    At best, the method and workflow used to bulk import patrons into Polaris (often referred to as student import) is archaic. The Polaris documentation for this process, Importing Student Records as Patron Records, is 19 pages long and seven of those pages are definitions and descriptions for the format of a pipe delimited file. This file contains 65 separate columns, all of which must be included in the file even if they contain no information.   2. Many of the blocks that pop-up during transactions at the circulation desk are more informational than related to rules. Separating 'blocking blocks' (patron is over the fines threshold) from 'informational blocks' (patron has a hold available) and making the latter optional would help libraries improve accuracy and efficiency at the circulation desk.

  3. Currently the picklist processing report is as-is with no options to modify.

    We've found it would be helpful for our library to have the last activity date to display when printing the picklist as items may have been returned within the last few days and on their way to being re-shelved or possibly on shelf for years & actually missing. Thinking others may have additional fields that would be of use to them as well.

  5. When a patron pre-registers for a library card using the PAC, they need a verification email sent to them that confirms that they've successfully created an account. This email should include the temporary barcode that is assigned to them, instructions on how to access their account on the PAC, and what to expect next.

  7. In the patron registration form in LEAP there is a reading history checkbox. If the patron has a reading history, clearing the checkbox and saving the record deletes that reading history permanently, and there is no warning to staff about what clearing the checkbox actually does. On clearing the checkbox, please add a warning dialog that says, "This patron's reading history will be permanently deleted. Please confirm that you want to delete it."   8. I'd be really helpful if it were possible to claim lost items. This has always been an issue here at Chicago Public Library, but even more so after we went fine free and started making items go lost after seven days. Now items often go lost before patrons notice, and it takes a lot of staff time to return the items and check them back out to the patron just to claim them.

  9. Currently only Item record sets have the option to bulk change selected records (Polaris 6.2). We'd like this to be available in all other record sets.

  10. Currently when a patron replaces their library card and gets a new barcode, staff have to manually reconnect them with their Libby account, which is connected to their old card number. This update should be automated so that patrons who lose their library cards don't also lose access to Libby or other eResources. I'm not sure if this would require an update to the API (?)

  11. Add granular permissions for the use of the Web Admin /Language Editor tabs. Ideally, each tab in the language editor should have its own permissions sets.

  12. We would like to be able to edit the default registration/renewal period based on the patron code rather than just based on the branch. We have certain patron codes that should renew for 1 year instead of our default of 3 years, but they don't have a unique branch in Polaris so we have to change the registration period each time we create a patron, and we have to change the renewal period each time we renew them, leaving more room for error if those steps are missed.

A request for an enhancement from our Homebound Services (Outreach) department: In Reading History, it would be beneficial to generate an alert (has had) from the Reading History when placing a hold, not during check out of the item. Presently, the current setting notifies staff at check out whether the patron has had the title already.

  15. The staff member Find tool in the client is very limited, making it difficult to find users without using SQL. For instance, there's no option to search by their Organization or Associated Branch, or by whether they have a Suspended account. It would also be useful to include these details as result columns, as well as details like "Last Login Date" (or include this under the account properties).

  16. Allow bulk change to all fields in the bulk change workform when the record set contains patrons from more than one registered branch. Currently, the system requires that a single registration branch must be applied to the patron records before changing the patron code and/or the library assigned blocks. These values are set at the branch level; however, most libraries use consistent patron codes and blocks across branches.

  17. We would like our patrons to see how much they have saved YTD and Lifetime when logged into their account in the PowerPac. Also having it be information that can be passed through API. I imagine this could be something we would be able to turn on and off same as the You Saved receipts.

  19. Automate lost barcode number requests. The simple way to achieve this is to offer this option below "Forgot your password" on the PAC login screen. The user clicks this and is asked to enter in the email address connected to the account in addition to first and last name. The patron associated with that name and email address would receive an email with the barcode. If the patron does not have an email on the account, or the wrong email address is entered, the user receives an error message.
