Send out account expiration reminders as part of the eContent integration.
There can be accounts that are expired and are still able to check out ebooks. Expired accounts are no longer valid and should be blocking at least in the integration function between the ebook vendor and Polaris.
If this isn't possible, can the checkout action trigger an email notice to the customer to have their library account renewed or reviewed.
This should happen each day an integrated eContent transaction occurs.
Keeping the account up to date will prevent the account from being closed or purged.

We are purging long expired accounts and I am finding accounts that have ebooks checked out. The due dates vary and are within the loaning period. Vega is not live yet, so these checkouts would have to be Overdrive and Hoopla. I see them on the accounts, so I believe the checkout information comes from the vendor and from the PAC. Either way the transaction ends up on the Polaris customer record. So, I was thinking, if that transaction is written could it trigger a reminder notice to renew the account if it is expired?

Can you clarify if the allowed check outs are happening in PAC, Vega or the vendor software? All of the above?
I ask because I know with econtent there are situations where Polaris controls the authentication (bypasses the vendor) and situations where the vendor controls (based on information provided via API or SIP), Understanding the scope of the issue will help us detemine where changes are needed for a consistent experience.
