Optional, Customizable Link / Button for Online Card Signup in the Log In Pop-up
This idea came from a journey mapping exercise at IUG - a non-card holder attempts to use the library for the first time, makes their way to a library website, uses the search box to find an item, and locates it in the results. They select the Get It / Place Hold button and are presented with a request to log in. With no card, they're at an impasse. An optional and customizable link / button that points back to the Polaris / Sierra Online Sign Up, 3rd Party Online Registration, or a page explaining the necessary steps to obtain a library card, would give the user some kind of resolution.

An obvious path to providing acceess to critical service elements (like registration) is an important element to making processes simpler. Put the button where they need it.
