  1. We would like to have to option for claims returned items to automatically go to Lost after a set time and adding bill to the patron.

  2. With 7.1, Polaris administrative settings can now be accessed on the web, which includes PAPI Key Management. However, the PAPI keys can be accessed and changed today by anyone with the permission 'Access Administration - Allow' (which gives basic access to system admin settings).

    We give some of our staff access to admin settings, for activities like adding workstations and updating branch hours. As it stands these users can access and change the API settings through web-admin, but they should be secured so only systems administrators have access.   3. Currently, incoming requests are assigned from the INN-Reach central server to a specific copy in the catalog. If for some reason that item cannot be found or used, staff must undertake a lengthy multi-step process to transfer the item-level hold to another copy.

    Keeping the hold at the bib level and letting Polaris assign it to an item will reduce the time it takes to transfer INN-Reach holds between copies will save a lot of staff time in communicating and processing, and further will reduce delays in getting the request fulfilled and sent out.

  4. When deduplicating hold requests, Polaris looks at title, author, and material type. Therefore, it doesn't allow our customers to place holds on the same video game title for different consoles.

    Please also consider UPC during the hold request duplicate detection process.

When using the filter box in a Leap workform (for example, in Reading History, Out, holds or really anywhere you have ability to filter a view), please add an indicator of how many items are caught in the filter. For ex. a customer has 85 items checked out and wants to know how many DVDs they still have out. Typing DVD into filter reduces the list but doesn't tell you how many DVDs there are. The only option is count them.

  6. Opening Day Collection orders are created when large numbers of new books and videos are needed to either create an entirely new collection for a branch or to partially replace a collection. Large orders tend to produce large quantities of invoices; for this reason, streamlining all possible aspects of invoice payments is essential to help expedite payments for these orders. It would be very helpful to all libraries if Polaris offered functionality to assign a specific cataloging fund to Opening Day Collection orders.   7. The Damaged feature in Polaris 7.5 was implemented without a permission to enable libraries to turn it off if they prefer their existing procedure. Because we can't turn it off and we have several hundred staff members, many new, all of whom do not have all our procedures memorized, some of the staff now use the Damage feature. This means that we now need a report to catch these transactions and extra staff time to undo them. To try to mitigate, we changed the string "Damaged" to "Do not use".   10. When you are in the Request Manager on Leap, it is possible to select multiple titles and then cancel them all at once - there is no additional confirmation.

    This bulk action can be hard to undo.

    It would be helpful to have a warning dialog box pop-up when staff are attempting this bulk action. Also labelling the "proceed" button as "Cancel Holds" would be helpful as an extra step to ensure that staff are taking the proper action.

  12. We're working with a vendor to import patron records into Polaris as part of a program to give every student of the local school district a library card. As part of the arrangement, these student cards will be exempt from billing.

    Unfortunately, there is no means to check the "exclude from" overdues, billing, etc. boxes in the API, so this will have to be done manually every time a new batch of students is imported. Please make it possible to modify these options via API.

  13. Add a link generator to the Record Set application. There's way too much room for error in expecting staff to create a custom URL every time we need a record set. It would make sense to have it near the Export function under the Actions menu. Thanks for considering!

  15. Currently, when the If patron is blocked: Block in PAC/SIP option under the Staff Client and PAC tab of the Hold Options parameter is enabled, patrons are only blocked from placing a request if they exceed the hold limits for their Patron Code.

    We would like for this blocking to also include the 2nd level fine amount, similar to how their request would be blocked in the staff client/Leap when the Block in Staff Client option is enabled.

Create step-by-step instructions and documentation for Polaris Inventory Manager; how to install it, set things up, using record sets, etc. There really is nothing available that we can share with our libraries; there is a webinar on inventory, but it does not really discuss install and set-up.
    The same documentation for inventory via check-in would also be greatly appreciated.

  18. Currently, the PAC override password, available in Profiles -> PAC -> Patron Access Options -> Log In tab, is a static, set and forget password. Often, that password is indeed forgotten because it's not used all that often. However, when it is used, there's a good reason for it. I believe this remains useful functionality, but I also believe that a static, universal patron access password is a security issue for patrons and staff alike.
