Sierra 6.2 - Bulk Item level holds on same bib record
Often times when items are moving from one call number to another, holds are placed on the items that are checked out in order to capture these items when they are returned so that any cataloging work can be done.
The idea is to have an option to have some way that multiple item level holds can be placed on one bib record at the same time.
Idea Value
The value of this idea is staff time. By having to place individual holds on each item, this can take a long time when there are multiple copies of an item that needs to have a hold placed.
This idea has been included in Sierra 6.2.

It would also be really useful to have a specific "staff callback" hold, where the hold placed by staff would override the queue. Now we have to wait for our turn in the queue like everyone else, and even if we know the item has defects, it will sometimes take months for us to get the item away.

Saving staff time when placing book club holds would be a huge help. This has been a consistent request in our system for years, and would decrease the staff management of these holds considerably.

It sounds like a good idea to help decrease the amount of time library staff needs to place specific holds.

Our libraries have asked for this option for their book club holds for years. This enhancement would decrease the time spent placing individual item-level holds.

We come across this issue everytime a library is placing holds for a book club. We need 10 copies and have to place 10 individual item level holds. It takes a lot of time.

Our tech services/cataloging staff would love this, especially as we're in the midst of combining our DVDs of television shows from episodes to seasons (think Midsummer Murders). Maybe it's tied to a permission?
