  2. Currently, when you renew an item, your checked out date updates to the date you renewed. Patrons have asked that it show the original check out date. So an item checked out originally in November and renewed in December would show the new due date, renewals remaining, and the original due date (not the date item was renewed). I suppose it could show renewal date, so long as original checkout date was available to see somewhere on the account (patron view).

  3. Our customers want the ability to export their reading history. There should be options in the format it comes out in, including csv/excel.

They want this because they keep their own records due to our titles getting deleted after withdrawal, so their Vega list is no longer accurate for all their reading.

  4. We would like a refinement facet that uses the ITEM LEVEL "material types" from Polaris that are more specific than the current bib level Types of Material used in the Format Facet.

  5. When I check to see how many copies of an Overdrive title the library has, you can only see how many holds have been placed on that title, but not how many copies there are. This causes confusion because it seems like the library has no copies of that title. In the attached picture example, you can see that the 'Atomic Habits' eAudiobook has 48 holds on it, but it says there are no copies. There are actually 5 copies. This issue is true with every Overdrive title, except for when the title is available to check out.

  6. 690 $v is currently ignored upon ingest, causing Local Subject entries to disregard subheadings in Concept displays. We're attempting to create showcases based on saved concept searches for some of our local collections, rather than needing to manually updated showcases as new items are added. Subcollections with subject heading like Diversity Collection -- Asian/Pacific Islander literature, Diversity Collection -- Latinx literature, and Diversity Collection -- LGBTQIA+ literature all display under the concept Diversity Collection in Discover.

  7. Vega only displays the first series tag (490, 800|t, 830) in a bibliographic record. There are many scenarios where a title may have multiple series tags for good reason. ALL series tags should display. A work may be titled the Boxcar children collection 3 and contain various volumes of the Boxcar children series, each tagged individually. To only display the first series tag (vol. 89) is misleading. There are also many instances of a popular numbered series also being part a publisher genre series (example for Iced by Felix Francis: Francis novels ; bk. 10 and Thorndike Press large print…

  8. We have several customers that use genre headings (655 field) to find materials. For example, "video recordings for the hearing impaired" helps deaf and hard-of-hearing customers locate DVDs with closed captioning. This is not a searchable field in Vega and there does not seem to be a way to find this information anywhere on the record.

  9. We would like to have shelf location added as a facet in Vega in addition to collections. We use shelf locations for genres like Mystery, Urban Fiction, Science Fiction, and Graphic Novels that aren't reflected in our collection codes. There is currently no way for patrons to search by shelf location in Vega, so it's very frustrating for patrons trying to look for just Graphic Novels, for example. We would rather have shelf locations added as a facet than have to change all of our shelf locations to collections.

  12. Sierra libraries that are currently using the cumbersome ipsso integrated login page have to keep using that page if they move to Vega. Polaris libraries can use a unique to Vega login page/widget that needs little to no configuration. (Correct me if I'm wrong about that.) We would have loved to ditch our crusty old ipsso page and not have to worry about it anymore when we bring Vega online but as a Sierra library we don't have that option.

  13. Clearer wording for the "Request Failed" box that displays when a patron attempts to place a hold on an item for which they are already on the hold list (this is prohibited in our implementation). This version of the Request Failed box says "couldn't find suitable edition for the request." Despite the new green alert bar indicating the hold status of the item, this error box wording would not likely be intuitive to our patrons.

The version of the Request Failed box that displays when the item is currently on the hold shelf for that patron says "request denied -…

  14. The 008 is the field we would prefer to use for the language facet and no other field. The 008 only field is consistently used in all our records. We stopped using the 240 fields in bib records, because that caused problems in Vega. The only time we use the 041 is when a title is bilingual. It would be a huge amount of work to update all our bib records. It is complicated how it currently works, and search results are confusing.

  16. Right now, when you click on the library info icon in the top right, it seems to default to whichever library we have most recently been editing on the admin interface. It should default to the library site that you are actually on. as it is, the patron must use the drop down to find their library. I am sure others have made this request.

  19. When you click on a subject heading that appears under "Topics" on a resource page to find other similar resources, it would be better for the results to display as a search results list so that you can further refine the list.

Staff often start with a particular title, then look for appropriate subjects to link to other relevant resources for a patron and they would like to be able to apply other filters (particularly Availability and Location but other facets would be useful too) to refine the list of resources.

Currently, when you click on a heading, you are…

  20. We'd like to have ability to change the mapping of the Audn: Target audience (BKS, COM, REC, SCO, VIS: 008/22; 006/05) to a specific age group facet. For example, many catalog records have a blank assigned for target audience. Search results will include these records but they fall out when the "general" facet is selected. We do not want to manipulate these records to "g" when [blank] is a valid option. Also, we'd like the ability to group the target audience a (preschool), b (primary), and c (pre-adolescent) under j (juvenile) without manipulating the catalog records in our database.
