StackMap - VEGA support
StackMap is an indoor mapping web application that helps patrons easily locate library resources including material, subjects wayfinding, rooms and public PCs in real-time. At this time, VEGA does not seem to support this application, but it does work in the default Polaris catalog.

Add shelf locations to Facets
We would like to have shelf location added as a facet in Vega in addition to collections. We use shelf locations for genres like Mystery, Urban Fiction, Science Fiction, and Graphic Novels that aren't reflected in our collection codes. There is currently no way for patrons to search by shelf location in Vega, so it's very frustrating for patrons trying to look for just Graphic Novels, for example. We would rather have shelf locations added as a facet than have to change all of our shelf locations to collections.

Request to Increase Character Limit in Announcements
The current 250-character limit in Vega Discover's announcement feature significantly restricts our ability to convey essential, detailed information in a single message. This limitation is particularly challenging when addressing complex situations that impact multiple services. Our public relations team is compelled to create multiple, shortened versions of the same announcement to fit this constraint, leading to an inefficient communication process that does not align with the capabilities of modern CMS platforms.

Move Personal Name Subject Headings to Concepts/Topics
600 Subject added entry - personal name headings are currently displaying as Contributors/Persons. This is making it difficult to find additional resources ABOUT a person. When the person appears in the Subject field, they are not really a contributor, they are the Subject. Displaying these headings as Contributors is confusing. I believe this is on the roadmap but it would be nice to see this addressed sooner than later.

Allow libraries and collection sites to control what patron registration data shows in the patron profile
For example, patrons see a home branch, a registered branch, and a preferred pickup location. With our Polaris ILS, patrons don't actually have a home branch, so it looks like this just gets populated with their registered branch. Some patrons and staff have expressed confusion over this - it would be nice to be able to choose what fields from the patron registration display to the patron on their profile. Since we're a consortium, it would be especially nice if this could be controlled at the collection site level, rather than the higher level.

Additional options to suppress the ability to place holds
Many libraries feature "browsing" collections which are not holdable, but are available for customer checkout. Currently, the only means to suppress the Place Hold button is via item status code (In Library Use, etc). However, there is not a means to suppress the button for those non-holdable collections that have a Check Shelves status, as Discover does not recognize ILS-based configurations such as ASAA (Sierra).
The ability to suppress the Place Holds button based on additional codes - such as location or itype - would provide an effective workaround for these types of collections.

Hoopla integration improvement
Recently at the Strategic partner meeting it was discussed that the current Hoopla integration will be developed further so that pre-defined MARC records lists of top 100’s or Top 500’s could be imported and displayed.
I would like to see this taken a step further and have the option for Hoopla materials to display on the roll up if there is a match to the existing physical holdings rather than the current all or nothing option.

We leverage the standard Vega showcases on our website (https://www.rhpl.org) but the Vega Homepage showcases offer better visibility. Please allow us to use these throughout our organization.

Material type sorting to show physical copies and DVDs first
Currently, Vega sorts book, eBook, large print, audio CD, and eAudio. I'm proposing we change this to book, large print, audio CD, then digital resources. Most patrons search for digital media via Libby rather than the main online catalog.
Additionally, putting DVDs before Blu-Ray would help lower the amount of patrons accidentally ordering Blu-Ray when they really wanted the DVD. Re-ordering this would lower the amount of accidental hold requests for the wrong media type.

Better Request Failed Message
Clearer wording for the "Request Failed" box that displays when a patron attempts to place a hold on an item for which they are already on the hold list (this is prohibited in our implementation). This version of the Request Failed box says "couldn't find suitable edition for the request." Despite the new green alert bar indicating the hold status of the item, this error box wording would not likely be intuitive to our patrons.

Make the language facet use the language from 008 field only
The 008 is the field we would prefer to use for the language facet and no other field. The 008 only field is consistently used in all our records. We stopped using the 240 fields in bib records, because that caused problems in Vega. The only time we use the 041 is when a title is bilingual. It would be a huge amount of work to update all our bib records. It is complicated how it currently works, and search results are confusing.

On Order Searching an sorting
'On Order Availability Facet - Allow users to limit searches to materials that are On Order' is on the roadmap for "later". We would love to see this added, including the ability to sort results by order date. We have developed a workaround by creating Material Types for On Order to allow these items to be searched and placed on hold; however, none of the existing sort options allow users to easily navigate these results. Be able to see if there are holds on titles, we have checked out on My Bookshelf
A customer has provided feedback that by being able to see what checked out titles on their bookshelf had holds placed against them would help them prioritise their reading, e.g., if they knew a title was going to renew or not, or had holds on it, they would read that title first.

Make customizing Showcases easier
Vega should have controls when generating showcase code that allows the librarian to change the look and feel of the showcase and have the generated code include these customizations.
This idea was born when our web team asked if it was possible to remove the author name from a Showcase when embedding it into our website. Other libraries might want to remove title and author and just show jacket covers. Any ability to customize the look of the Showcase that is embedded would be awesome.

Syndetics Summaries
It would be great if the Syndetics summaries were accessible in Vega. In Encore we had Content Café, and clicking on the book cover returned a page like the one below. Patrons (and staff) really miss summaries on future release books we don’t have summary information for.

Have cover image change when a different format tab is clicked
Currently, when viewing a roll-up that has no cover image, the format text stays the same regardless of which tab you click on. This results in, for example, the cover still saying Emagazine when you click on the Periodical tab (examples attached). If the image could update and say Periodical when you click on the Periodical tab, this would be less confusing for patrons.

Customize Vega Email Password Reset Message
In a consortium, the default is the name of the account of the consortium. This is confusing because the consortium name might be the name or nickname of a single library in the consortium. Patrons do not recognize the email address (no-reply@iiivega.com) or library name listed (Bett). Ability to customize the message would allow each library to use their own branded name.
