There are also sometimes additional titles within this part of the field. Subfield ǂc includes all information following the first slash.
Examples:
The point less taken / ǂc Geoffrey Young. Some trees / Lucas Reiner.
Shock shop. ǂn Volume one, ǂp Something in the woods, in the dark / ǂc written by Cullen Bunn ; art by Danny Luckert ; letters by Nate Piekos of Blambot. Familiars / written by Cullen Bunn ; art by Leila Leiz ; colors by Bill Crabtree ; letters by Nate Piekos of Blambot.

I'm not sure if this comment is in the same vein, but we also have had complaints about the difficulty in locating, for example, a particular translation of a title, which got rolled up into one listing with all the other translations. It isn't clear how to limit to an author (the "Persons" facet has a confusing interface) and even once you apply a limiter, you can't find the particular edition in the editions list. For example, search for the Robert Fitzgerald translation of the Odyssey and try to figure out which item to request.

Since our pilot launch of Vega in December we've received regular feedback through the feedback form that patrons want more details in the edition descriptions. This is critical information to assist patrons in selecting or locating a particular title or one that includes the elements that they are interested in having access to.

Patrons who are looking for specific elements in a record require more details within the edition view. For some, these are critical distinctions.

The current rollups do not give users enough information to select the version they want. If they are looking for specific editions with particular people involved, like translators or illustrators, these are difficult to identify, unless they know the publisher or year of publication of the version they want. Subfield $c would provide context that is more intuitive for patrons.

I would agree with Dustin and Margaret and say that both displaying and indexing this data is critical for patron finding materials. This is key data that patrons search by.

There are many examples of when the name of an author/contributor as pictured on the item, listed in the 245 $c, is different from the version in the authorized 1xx or 7xx field. As such, the 245 $c needs to be indexed for searching, since that is what patrons are more likely to search by - they have no idea about authorized versions of names in LC, much less what they would be for any given author/contributor. Additionally, a recent example illustrated to us that even when they are very close to what the authorized name is, they could still miss finding what they need - searching "AJ Pearce" as pictured on the item doesn't retrieve the same results as when searching "A. J. Pearce", which is the authorized version. A patron wouldn't know this.
