  1. In Encore, we could leverage scopes we had created in Sierra to create a quick way to search a group of nearby libraries-for instance, Quad Cities area libraries, Rockford area libraries, Henry County libraries, etc. In Vega, there is no quick way to do this. It would be great to have a way to create location groups in specific collection sites so that patrons can have this "shortcut" available to them again.

  2. Our libraries have requested that the "circ date" from the classic catalog be also displayed in Vega. As displayed in the screenshots, what the catalog calls the "circ date" is actually the last activity date in the item record in Polaris. This way staff and patrons know when an item last went in transit or enroute to a patron or was checked in/out. Ideally, it could either display in the Edition information area or in the Location drawer (both pictured in screenshots below).

  3. We have noticed that in several places the second and third words start with a capital letter even though we have written the words in lowercase letters in the translation file. For Swedish (and more languages), it looks very strange when every word in a phrase or sentence begins with a capital letter.

    Some examples:
    "publisherInformation": "Information om utgivare", in Vega Information Om Utgivare

    "audience|general": "Allmän målgrupp", in Vega Allmän Målgrupp

    "audience|juvenile": "Barn och ungdom (0–15 år)", in Vega Barn Och Ungdom

    "audience|pre-adolescent": "Äldre barn (9–13 år)", in Vega Äldre Barn

    "audience|preschool": "Yngre barn (0–5 år)", in Vega Yngre Barn

  4. We would like to have the option to suppress the patron's holds position in the queue from displaying. We don't have it display in our current PAC and we don't want it to display in Vega either due to it being misleading since the algorithm prioritizes a library's own patrons first which often changes the order.

  5. This message appears when trying to freeze a reserved material that is in transit or has already arrived at the reservation shelf. Our Vega is in Swedish so we wish that this message can translate to Swedish and other languages.

  6. Right now, our library has to go through multiple steps to see useful information (like table of contents) or cannot see some detailed information (such as bib notes that we use to give customers/staff additional information about titles.)

    For example, when someone clicks on a title, you then have to select the “i” to display the item’s listings, and then click again to see an items table of contents. It would make the most sense for everything that is in the details, be included in that initial edition display.

    And similarly, we are not able to see the item’s 500a…

  7. When editing the Manage Translations strings, it would be helpful to know where we could look at the context for strings and/or confirm that a change was implemented.

    For example, there are various "GET IT" strings, such as:
    "getFromAmazon": "Get from Amazon",
    "getIt": "GET IT",
    "getItBtn": "get it",
    "getItem": "Get Item",
    "getMaterial": "Get Material",
    "holdGetIt": "Get It"

    It would be helpful to have clarity on where/the context in which each of these is used.

  8. Super frustrating to not be able to create a book list for displays or patrons needing a large amount of materials on a certain subject, and also not being able to easily print the list with the call number included. If there is an easier way to do this, please help me out: leticiag@harvard-diggins.org

  10. It would be great if updates to the system could be performed overnight. If that isn't possible, it would be nice to receive a message 24 hours out so that we can alert patrons to functionality issues.

  12. This will allow us to directly link to a sign in page from our website rather than send them to catalog where they need to click login again. It was something we had in the Polaris PowerPAC. It also helped with e-sources since some of these databases require validation and it would need somewhere to send them to login.

  13. We often re-use images for our Vega home page, specifically the Hero, and there is no way to quickly access those images - you are forced to upload again and again. For example, maybe we opt to promote/use one of our Hero images every 3 months for a particular service. When you go to promote that service again, you have to try and find the artwork you stored locally again, upload. It seems like this could be store somewhere, maybe make it optional when you upload to keep/store the file (so you could say "no" for something that is a…

  14. During our user testing, we received numerous inquiries from both children and parents, expressing a desire for the option to access both fiction and nonfiction content within the limited search view designed for kids. This feature may assist them in distinguishing whether the material is intended for leisure or educational purposes at a quick glance. This shouldn't be turned on by default but should be able to be toggled for libraries willing to make that change.

  15. Further customize Hoopla integration to allow segmentation of collection content.

    Hoopla doesn't do Top 100s or Top 500s anymore as of January 2024. What they can do is "Top Load", which is popular titles across each format (about 85,000 records) and includes top DEI and non-English language titles.
    Libraries also want to segment to just Juvenile, just audiobooks, etc.

  16. One of our member libraries mentioned this as a possible feature request for Vega Discover.

    They stated, "A great would be if you can click the library name to display item availability if under the location drop down if you can also display the library address and phone number. This would make it easy to click the phone number to call the library to check on real time status of an item for patrons etc. Very useful for staff and patrons!

    Let's also have the library address be a clickable link that hops into google maps to navigate to the…

  17. Some customers only want hold pickup notifications. Others want hold pickup and overdue but not courtesy notices. I believe the fact that notices are all or nothing is a BIG reason why our emails get marked as spam. Please allow patrons to select which notices they receive. Even better, allow staff to decide if a notice is optional. For example, we understand if patrons don't want courtesy notices, but we will always send a bill becasue their borrowing privileges are blocked by then.

  20. We have the ability to turn off "Other books in the series" in our Syndetics settings which turns off the gray covers for items not owned in that section, but unfortunately we have no way to turn off just the "Similar Series" section of "You May also Like" without also turning off the "Top Picks" for individual titles in the "You May also Like" section. We would like "Top Picks" to be separate from "Similar Series" in the settings for "You May Also Like" so we can turn off one without turning off the other.
