  1. When customers are in their account portal looking at holds, they want to see the total number of holds as well as where they are in the queue (i.e. 5 of 35 holds).

  2. Patrons cannot freeze a hold when there are no other patrons in the queue (see image below). In the July 2026 catalogue upgrade the original ticket for this was closed by Innovative, but the behaviour was not changed.

Ideally, if all holds in the queue are frozen (or there are no holds), patrons should be able to freeze a hold.

Library users need to manage their holds. We do not want them to need to go to the circulation desk to freeze a hold because they cannot do this in the catalogue.

  3. Currently, when a fine payment is submitted via Vega's Account Portal (utilizing PayPal's PayFlow Pro), the user is returned to the library's root Vega homepage. No confirmation or success message is displayed. This issue needs to be corrected.

Currently, the payment process feel incomplete and is a poor User Experience; there's no indication of whether or not the payment was successful.

  4. Issue: The "Manage Hold" button is hidden outside the text box on the mobile view. Users can't see it unless they accidentally scroll horizontally.

Request: 1. Wrap the button to the next line so it stays inside the visible screen, OR
    2. Extend the container/add an arrow to show that users need to scroll.

  5. Since 2 different books with the same title (i.e. 12 days of Christmas) are likely to have identical 245 and 246 fields, require additional matches in order to roll up the titles, such as ISBN, publisher, publication date, etc.

Nothing would rollup if we matched on ISBN. Publication date likewise would prevent every edition of Jane Eyre from rolling up. Vega is a work level catalog and will not make changes that would revert it to a bibliographic record level catalog. Please note that we also do not currently match on 246.

There are plans for cataloger permissions to manage rollup problems that I hope will meet your needs in the future.

  6. Currently, the passcode reset email is not editable and is not available in any languages other than English. Please add support for custom email text in other languages.
    Reasoning:
-Discover is clearly intended to offer customers the option to support multiple linguistic groups--see the extensive language string customization and support for a large number of languages in Discover itself. If this is a feature Discover wants to make available to customers, multi-language support needs to be throughout the product, not just in some areas.
-The "Patrons are permitted to reset passcode" toggle is global, so customers that want to turn…

  8. Allow to limit holds pickup only to item location.
This is similar to what can be done in Sierra using the Home pickup parameter in the loan rule. Vega does not offer this option and does not apply this value from Sierra loan rules.

This is not a Vega Discover problem. This is a Sierra API problem. If a title cannot be picked up anywhere other than the item home location Sierra should be telling us this. We recently added a feature that presents a second step in the hold workflow when this is configured correctly in Sierra and an item can only be picked up at a certain set of restricted collections.

If things are not working as you expect I recommend you first speak to support to check your Sierra settings and if this can't be resolved there put in an enhancement for the Sierra APIs.

  9. The "Preferred Contact Method" section in Account Portal displays a phone number with "Home phone" or "Mobile phone" prepended to it if the patron is signed up to receive phone calls or text messages. However, the "Home phone" and "Mobile phone" prefix don't correlate to whether the patron is receiving calls or texts, it's determined solely by which phone number field is being used in the ILS or by the order in which the patron has added/removed phone numbers in Account Portal.

Please update how this information is displayed so that patrons can tell which notification method they are actually…

  10. It would be nice if records extracted from OAI sources could be linked to an existing location. Now there is no way to tell where is from every result from OAI.

At least have a way to filter only OAI results.

    Cannot do, see reply:

The Collections Facet will display the sets for all OAI materials. It appears however that for both configurations you have in Vega Discover everything is the same set called 'CATA' and that is why this facet does not appear. If you configure sets in your repository and delete and reingest you will be able to use this facet.

We cannot associate online materials like OAI with a location. Location facet info comes only from Item Records.

  11. We have had several customers state that the error message that displays when you try to renew an item that cannot be renewed is misleading and "makes them feel like they have done something wrong". The image is fine, but we just want to change the text around the image. The customer has not really made an error - it is just that the item they want to renew cannot be renewed because there are holds on the title. [Note: I cannot attach the image and have tried various formats. The image text says "ERROR" and shows a woman at…

You can customize the error shown when a checkout renewal fails by updating this string translation in the english language file: "checkoutRenewFailed": "Renew failed. Try again",

  12. Right now, Vega is showing the library/branch when a patron is logged in from a collection site, but we would like to see that information when a patron is not logged in. The library/branch is visible in the main Vega site without logging in, but not the collection sites.

  13. Right now, the "Sync to ILS" button is available on any showcase that pulls from Sierra, but that button only does anything if you're logged as the owner of that showcase. If you attempt to sync to the ILS as another user, there's a generic error generated. That button should not even be available if the user does have the permissions to take that action.

This cannot be done. There is no default pickup location for users to update in InnReach. InnReach uses the individual patron's home library generally as the only available pickup location and anything else displayed is as configured in the InnReach system as potential pickup locations offered to the individual patron. Please control this in InnReach.

  15. For example allow us to link up our website to automatically go to Spanish. We have a few spots on the website that are meant to link to the catalog in Spanish for ease of use of Spanish speakers. I can bring up Spanish language materials, but the catalog itself always defaults to English.

  16. As a Swedish library, we need the ability to translate the text strings within the email sharing feature.

"Take a look at the following item

    Publication date:
    Author:

Check availability and additional information in"

We assume the same goes for Vega customers in other non-English-speaking countries.

Would you mind putting this request in through support as a Problem Report. We consider any lacking translations a bug and I want to track this through our Problem Reports rather than enhancements.

  17. As of May 8th, 2024, Patrons at Vega Discover Kiosks which run in incognito mode are now presented with a greyed-out screen with a small white cookie banner at the bottom. For patron privacy, best practice for any Kiosk deployed in a public space calls for the erasure of all browser cache and cookies at the end of the kiosk session. For a walk-up session, there is no clear instruction as to what action needs to be taken to get to the full site, clicking a small "x" in the lower right corner is neither intuitive nor accessible. This prompt…

To protect the privacy of all users the Cookie Banner is enabled for all Discover use. We understand that kiosk use may be anonymous by nature, however, all customer searching should be able to opt in or out of tracking.

  18. When you search for a title and apply the “At Library” filter to remove online items, Vega also excludes any titles where all copies are currently checked out. This can make it appear as though the library doesn’t own the title at all, and it prevents users from placing a hold.

While it’s possible to filter by format instead, patrons may not think to do that. They might select “At Library” and “Book,” expecting to see everything the library owns, but still not find a title that is actually in the collection.

The Availability filter is to filter to available items at the library or potentially available items online (we cannot know the availability of everything at an econtent vendor because of how their availability API works).

If you want to request a different type of filter, please let me know what you'd like it to be.

  19. There seems to be zero consistency for getting search results for authors who have any variety of initials as part of their name. For example, if you search for books by the author T.L. Swan, you will yield no search results unless you figure out to search specifically putting the periods as follows: T. L Swan or Swan, T. L
This makes no sense and is incredibly confusing. Any variety of where the periods are should yield the same search results, regardless of whether I input tl swan, t.l. swan, etc.

We unfortunately cannot add this sort of feature to Vega Discover for econtent vendors unless they allow us access to patron reading history they are keeping on their end. OverDrive, Hoopla and other vendors do not have an API for sharing this information.
