Waive part of a fine
Circulation staff would like the ability to waive portions of individual fines/fees on a patron record.
Sometimes staff forgets to backdate items in our book drop or the library is closed for some reason (weather, etc.). Staff wants to waive part of the late fee, but are forced to waive the full amount for the item, then go back and enter in a manual fee (or just waive completely).
Idea Value
Save staff time (no need to waive and then add a fine back in)
Accuracy re: fines paid data (will be properly noted as fine vs. manual)
Increase customer satisfaction

MEEP candidate for the Sierra 6.5 release Functional Requirements (what does it need to do?) • A library staff user authorized to waive fees can waive a partial amount owed by a patron without the need to make a partial payment at the same time.
 • The partially-waived amount will be recorded in the patron’s fines history.
 • Partially-waived fees will be recorded in the fines and fees report produced by Sierra.

You can adjust individual fine amounts in Sierra:
 1. Pull up the patron record
 2. Go to the Fines tab
 3. Right click on a Fine
 4. Click View This Fine
 5. Click Adjust
 6. Enter the desired amountI will say that, weirdly, this shows in the Fines Paid report as an adjustment at the full original amount and does NOT show the amount it was adjusted by, e.g., if the original amount was $10 and it was adjust down to $8, the Fines Paid Adjustment for that date shows $10 instead of $2. You can enter a Payment Note.
