Facet Navigation and Display Improvements
Improve Facet display by better utilizing space in Refinement Panel and utilizing word wrapping when necessary to display full facet value.
In All Facet view display data in a single column of scrollable data and utilize word wrapping when necessary to display full facet value.
For Limited Value facets such has: format, location, collection, age group, language, donor; allow the full facet content to display in the refine panel when expanded and in all facet view by adding scroll.
For larger value facets such as concepts, persons, publishers; enable a Load XX more <facet> button in the All Facet View to allow users to view more information without searching.
In All Facet View, upon open, display Search <facet> help text as well as place cursor in search box.
In the Mobile responsive views that collapse the refinement panel by default, when in Advanced Search Mode, add the 'refine results' panel open toggle to the top left above the instructional text on the landing page.
Remove the Apply Step when selecting facets globally for all Vega searches.
Add a setting that modifies the Location Facet by floating the 'home location' to the top of the facet list. Use Patron home if authenticated patron. Use preferred locations if kiosk or collection site.

It would make the use of the facets quicker if they were automatically applied as you selected them.

We are part of a consortium and agree with previous comments posted, specifically floating an authenticated patron's home library to the top of the facet list.

The online facet, when selected, should trigger a tab that is not a physical copy, perhaps in a custom order. We would want the selection to be appropriate for ebooks and eaudios as well as for video, Gaming, digital content and so on. A single prioritized table that could be consulted would work.

This idea for enhancing facet navigation and display in Vega Discover is highly commendable. It addresses critical user interface issues, making search results more accessible and user-friendly. The proposed word wrapping, expanded content display, and scroll features for facets will significantly improve usability, especially for extensive data categories. The removal of the Apply Step simplifies the navigation process, while prioritizing the 'home location' in the Location Facet is a thoughtful addition. These improvements are not only practical but also essential for a more efficient and intuitive search experience.

At the very least, give the patron the option to scroll through all facets. Or employ another criteria for ordering of facet display.

In Kiosk mode, the location of the Kiosk site's collection should be displayed 1st in the location facet.

Hello Vega! We love you but this is a critical problem. My library is small so it doesn't show up on the facet list. We are a large consortia and our locations should be listed in alphabetical so people can find them. This is super important! Thanks a lot.

Just echoing what Jaclyn and Grace have already said. Our staff has observed that location sorting leaves a lot to be desired. Would be nice to have the home library at the top of the list (especially since the order is not alphabetical and is instead sorted by most to least items for the search query). Alphabetizing would also be great.
We've also noticed that patrons can't see what the call numbers of items are until you click on the owning library (under "On shelf at one or more locations"), and then it comes up in a pop-up at the side of the screen. Inconvenient from both staff POV and a library user POV.

I agree with Jaclyn S. about which changes would be the most helpful. As a smaller library in a large co-op, there are other libraries that have bigger collections, we are often last on the lists. It makes more sense to allow for the location filter to be super accessible.

Having locations sorted by record count is causing confusion for staff and patrons. Our library is not showing up in an obvious way in the list of libraries with copies of an item, and it would be so helpful if 3 changes were made: sort the library list alphabetically, enable the patron's home library to load at the top of their list, and when in the library, allow the IP address to push our library to the top.

As a smaller library in a large consortium, expanded facets would benefit my patrons. I have already received feedback from patrons that they are unable to find information they are used to. In particular, it would be highly beneficial for the patron's home library to float to the top of results, as our less tech savvy patrons do not find it intuitive to open a drop down menu and then hit "all locations" for the popup window.

Being a part of a large consortium, this enhancement would be very helpful and improve the search experience for our patrons. Ideally, it would work best for us if the patron’s home library floated to the top of the location facet, with the option to load more locations.

As our library is part of a large consortia, the improvement would be very helpful to our patrons with regard to finding items in our collection.

We are a large system and all our libraries should be listed in alphabetical order to be consistent. Some of our libraries have smaller collections but they all need to show up in the facet list.
