  1. Details on items going in-transit, enroute, and/or transferred are not kept within the Polaris Transactions database. Instead, the data is only kept within the Polaris database. This means if an item is deleted, then statistics on it going in-transit/transferred/enroute are lost. The enhancement request here would be to include that information into the Polaris Transactions database.

  2. I would like to be able to run reports in Simply Reports to get our item return statistics broken down into time increments (such as hourly), as well as by date.

    This would be useful for tracking busy times and identifying trends/patterns at our library.

  4. In addition to Single Sign-On (SSO) support for Microsoft Azure and ADFS, please consider support for Google Workspace. We recently migrated all of our email for our consortium (42 members) to Google and would greatly benefit from the ability to use the already signed-in information to authenticate into Leap. See screenshots for a design/concept mock-up.

  5. Currently the default option is to charge the patron when doing a damaged item check-in (see screenshot). We would like the default to either be changed to NOT charge the patron, or we would like to be given the option to choose the default ourselves so we can change it to what we want just for our consortium.

  6. In Simply Reports, add ‘Hold activation date’ as an option under ‘Hold relative date filters’ for Hold List reports.
    We want to be able to use this report to provide a list of holds 45 days or more not filled based on the Hold activation date.

  7. There is currently only one setting that determines how long an item needs to be overdue before it reaches billed status and charges the patron for the cost of the item.

    We would like to have different types of material reach billed status at shorter intervals. For example, we would like for a device that checks out for 4 hours to be billed on the patron record after 1 day, rather than the 63 day interval that we use for standard material. Similarly, we would like our hotspots to become billed after they have been overdue for 3 days.

  9. It is frustrating that Polaris allows items that have not been received to circulate. There is probably not a connection between the PO status and the item status – but it sure would be nice if there was! We recently had an incident where items were distributed to branches before having been invoiced and received. A few days later when the invoice was processed, the items were all changed to a status of In-Process, even though they had already been checked out or were in a status of Being Held.   10. It's currently very easy to see handling details for received INN-Reach and Item level local holds in hold shelf status from the hold request in Leap (by clicking Satisfied By). In these cases, only the item that has filled the request appears. It is NOT at all easy to get to these details for other hold shelf and hold in transit items that originated with a bib-level hold request. When clicking Satisfied By for these requests, you see all items attached to the bib record plus their activity, requiring add'l detective work to narrow down the specific copy that filled…

  11. With the increased scrutiny on children's books, we are looking for ways to offer parents opt-in access to their child's account activities.

    Our suggestion is to expand functionality for associated accounts. Associations allow staff to link parents to their children's accounts, and access those accounts easily. However, from the parent's dashboard when they login to PAC, they are unable to view or manage their associated accounts.

  12. Automate lost barcode number requests. The simple way to achieve this is to offer this option below "Forgot your password" on the PAC login screen. The user clicks this and is asked to enter in the email address connected to the account in addition to first and last name. The patron associated with that name and email address would receive an email with the barcode. If the patron does not have an email on the account, or the wrong email address is entered, the user receives an error message.

  13. Across our consortium, we have some library staff who exclusively use Leap, some who exclusively use the Remote Client, and some who use both depending on the task.

    Currently, there is only one system-level setting responsible for the Visual Alert Configuration (top banner color) in Leap & the Remote Client. Unfortunately, this doesn’t work well given that Leap has a light font color and the Client has a dark font color across the top, so to achieve an ideal level of contrast for both versions simultaneously is impossible.

Currently the API only performs basic duplicate detection (name, birthdate, barcode, username, and optionally the name on ID) when a patron record is created using the PatronRegistrationCreate call. It does not apply other optional settings - email, phone 1, or the UDFs - these only get applied directly in Polaris or the PAC. This idea is for including these optional settings in the API logic.

  16. When you want to get rid of a bunch of edits, but only the ones made since the last save, it saves time to have just one button to click on. For example, when you want to validate juvenile headings, you need to take out |v Fiction for each heading. If they are all good, you want it back in each heading.

  19. MARC records for non-Roman language materials come to us from OCLC with the vernacular script in the 880 fields. Since that doesn't display in Polaris/Leap like we want it to, we have been using MARC edit to swap the 880 fields with the transliterations contained in the regular MARC fields. We are hoping there can be a better way, and Polaris can simply let us choose to use the 880 fields for display when they are present OR display the 880 information alongside the transliteration.

  20. When staff are placing individual holds for a patron Leap and the Desktop client allow staff to use the pickup branch as the branch where the staff member is logged in*. For libraries with centralized call centers it would be helpful to offer to use the patron's preferred branch when placing the hold request for the patron.

    Of course, this will need to be cleared indicated to the staff member what their preferred location is as they should still verbally confirm that is the location they want to use.
