Improve/Standardize Information Available When Viewing Holds
Library staff would like to be able to see more details on holds that have been placed, including how the hold was placed (Sierra Desktop vs. SierraWeb vs. Web vs. mobile app, etc.) and who placed the hold (Sierra login if not the patron).
Right now, it is not consistent how holds information is displayed.
If you view holds w/in a patron record (holds tab), you don't see when the hold was placed or how they placed it. However, if you View Cancelled Holds, you see the date/time it was placed, along with the date/time it was cancelled, along with the title, barcode and importantly for staff, what login and program was used to cancel the hold.
If you go outside of the patron record and go view the Bib and view the holds, you DO see the date/time it was placed. However, you don't see how it was placed or by whom. This is information that would be helpful, when there are questions about a hold.
Ideally the information you'd see about a hold would be consistent no matter how you're viewing it - from the bib level hold, item-level hold or in the patron record /holds.
I supposed this could also fall under "Customer Relationship & Account Management."

We would find this information very useful! Hold information should include the stat group that placed the hold. When troubleshooting unexpected holds, this would be very useful. Sometimes it's not clear whether there is a loan rule problem that we need to address or if staff are placing holds incorrectly and overriding rules. We do consult the circ_trans table on occasion to figure out how a hold was placed but it would be useful to see this data more readily.

We have an administrative protocol for staff-placed holds (staff append initials to the hold note to distinguish holds we have facilitated from those placed directly by clients) to approximate part of this functionality, but it would be vastly preferable for Sierra to provide this information.

The hold table doesn't currently store that information beyond the timestamps for when it was placed and when it was placed on a holdshelf if that's occurred...but the circ_trans table does include the application_name and stat_group_code_num from when the holds are first placed.

Per Barbara Leach, the hold-removed table records the following, so would need similar columns to the hold table...
removed_gmt
removed_by_user
removed_by_process
removed_by_program -

Yes - any additional information would be helpful. I now reference the circulation transaction history table for some of this information, but we only have a limited amount of time to look at this table.
