful for library staff when checking out large amounts of books to patrons who would like an alphabetized list of what they've just checked out. The columns in Leap appear to be clickable for sorting, but they currently are not.

  15. This is somewhat of an add-on to other improvement requests to the multiple holds feature. We would like to have an option for bib-level multiple holds. We have noticed that when teachers or book club leaders are placing the multiple holds and assigned to an item-level hold, they might get routed to a member library that doesn't frequently check their requests.   16. We would like to have an option where non-resident patron types have a blocking condition for e-resources, but it only limits e-resources. We would like for them to be able to still manage their online accounts and renew physical items, so the patron-initiated blocking condition does not work. Right now, that can only be done in CloudLibrary through SIP, not API.

    I think this idea needs some clarification. Are you using a non-resident patron code? If so, we do return the PatronCodeID in our PatronValidate API. I wonder if this is a situation where Cloudlibrary has infrastructure in place to support checking the patron code via SIP, but not yet via the Polaris API.

    It would be extremely useful to have a “Show SQL” button available for both ad-hoc and saved reports in SimplyReports.

    Background and Problem:
    There are currently well-known workarounds that allow users to view or reconstruct the SQL generated by a report, but they’re tedious and time-consuming.   18. We use both the barcode field and username field interchangeably for patron access at our express checkout units. Currently, the unit only recognizes barcodes when they are scanned from the barcode field. We need the system to also recognize and process barcodes stored in the username field when scanned.
    For example, our school students have their student IDs stored as their primary barcode in Polaris, with their former library barcodes stored in the username field.   19. Please add in the ability to create and edit publication pattern templates within Leap. As my consortium shifts to using only Leap, I am discovering small things that seem to be missing, which make it difficult for staff to fully switch over to Leap. One of those things is the ability to create a publication pattern template. As of version 7.8, this is something that still has to be done in the toolbar (https://documentation.iii.com/polaris/7.8/Default.htm#PolarisStaffHelp/Serials/PSsetup/Creating_Publication_Pattern_Templates.htm). You can use publication pattern templates within Leap, but you can't currently create a new one or edit existing ones.

  20. When using the Leap filter we would like to have option to select 'not equal to / <>' when dealing with shelf location filter.

    We usually use things like collection and call number of what items to include when doing inventory. We would like to exclude items that are located on certain shelves. As we start putting more items into a Display shelf location we dont want to sweep any of those items up into our search.
