  1. While "Material type, status, and (Sierra only) message code synchronization" is offered, it doesn't appear that we are able to sync other fixed fields that are changed in an item record. For example, updating the OPACMSG field in the item record is not reflected in Vega, even after running the sync. Changing the OPACMSG in an ITEM record does not get activated by the sync function in Vega admin…you must update the bib as well and then run the extraction (or wait overnight). Aside from making the documentation more clear, ideally syncing is expanded to reflect changes to items w/out…

  2. Please enable ProQuest database customers to seamlessly search their databases within Vega Discover without the need for creating placeholder bib record redirect links. The ultimate objective is to allow patrons to conduct searches for items such as historical newspaper titles and receive relevant search results from our catalog, along with direct links to ProQuest Historical Newspapers databases associated with their search queries.

Third-party databases would also be fantastic but I'm sticking to Clarivate owned products for now.

  3. I would really love to see the Baker and Taylor "Boundless" interface refined. Talking to reps from B and T, it appears that the API is currently able to pass credentials, however in Vega you have to log into the B and T site to retrieve items. It would be more seamless and less confusing for patrons to at least authenticate them on the site when checking "get item" from Vega. Eventually, a tight integration like what we have with Overdrive would be awesome.

  4. It would be nice to have a link in Vega Discover to report incorrect images and have a status note once its been reported so multiple reports are not being submitted for same image. Contact information seems to change often and can get a bit frustrating to get resolved.

  5. It would be nice to have an additional format of bilingual material. 041 would have multiple |a.
Currently it is rolled up with the regular print and is only notable if there is an edition statement, which I don't believe is typical.

  6. If a patron searches Vega and gets zero results, can the results page say something like, "Can't find what you're looking for? Try Link+"

See an example from another library's catalog that does this.

  7. Currently, changes to the OPAC Message field in the item record do not display in Vega unless the BIB record has also been changed. If the BIB has been changed, the OPAC Message change will be picked up during overnight extraction; however, if the BIB isn't edited, the change is never picked up.

Currently, we use the OPAC Message field to display important shelf information. Changes to this field are made at each location by staff that do not have permissions to edit BIBs. The only way to ensure that these changes display in Vega is for staff to let…

  8. Currently, Syndetics Unbound shows a colored box with the title if the MARC has no ISBN/UPC (020 or 024). When ISBN/UPC is present but Syndetics Unbound does not have an image, a grayed-out book icon displays. It would be aesthetically pleasing if the images for these two scenarios were consistent.

  9. After selecting a showcase image on a carousel to read more and then selecting the back button when you are reading it would be nice to go back to the carousel rather than the home page.

  10. Allow patrons to automate holds for new releases from their favorite authors. Patrons should be able to select their favorite authors to be automatically placed on hold for new releases or acquisitions from that author. Vega discover could also provide statistics on which authors have the most holds, allowing libraries the ability to improve purchasing for popular authors. This would provide an improved solution to a popular program offered by many libraries.

  11. I think the For later and Bookmarks labelling can be clarified. It would be clearer if the Bookmarks label is changed to 'Items saved for later' or simply 'For later' so there is a direct co-relation, making it a tad bit easier for new users to understand where 'For later' items go.

  12. In Vega eCommerce setup, you have to enter a whole dollar amount as a minimum amount that can be paid online. We require a minimum of $1.01, which is confusing to patrons if we configure this at $1 See screen shot.

  14. The library logo appears when on a library's collection site on a desktop computer, but on the phone it disappears. It would be nice if the logo could still display on mobile view.

  15. I should preface this with the understanding that we can build our own help page and direct traffic there. However, the built-in Vega Help section contains fantastic material and is most likely updated with any new deployments of Vega Discovery. We'd love to have the ability to leverage those pieces while still maintaining our own branding, customized text, customized imagery, embedding Vega Guide, and adding alternative sources such as Niche Academy video tutorials.

  16. Currently, you can only authenticate a patron by Patron ID or Barcode . Sometimes the libraries in the consortia don't tell us their barcode prefixes have changed and patrons were being blocked for no reason. So we are utilizing the SIP connection with OverDrive and Kanopy to block against patron type in Polaris, no longer utilizing the barcode prefixes so patrons have easier access. Now that fix might not work in Vega to authenticate OverDrive because we don't use the barcode.

  18. We would like to be able to suppress certain formats from appearing in the format list so it isn't so cluttered for patrons. We are aware that would eliminate certain results, but we would prefer it to appear cleaner rather than with so many options that patrons might not even understand.

  19. In a consortia, especially one with many member libraries that share patrons, it is important for users to be able to move from the main/parent domain instance of Discover to one of the individual library sites and also to be able to navigate between member library sites. This is functionality currently available in the Polaris PAC and heavily used.

  20. It would be very helpful for staff when assisting patrons searching for materials in other languages if the 240 field with the original title in English was also displayed in the brief search results so the staffer could easily and quickly identify the title in English that the patron is searching for in the other language.
