  1. Move Personal Name Subject Headings to Concepts/Topics

    600 Subject added entry - personal name headings are currently displaying as Contributors/Persons. This is making it difficult to find additional resources ABOUT a person. When the person appears in the Subject field, they are not really a contributor, they are the Subject. Displaying these headings as Contributors is confusing. I believe this is on the roadmap but it would be nice to see this addressed sooner than later.

  2. Allow us to sync collections (Sync Now feature)

    We currently utilize ILS code synchronization for Material type, status, (Sierra only) message code synchronization, and Location synchronization. We kindly request the addition of a 'Sync Now' feature for Collections.

    Currently, any newly added collections or changes to existing collections require an overnight job for processing. Until this process is completed, new collections will only display the collectionID instead of the intended naming scheme.

  3. Ability to add some color scheme around search box on home page

    Patron keeps commenting that they can't find the search box on the homepage. If the library can add two color scheme around the box to highlight the box, it will help the search box to stand out. If a lot of color schemes can be provided, library can change the color scheme based on season, special theme, special program, etc.

  6. All metadata and content displayed for a work should use the same instance ISBN

    Vega uses the newest edition of a book to retrieve the cover image from Syndetics. However the rest of the display data is not necessarily related to this newest book edition/instance record. For consistency, the Syndetics widget data and the displayed work metadata (author, title, 520 summary) should all be based on that same instance record.

  7. Allow us to turn off/hide Export Citation link.

    We would like to be able remove "Export Citation" from the Options menu that appears on resource cards since it requires use of another service and we think this will just lead to confusion for our patrons.

  8. Facet Navigation and Display Improvements

    For Limited Value facets such has: format, location, collection, age group, language, donor; allow the full facet content to display in the refine panel when expanded and in all facet view by adding scroll.

    For larger value facets such as concepts, persons, publishers; enable a Load XX more <facet> button in the All Facet View to allow users to view more information without searching.

    In the Mobile responsive views that collapse the refinement panel by default, when in Advanced Search Mode, add the 'refine results' panel open toggle to the top left above the instructional text on the landing page.

  9. Provide a minimum of 2 Administrative Accounts

    Currently only one account has the ability to make administrative changes to the Vega Discover site. It would be valuable to have at least 2 accounts to ensure that libraries are in compliance with security standards and not sharing accounts when the primary account holder is out and to split the role as needed for more efficient workflows.

  10. Display More Note (5XX) Fields

    Note fields include useful information that is meant to be displayed to users. This information helps users decide if the resource described is relevant to their needs.

    A subtitle that appears only on the cover of a book might only appear in a 500 note. A note might specify that a resource is a reprint of an earlier publication or give the original title of a translation, just to name a few examples.

    Most notes are repeatable, so all instances of these MARC fields should display when there are multiple. Currently, only the first 505 (Contents note) displays.

  11. Include all contributors in expanded detail display

    Include additional contributors in the expanded details display for the individual manifestations (MARC 700), this is especially important when multiple versions are rolled up together.

    Currently, all added contributors for all versions are displayed at the bottom of the page of the roll-up and it is hard to find and identify specific translations or audio-book narrators. This also results in a work with multiple authors only having the first one recognized

  12. Display the Full Title (245) including Statement of Responsibility

    Displaying the full title (245) including the statement of responsibility (subfield ǂc) will help users identify additional contributors associated with a title.

    There are also sometimes additional titles within this part of the field. Subfield ǂc includes all information following the first slash.

    Examples:

  13. Have cover image change when a different format tab is clicked

    Currently, when viewing a roll-up that has no cover image, the format text stays the same regardless of which tab you click on. This results in, for example, the cover still saying Emagazine when you click on the Periodical tab (examples attached). If the image could update and say Periodical when you click on the Periodical tab, this would be less confusing for patrons.

  17. Token for the Vega help in custom header

    The current documentation has tokens to add the login and language selection to the custom header https://documentation.iii.com/vega/admin/admin/ConfigureCustomHeaderFooter.htm

    There doesn't appear to be a token/component for the help button that's in the default header, but I'd love to be able to use that.

  18. Make Syndetics Only Link to the Current Vega Collection

    Some Syndetics content links out to the main Vega collection instead of the collection that is currently being searched. For Consortia this will create patron issues since each member has their own collection.

  20. Ability to place a hold on an item that is already checked out to that same patron.

    Okay. Let me preface this by saying this does sound odd... although it's regular occurrence on popular material such as mobile hotspots. On the classic PAC (Polaris) if a patron has an item already checked out they can still place a hold on that same item. On Vega if a patron tries to do this it will only try to renew it.

    BUT if the patron logs out of their Vega account. Searches for the material. Clicks place hold. It will then allow them to make that hold on the identical item.
