Let Vega use information from order records in ILS.
As of now Vega doesn´t look at the order records in the ILS. We have set the system to allow holds on bib-records with no items attached for books. That in turn displays "On order" in Vega. This method has some complications but works for the most part since there usually are orders on these bibs. But we would like it to also display how many items are ordered. It helps inform our patrons if it´s worth placing a hold on the title.
In the example (offer) I´ve included we have a new book with 8 copies ordered. If that information was included patrons would know that they won´t have to wait long if they place a hold now.
Another common scenario for us is that we have a bib where there are a few items attached, but we later decide to order more copies to meet the demand from patrons. In that circumstance there are no indication of this in Vega. In the example (7oktober) we have two additional copies on order at the moment.
When items are suppressed in an older work because of being lost, damaged, missing, or withdrawn, it also doesn't make sense that the title should show up in Vega as On Order as this may not be true!

It is wildly confusing for our patrons to see items listed in the catalog as 'On Order' when the item is actually damaged, long overdue, or any other status that isn't 'Available' or checked out. Depending on the record, this could also make it appear that the library is ordering a very old copy of an item. Accurate information is very important to our patrons, and to our staff.

Integrating order record information from the ILS directly into Vega would greatly improve the patron experience. This integration would offer patrons more precise and current availability details, bringing Vega up to par with the comprehensive information currently provided by WebPAC.

This is definitely useful, as I've been able to use the WebPAC's "on order" information in the past to inform patrons about incoming items to the library. If I was using Vega, I wouldn't be able to share this information with a patron.

Displaying order record information from the ILS directly in Vega, particularly within the Collection Sites, would significantly enhance the patron experience. This would provide patrons with more accurate and up-to-date availability information, aligning Vega with the level of detail currently offered in the WebPAC and Encore.

With multiple accounting units in our Consortium, different libraries are ordering items and want to see those orders in their collection sites. Since not all libraries are ordering the same items, we need order specific information in the collection sites.

This part especially for us: "When items are suppressed in an older work because of being lost, damaged, missing, or withdrawn, it also doesn't make sense that the title should show up in Vega as On Order as this may not be true!"
We don't have "order records" as we are a consortium - we only have "on order items" so if we were to extrapolate from that, then an "order record" would be any record for which all items attached were in a status of "Being Acquired" or "In-Process".

We would love to see Vega look at Order records! We have a similar workaround where we created material types for different On Order types. One of the things that is really lacking with this method is useful sorting and searching. Patrons want to be able to see what is on order sorted by order date. Right now, there isn't a good way to sort On order records since "New Materials" looks at the cat date which we don't add until the item is received. Limiting by material type is also not as robust as it could be since we didn't add an on order type for every material type (since we hoped that on order searching would be coming soon). For instance, you can't search specifically for On Order Non Fiction, On Order Fiction or On Order Picture Book, etc. since those are all lumped into On Order Book. We could create additional material types but were hoping to not have to do that.
I've received a number of complaints from patrons that want to be able to quickly view what has been ordered since the last time they checked and they can't really do this reliably now.
