Disable Vega Discover Cookie Prompt for Kiosk Sites
As of May 8th, 2024, Patrons at Vega Discover Kiosks which run in incognito mode are now presented with a greyed-out screen with a small white cookie banner at the bottom. For patron privacy, best practice for any Kiosk deployed in a public space calls for the erasure of all browser cache and cookies at the end of the kiosk session. For a walk-up session, there is no clear instruction as to what action needs to be taken to get to the full site, clicking a small "x" in the lower right corner is neither intuitive nor accessible. This prompt should be rewritten for clarity and/or there should be a feature added to disable this feature on published kiosk sites.

The cookie prompt design does not take into account use of kiosk sites as part of an in-building public access catalog. I support being able to disable this feature for published kiosk sites. I have also seen the mailing list complaints about the message itself being unintuitive.

Please disable this. We haven't started using kiosks yet, but we will not start until this issue is corrected as it sounds like a nightmare for public services.

We would need this to change before we implemented kiosk sites.

The new cookie permission requirement causes confusion for patrons and as does not work well with our security software. The option to disable Vega Discover Cookie Prompt for Kiosk sites would be very helpful.

I have been hearing from the public service staff that patrons are becoming frustrated with this situation.
Hopefully this will be resolved quickly. -

the current situation is confusing to patrons. the language on the overall cookie screen should be clearer, as well.

Our library wipes our cache and cookies for all of our in-house OPACs. We would like to be able to disable this feature for our OPACs.

Please disable this function on Kiosk sites. A lot of patrons are commenting on how annoying it is.

Please fix this issue...it is difficult and confusing for patrons to use our catalog. Maybe clearer instructions or a feature to disable this?

Our library also uses Kiosks in Incognito mode for our inhouse Opacs. Once the browser restarts after a period of inactivity, even if you acknowledged the cookies, they come back again. We would also like to see an option to turn off the cookie acknowledgements for our in house Opacs.

Our library removes cache and cookies regularly as part of our security and privacy policy. There should be an option to disable this easily within the site management settings- an on off switch.

I can walk around clearing these from our kiosks, but the notice is back up on the first kiosk by the time I get to the last one - and we only have three! It is very frustrating for our patrons as they are trying to click the greyed portion of the screen to try to "wake up" the catalog.

The cookie pop-ups are jarring, and results in our patrons feeling stuck or unsuccessful while trying to manage their accounts and view the catalog.

Kiosks must be quick and easy access points for patrons. The cookie
popups are a roadblock and can be confusing. An option to switch this off
within the site management settings is needed. -

The new cookie permission requirement has caused serious problems with patron's ability to use the Vega catalog, as it does not work well with our security software. Envisionware hides the small x at the lower right with the clock tracking how many minutes are left in the session, and Deep Freeze keeps permissions from being saved.
