  1. Allow a local cover image to override cover art provided by an enhanced content vendor, or to display when there is no image available from the vendor.

    Not all enhanced content vendors allow the submission of local images. When a cover image is incorrect, it may take a while for it to be corrected, if it can be. (If a publisher reuses an ISBN, who knows what cover will display.) Also, sometimes the only way to keep incorrect cover art from displaying is to remove valid data from the bibliographic record.

  2. We'd like these new TOMs/Type of Material ('Format' in Leap and icon in the PAC). These currently display incorrect and/or unhelpful formats, though coded correctly in the MARC record:

    CD + DVD: A CD issued with DVD displays in both Leap and the PAC as 'Videorecording'. If the DVD is primary it displays as 'DVD', better but still not ideal.

    Playaway: These display in Leap and PAC as 'Audio Books'. Not technically incorrect but not really helpful either. We'd prefer 'Playaway' or generic 'Audio Media Player' or something else that more clearly differentiates these from CD audiobooks. You should be…

  3. In PAC, Language only searches the 008 field (the item's primary language). It should also search 041 subfields a and d (the item's other languages). For example, if we have a bilingual book in English and Spanish, a search for materials in Spanish will not find it because Spanish is not the primary language in the 008 field.

  4. We'd like the ability to suppress headings in the Subject facet based on the heading's source (subfield 2 in the bibliographic record). Currently my consortium is deleting FAST and Sears subject/genre headings from the bib record because we don't want them to display in the Subject facet, and there's no way to hide them otherwise. This takes staff time, and also means the data is not available if we decide to use the headings in the future. There are probably other libraries not taking time to delete these headings, who would like a simple way to suppress them.

  5. Enhancement request to update the capabilities of Did You Mean? for search results in Polaris catalog. Requesting an audit of the spell check dictionary and a request for an option for a Spanish language dictionary. Revised 08/10/21

It could help patrons with extensive reading histories (e.g. patrons using outreach services for retirement homes etc.) improve their discovery journey when they are logged in, if items from their reading history were somehow denoted in search results as, for example, "already borrowed" or "borrowed in the past".

  7. We'd like to have Leap's quick search box do a keyword search instead of phrase, or at least have that be an optional setting. Currently searching something like 'help stockett' (without quotes) looks for that as a phrase, so we don't get any hits. Other searches might bring up random bibs that do have that phrase, but not everything that would be found with keyword. The PAC's quick search uses keyword. I'm not sure why it would be helpful for the default quick search in Leap to do something different. It seems like most staff would expect a simple keyword…

  8. Adding a date picker to form fields like "Activation Date" or "Suspend" improves the patron experience and ease of use of date fields.

    Patrons using the PAC on mobile in particular would be spared the tedious process of adding dates using the number keyboard on their device; this might also cut down on the number of times the wrong date is submitted, removing a source of frustration.

  9. Libraries need a way to quickly alert communities to closures during an emergency across all PAC pages. A banner appears across all pages of the PAC and is easily edited.

When conducting a PowerPAC search using the "limit by" feature to select one's home library and combining that with the "available now" facet, the implication is that only the items at one's home library will show up. That is not the case, as available items at all consortium libraries display in the results. Although it is possible to achieve the desired results by selecting the local library under the "assigned branch" facet, this is not very intuitive for library patrons.

  11. When placing a hold request, if there are other people on hold for the same title, you get a "warning" message. We'd like the option to eliminate this message and allow someone to place the hold request without going through this step.

  12. It would be helpful to be able to customize what material types appear as choices for faceted searching under the Narrow your search column in the PAC. As it is, there are often duplicate facets for the same item records (DVD = Projected Medium = Videorecording = Visual Materials) as shown in the attached Idea Image. In this example, for my community I would only keep DVD.

  13. Currently, when a patron changes their password via the OPAC (change logon > change password), no notification is made to the customer nor is the modification date in the patron registration record updated.

    I would like to see an email/SMS notification be issued to the customer when a password is changed via this method as well as have the modification date updated.

  14. The availability facet in the PAC dashboard does not accurately reflect the status of Overdrive titles. The facet may show that the title is available even though in the results it says that zero of NN copies are available. This is more likely to impact consortia or locations with multiple vendor accounts.

The way the PAC currently works, the three buttons on the right of each search result (Availability, Full Display, and Place Request) always appear if the bib is for a physical item, but only "Full Display" appears for e-resources. This indicates that the PAC already has the capability to suppress these buttons if conditions specific to the search result are met. It would be helpful if this ability could be expanded so that if all the items attached to a bib record for a physical item are not holdable, the "Place Request" button does not appear.   16. Please allow libraries to limit online registrations by their selected geographic location (state, county, city, zip code, etc.). We have too many people signing up that are outside our location and then using the resources which eats up our budget thus robbing our true patrons from their share of the resources.

    We currently have to comb through the registrations and find the "out of area" one and manually delete them. Would be better to prevent them in the first place. Never goodwill to give and then have to take away.

    This will help Library staff and Library patrons.

  17. Patrons with a large number of items in their reading history have a hard time searching it due to pagination. It would be helpful if the amount of items per page were customizable (and with that the max number of pages). Even better if there was a search option that could find items in the reading history across paged data.

  18. Overhaul the Did You Mean process to offer not just suggestions from a standard dictionary of terms, but directed from the results that would be produced in the catalog. Separated from previous Did You Mean? idea ticket.

  19. Since the upgrade to 6.3, cover image art now appears in the patron account pages. This is a nuisance to a number of patrons, who are more satisfied with the previous compact view. We'd love to see either

    1. a system-wide option to enable or disable cover images in the Account pages in SA

    OR

    1. a toggle for patrons in their account to enable or disable images.

As a library with a lot of historical serials, it would be very helpful to have barcodes visible in the OPAC so if I want to look at a serial issue that's a troublemaker in the catalog, I don't have to scroll through sometimes hundreds of issues in the client/LEAP to find the one I wanted to investigate.
