Add a call number index for searching
After testing a few call number searches, we are realizing that this feature would work best if there were an index for call number searching, to prevent erroneous results from appearing in the list. For example, if I want to search JUST Dewey call numbers of 300, I don't want to retrieve the movie with the title "300". Also, for our world language materials, we use call numbers to distinguish between Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese, and we are getting a lot of additional results with the keywords "Traditional" and "Chinese" in the bib. records. We want to be able to limit our search to ONLY retrieve titles that have linked items with call numbers beginning with those terms. In this way, we can create a saved search for each language and subsequently create showcases for Chinese patrons from those saved searches.

An index would make call number searching much more useful.

Right now, you have to enter the entire call number to retrieve a hit. We need to be able to search using a wildcard, or truncated search. If I want to find all the 301 dewey materials, I don't want to have to type the exact call number and cutter. that makes the call number search pretty useless.

Yes, an index for searching is important and would allow call number searching to work much better

Currently it is not obvious that you can search by call number. I think library patrons, especially staff and power users (who continue to use the Classic because of the perceived lack of this option), are going to look for that.
