Polaris 7.7 - Make LEAP More VPAT Accessible!
Making LEAP more accessible and usable for everyone is key to system-wide adoption. I know LEAP can be finicky when display and text scaling and zoom levels are beyond 100%. But improving support for larger text would be a game-changer for many! I have a couple suggestions that I think could make a big difference:
Support zoom and text resize beyond 100% throughout LEAP, especially with the Find Tool, so users with vision needs can actually read the text. This small enhancement would be huge!
Perform a VPAT and implement recommendations. This will uncover ways to improve overall accessibility per web standards, making LEAP work for everyone.
Better text scaling and zoom features plus increased compliance with accessibility guidelines benefits us all! It means using LEAP is easier on more users' eyes while making the tool more inclusive.
Please vote this idea up so we can make LEAP more user-friendly and accessible. Comment with your suggestions - I'd love to hear other perspectives!

We'll be releasing another VPAT based on Polaris 7.7 which includes several accessibility bug fixes. We do VPATs regularly, so there is no need to enter enhancement requests for additional VPATs. Is would be more helpful to have bugs reported when there are specific areas/workflows not working for staff.

Is there any update as to when this is planned for?

All of this accessibility stuff is critical. When we go into new contracts, we now automatically have an accessibility section. If we were to re-bid our ILS today I'm not sure Leap would meet our RFP requirements for this reason.

Just for awareness, we have opened a problem report for the issue with scaling in the Find Tool in Chrome and are working on a fix for Polaris 7.5. (The internal ID is POL-17126, in case anyone has Support tickets that need to be linked).
But I'm going to leave this idea open until we do our next VPAT (next year).

Yes! Definitely. Leap seems to react strangely to different scaling and sizing tools and that's really unfortunate because lots of library work should be fully accessible to those with visual impairments. It's frustrating.

This is definitely going to be important throughout all of Leap. I know Technical Services staff that use above 100% while in Cataloguing, Acquisitions, and other modules.
