Item Status Mapping - Availability
Hello,
We would like to have additional Availability options for our descriptions. Currently it is a binary available/unavailable, but we would like an On-Order option for materials that are on-order.

Since migration in 2025, our patrons have been asking for the option to quickly find and identify On Order materials (especially for newly published materials, not necessarily reprints/reordering)
Our showcases for "New" (saved search) includes those materials, but the On Order status is behind at least one click (on location name, or the edition table) as it does not appear on the tab's status ("tabsOnOrder": "On Order")
Including On Order in the availability options would significantly improve the patron/staff browsing and searching experience.

For a huge portion of patrons, it is of the utmost importance to be able to place holds on items that are on order. Many of our items have longer on-order periods in Sierra, so having this option for patrons in Vega is crucial. Not having it is a major and regular disruption to staff workflow.

This is a high-priority request for our libraries. Because the system does not ingest and display traditional order records, we urgently need a mechanism to show that an item is on order and available for patrons to place on hold.
