  1. It would be very helpful to have a more robust item record history. It appears that only the last 12 months of item history is available. It would be great if Polaris would:
    A) keep the history of changes in the item record forever
    B) improve the data that is stored and presented to staff, for example, so we could see what exactly was edited on 7-26-23 in the screenshot attached. Perhaps by clicking on the entry and having the information pop up.

  4. Create a recall function that is separate from the holds queue so Technical Services can get items back (for relabeling, for weeding, etc.). Technical Services often use internal cards to place holds on a specific barcode. This sometimes work, but has a few drawbacks:
    1. The hold disrupts circulation (renewals, other holds, potentially in-transit)
    2. If the item goes into a status that cannot fulfill holds (e.g. item becomes LOST), the holds will go back the queue and be reassigned to another item on the bib. Technical Services usually needs the specific barcode, not just any item on the bib.

  6. Currently it is only possible to apply a credit to an entire invoice, which then distributes that across all funds for all items on the invoice. We rarely actually have a credit that applies to an entire invoice. It will apply to a single title, or even and single item, and should only apply to the fund for that item/title.
    It would be much better to be able to apply a credit to a POLI, or even better, a specific POLI segment.

  8. Currently, when a user clicks on the library’s logo in the PAC header, we can specify a URL that opens. However, when they click it, the URL defaults to opening in the same page rather than in a new tab, causing the user to lose their PAC page and possibly their search results.

    It would be helpful to have a branch-level option to change that default to open a new tab instead. It could be included with the other configuration options under Profiles > PowerPAC > Page Header Options in System Administration.

  9. In addition to Single Sign-On (SSO) support for Microsoft Azure and ADFS, please consider support for Google Workspace. We recently migrated all of our email for our consortium (42 members) to Google and would greatly benefit from the ability to use the already signed-in information to authenticate into Leap. See screenshots for a design/concept mock-up.

  10. We would like there to be an option to add a note when resolving lost item charges, processing fees, and overdue fees when checking in a Lost item. Currently, if we want to add a note when waiving processing fees or overdue fees, we have to first charge the fees, then go to the patron record and waive from there after the fact, just so we can add the notes. It would be much easier if we could add the notes right on the screen that pops up (see screenshot).

  11. Item editing permission organizations are based on the Owning Branch of an item. However, permissions for item editing through the checkout page ('Manage Item Dialogs') are based on the item's Assigned Branch (as well as the check-in branch matching the assigned branch).

    We think it makes sense for both these permissions to be aligned to the Owning Branch, otherwise it can leave room for inappropriate changes. For instance, in our consortia some items are owned by one library but lent to others (assigned to their libraries), and this gap has led to item changes by staff that shouldn't have had…

  12. We have had multiple patron requests to be able to sort reading history delivered by API by latest added or by title. Currently reading history is displayed with the oldest first which results in a lot of scrolling by the user.

  15. We have instances where an EDI invoice from a vendor will contain materials that were ordered both via EDI and directly through the vendor. The EDI invoice in Polaris only includes the EDI ordered materials and then we add a line item for the materials that were not ordered via EDI.
    In LEAP we are able to add a line item to an EDI invoice but we are not able to receive it manually like we are in the client. I have included a screenshot to illustrate this.

  16. We have customers who do not pay attention to their notifications and an item gets declared Lost that they believe they have returned. I would like to have the option of taking an item that was declared Lost and making it Claimed Returned and even better if it could auto-waive any associated fines.

  17. We would like to be able to adjust the timeout in Leap after inactivity ourselves. Currently, we have to contact support to do this after each upgrade, since it resets itself. If the setting was in SA, we could reset it ourselves after each upgrade.

  18. Across our consortium, we have some library staff who exclusively use Leap, some who exclusively use the Remote Client, and some who use both depending on the task.

    Currently, there is only one system-level setting responsible for the Visual Alert Configuration (top banner color) in Leap & the Remote Client. Unfortunately, this doesn’t work well given that Leap has a light font color and the Client has a dark font color across the top, so to achieve an ideal level of contrast for both versions simultaneously is impossible.

  19. We would like Polaris to transition expired patrons to Deleted after a specified time frame. (Such patrons would of course need to have no lost items or checkouts.) We envision this working like Lost Item Transition and the Missing Item Transition. Ideally, we could also set a fine threshold to only delete those expired patrons with less than a certain amount of fines on their cards.

    Adding this feature would allow a library to automatically remove expired patrons and allow for a more streamline process for deleting the ones they wanted.

  20. Allow each library to specify specific material types(?) to not be allowed to be picked up in certain pickup areas. Example would be a wi-fi hotspot not being allowed to be picked up in a locker.
