Improvements to Offline File Processing
As a System Administrator for a 54-member consortium, I want to receive an automated notification when someone uploads an offline file for processing. This would enable immediate file processing without waiting for manual staff alerts, prevent circulation errors caused by processing old files, and streamline the consortium workflow.

Thanks for resubmitting this idea, Nicole!
System downtime is a frustrating rarity for all concerned & making sure that offline transactions are uploaded & processed promptly is an essential step in the restoration of service. With dozens of branches to manage, each including multiple service points, an e-mail notification that shares the time & date of the upload along with its location, would be a great boost to the efficiency of the process.

As a coordinator for a library in a large consortium, it can be difficult managing offline transactions during a Sierra service outage. Staff often get frazzled and may miss a step in the process. If an offline file is uploaded but not processed in a timely manner, this can cause errors on patron accounts. An automatic notification to our library system would enable the offline transactions to be processed more quickly and efficiently, and lessen the chance of human error.
