  1. The current default selection for a MARC extraction is "All Records". If a user clicks submit by accident, this can take hours to complete. Default selection should be changed to " New or Updated Since <today's date>" as that is a faster extraction (and probably more used)

  2. We are part of a consortium and have an enhancement request, specifically for our hoopla integration. Currently, we have to choose 1 library ID for title ingestion (Solano) and can choose a separate library ID for circulation (St Helena, for example). We choose the least restrictive library catalog to ingest all titles and then circulate based on the individual library. This causes patrons to be able to see titles that are in fact unavailable to them/not borrowable at their individual member library. This isn’t the ideal patron experience, so we would like to propose the following: we would like the…

  3. With multiple records rolling up, sometimes the default cover art image isn't necessarily the most appropriate (i.e. showing a very specific version of Hamlet that not all libraries own rather than a more generic version). Since Vega is pulling the cover art from the record with the most recent copyright/publishing date, the only way to prevent an image from populating is to falsify the 020 in the most recent record (I've been in touch with Syndetics about this). It would be nice if there was a way that libraries could a) manually select a different image if needed, b) remove…

  4. Add the "You Saved" amounts (either this year or lifetime) to my account in Vega. We have this for patrons who checkout at staff station from Leap but sadly not available in our SIP connected Self Checks. Would be great to highlight this for patrons.

  5. It would be nice if adult books (even those with relatively low reading levels) returned Reading Level readalikes of other adult books (rather than j titles). James Patterson's "The House of Kennedy" is an adult title, Vega indicates that the publisher's recommended age and grade range is 18+ years, yet the reading level suggestions include Dog Man/Pilkey and the Good Egg/Jory John

  6. This is available in WebPAC and Encore and is the core feature of the message to borrower field in Sierra. Please make this functionality available in Vega, otherwise the point of the message to borrower field is moot.

  7. Discover should be able to handle a numerical comma in a title. We received a patron complaint that they couldn't find the title 20,000 Leagues under the sea. They were searching (correctly) with the comma in "20,000" (see this search: https://ada-lynx.na3.iiivega.com/search?query=20,000%20leagues%20under%20the%20sea&searchType=everything&pageSize=10). When searched as "20000", all the results properly come up (see https://ada-lynx.na3.iiivega.com/search?query=20000%20leagues%20under%20the%20sea&searchType=everything&pageSize=10). This is very difficult to explain to both the public and to the staff when our old PAC gives results to that without issue.

  8. The ability to sort Saved Searches and Showcases into folders would be helpful for larger libraries and consortium who create a large number of these assets.

  9. It would be nice if patrons were able to renew OverDrive via Vega or at the very least be provided with some explanation indicating that those interested in attempting to renew a title go directly to the OverDrive/Libby catalog to do so.

  10. The following three status are currently used in Vega:

    Available
    Checked Out
    Unavailable

While Available and Checked Out provide good information for patrons. Unavailable does not. We'd love to be able to map additional Polaris Circulation Statuses either for display or as an addendum to Unvailable.

Primarily the Polaris Circulation Statuses for Held, On Order, and In Process are valuable at-a-glance information for patrons to have.

Given that multiple items can be on a single record there would need to be a ranking system for some statuses.

  12. Add Sort by Author Ascending/Descending options to Bookmarks and Lists in patron accounts.

Along with Title and Date Added, this is an option in WebPAC that patrons are used to having. It also makes sense to have consistent view/sort behavior across the catalog. So, since patrons are/will be able to sort search results, checkouts, holds, and reading history by author, they should be able to do the same with other lists, as well.

  13. I know the information display on search result cards has been discussed for re-designing to make it easier for casual users. I hope that will extend to the information and buttons that live under the search bar but before the results as well.

In our catalog, customizations like the text strings and Vega guides have made it busier admittedly, but I would like the text sizes, button shapes, colours, and/or selectability indicators to be more consistent and arranged in a way that is more intuitive for navigation (easier said than done I know).

It is especially noticeable on smaller screens.…

  14. Currently, if there are more than 1000 items attached to a record, Vega only lists owning libraries (alphabetically) until that number is reached (and doesn't display the remaining libraries. Although there aren't many cases of a single record having so many attached items in my library, it does happen (think monthly magazines). It would be helpful if that number was increased.

  15. In the Classic catalog, when you view yor checkouts, the barcode is included (see https://ideas.iii.com/forums/951766-vega-discover/suggestions/46626907-add-the-item-barcode-to-the-checkouts-in-my-booksh) as is pertinent volume information. That information is not included when you view your checkout in Vega. We have multi-volume sets, magazine, etc., where this information would be helpful. We noticed this particularly when we set up a "dummy" ILL bib w/attached items (we don't have the Sierra ILL product, and our ILLs go through OCLC). Staff put details about the specific ILL in the attached item record, but Vega is only pulling the title from the bib, not the item volume information.

    Ideally…

  16. In the kid’s catalog version of Vega Discover for consortium use we are currently unable to neatly organize the location codes needed to limit the content to solely JUV materials. There can be many JUV codes in use for a single library which can be confusing for the patron if they’re looking for a specific library in the Locations facet.

Level 1 (library) codes do not appear in the Locations facet, even if the Level 2 (branch) codes are nestled under them. Being able to have a single location option for each library would be beneficial for the patron’s experience…

  17. Our customers don't think the 'i' information icon is a clickable thing. They think it just looks like a static image and assume there's no further information.

We'd like to see the icon changed to something that looks more like a button or link.

  18. We would like to have the option to include the shelf location for each item that is listed within each edition. It is much easier to identify when an item is, for example, a New item when a patron happens to be looking at holdings in this way.

  19. It is great to have the ability to schedule content for Vega Home Page. This could be even better if scheduling for Hero Carousel elements was more flexible. Ideally, it would be nice to be able to schedule individual Hero images to be added and removed from the carousel independently.

I would like to be able to schedule the hero block to display always (or for a defined period) and then assign dates for different images included to be added and removed within it independently.

If that isn't possible, please add the ability to copy/clone a hero carousel so that…

  20. We recently received a request to add a list format option for the bookmarks tab. A patron stated that they wanted, "A list format option of looking at the titles with visible author, pub date, brief description as it was in the old catalog". This could be similar to our options when searching to switch from list to grid view.
