No longer require carrier when selecting TXT
As libraries move away from using gateways to send text messages we would like to make the wireless carrier field optional.

Please do not require the wireless carrier field in the Patron Registration work form in the Polaris staff client or Leap and also remove the Carrier drop-down list from the PowerPAC Self-Registration webpage. Thanks!

I like this idea, but doesn't it mean that we would no longer be able to send SMS checkout receipts? Polaris still uses the gateway approach for that, although AT&T now refuses to accept them.

As staff have been told that the mobile carrier isn't required for Vega Interact, it's confusing to then tell them that they do actually still need to list the carrier for certain other texts, such as check-out receipts.

Would love this. That field will be redundant for us when go-live with the Innovative SMS messaging service. Yet, staff will still be required to select something in that field before they are able to save the workform in Leap. Big inconvenience.
