  1. We've always used static image collages that mimic Vega's showcase carousels on our Vega Discover homepages. This approach helps us maintain a consistent visual style, especially when cover jackets occasionally appear that don’t match the look and feel we want to present in our catalog. Ideally, we’d love a way to feature specific titles in carousels—with the ability for them to drop off automatically once they're no longer relevant—while still ensuring the layout stays cohesive. Below is an example of one of our static image panels. Allow us to "favorite" titles in our lists somehow through Vega Discover or within…

  2. This is a problem that impacts AACR2 records, including a significant quantity of e-resources, government and vendor supplied bibliographic records>

Punctuation between subfields is treated as part of the subfield itself, causing irregularities in the display of several fields.

The way Vega removes the $h [GMD] from the MARC 245 field, and $b is present, the ISBD punctuation is also removed. {a [h] : b} becomes {a b}, some examples {a [h] / c} becomes {a } the : or / following the $h is added to the Genre field

According to ISBD rules the colon preceding the additional title…

  3. When looking at the customer account view, the holds list is only showing the holds pickup location and is missing the holds pickup area. We would like to include the pickup area to be listed so that the customer will know where to pick up the item.

  4. We would like to login to Vega to access our stats. This is available through many of our vendors so we can directly access the information without waiting for a ticket response and to dig deeper for more information.

  5. We came across situations where incomplete/unauthorized subject headings (see attached) from suppressed OverDrive API-sourced records are appearing as Topics in the record for the print version of the same title, even when it isn't rolling up with our ILS-sourced econtent record for the same title (see attached). We were told that even though we have our own ILS record for the title with those subject headings removed, and the API record that has those subject headings is suppressed, the content from that suppressed API record is still being passed through to Vega, and it is connected to the print record…

  6. Requesting to include a toggle for both patrons and Vega Admin to allow 'you might also like' in the direct search results (pulling from econtent descriptions or Syndetics recommendations, or similar compatible connected service). Allow this feature to be consistent through the user experience (might need to be a separate idea - every new search resets many of the filters/settings, such as sorted by Date: Newest).

We have noticed that the Syndetics recommendation appears in the search results (search term not visible in the Vega or Polaris record). Although this may be intended based on the latest version of search…

  7. Showcases can only be sorted chronologically by publication date or alphabetically by title. We'd like to have 'random' as an option, so that the showcase would be sorted randomly each time the page / showcase loads.

  8. In a consortium environment the admin staff will often have to make changes to every library in its system. Having the option to view all the libraries in one page instead of 10 at a time. The addition of having the option to "open in a new tab" when right-clicking the Edit button under actions would be helpful as well to keep organized as the current system of going back to the Library Defaults page can sometimes cause confusion when navigating back to the next library.

  9. Archive-It is a popular archive vendor and integrating into Vega Discover would be of great benefit to libraries and patrons that use the service.

  10. When there are physical copies of the title available, the shelf location appears on the results page. However, if there are no physical copies on the shelf at any location, that shelf location is hidden and the user must click into a location in order to see the shelf location. It is inconvenient to have that information hidden on the front page.

  11. For titles with both a $a title and a $b subtitle. If the $a is an exact match for a search query that title should also be considered an exact match and boosted in the same way to the top of the search results.

When searching a word/phrase, results with an exact match of the search term(s) in the title of a search result should appear higher in search results than those with a partial match in the title due to 'stemming'. Example: Staff wrote in that they were searching for the book "Resolute" by Benjamin Hall and only the…

  12. Have the options to reset PINs via text message. Patrons without an email address in their record get an error message that an email couldn't be sent. There are a lot of patrons who do not like to give out their email, so having the reset link send via text would be useful.

  13. Would like to see the ability to place a one click hold like you can currently do the Polaris power pac. If you've chosen a preferred pickup location I don't see the necessity of having that 2nd window pop up that makes you confirm that.

  14. Here is the scenario: You do a search by title from the main search bar in Vega Discover. You scroll through the results and then decide to do an author search. Instead of scrolling back to the top of the page to use the main scroll bar, you just click the orange search icon in the top right corner and enter your author's name. The results will be that you get no results. The top search icon defaults to the last search option: All, Author, Concept, Series, Title. Users may/do not understand this and are confused by the lack of…

  15. Request:
Allow libraries to choose how dates display throughout Vega Discover with options for:
    MMDDYYYY
    DDMMYYYY
    YYYYMMDD
    YYYYDDMM

    Original Request:
Right now in edition information the due date is formatted YYYY-MM-DD. Can you format it MM-DD-YYYY instead?

  17. Many libraries host weekly or monthly events, it would be helpful to have a reoccurring event block option in the Homepage Builder instead of having to input a date/time for each individual event.

  18. Add a note in patron's transaction summary to indicate that a payment was made in Vega. For example, when a payment is made in the PAC a note is added to the patron's transaction summary indicating that the payment was made via PAC, as shown in the attached photo. Currently when a payment is made via Vega the note field is left blank not indicating how the payment was made. Ideally, the message should read "Payment made via Vega," but a note of some kind should be generated to indicate how a payment was made.

  19. Please index 245 subfield c for Vega searching. This would allow for broader author retrieval, especially when the name on the work doesn't match the controlled heading. For instance, "Tomb of Sand" cannot be retrieved by searching the author, Geetanjali Shree, as shown of the cover (and in 245 subfield c) because the controlled heading (100 field) is Gītāñjali, Śrī.

  20. Ability to search the name of a showcase. (This is similar to a feature BiblioCore has where patrons can type "new dvds" and retrieve a pre-limited search results). So, this would enable libraries to create a showcase called New DVDs, and patrons would be able to easily find those materials.
