Editable Patron Profile Fields - Edit AND/OR Add
Currently, when you allow patrons to edit patron profile fields like Email address, phone numbers, etc., you can Edit and Add. We don't want our patrons to Add in some cases, like Email, because when the patron does this in Vega, that means an additional z-tagged field in the record. Until Vega allows LX notices to go to more than 1 z-tagged field, we don't want patrons adding one and then wondering why they didn't get the notice to the e-mail address they just added. It's confusing. So if there was a check box for "Edit" and a check box for "Add" (you can check one or all or none), that would be ideal.

It’s a detriment to good patron service to offer patrons the ability to add a secondary email when that email cannot be used for sending out important library communications. It is best to allow a patron to edit or change their existing email, but only maintain one address in the system to ensure that they are receiving all library messages.

Ideally Innovative fixes the problem with having multiple z-fields in Sierra so that notices gets sent to more than one e-mail address in the future. Our library uses IMMS and that system integration handles seperate z-fields just fine for sending out hold-notices to more than one e-mail address.
While we wait for that fix I agree that patrons shouldn´t be able to add more e-mail addresses in Vega.
It will most likely be quite confusing for our patrons that hold notices sends to more than one address while other notices doesn´t. (We haven´t gone live with Vega yet.) -

We'd really like our patrons to have the ability to update their email address quickly and efficiently in the patron account. With the current set up, patrons can add an email address, but they won't receive notices to this second email. This will cause confusion for our patrons, which we would like to avoid. Allowing the field to be edited, with out adding another field, will help so much.

This will save libraries a lot of headaches when they're getting questions from confused patrons as to why they haven't received their emails.

I recommend removing the option to add additional email addresses in Vega to ensure reliable communication. Adding additional email addresses can cause issues, as the system can only send notices to one email address. Until Vega can support sending notices to multiple addresses, restricting the addition of email addresses will help maintain clear and effective communication and avoid confusion.

I agree with removing the option to "Add" an email. It cannot be configured to add the email to the current email field. We don't want to remove the edit option in Vega; patrons can update their emails in the WebPAC and Encore. They won't understand why they are not getting notices to both email addresses.
