  1. We’ve long benefited from Sierra’s well-supported EDI claims functionality, which has enabled seamless communication and efficient claims processing with our library partners. However, we’ve observed that Polaris currently lacks equivalent support for sending claims via EDI in the same format.

    Can you please port over the EDI Claiming Format From Sierra & Millennium to Polaris? This would make it easier for libraries migrating to Polaris from these products.

  2. We'd like to block patrons from checking out on selfcheck units if they have lost items. Even though Polaris SA has a configuration in place, that setting only works for API setup, not sip2. we'd like to have a similar setting for sip2.

  3. We would like to enhance /PolarisAdmin (Web Admin) so that leading and trailing spaces are automatically trimmed from the Username and External ID fields upon entry.

    Problem Statement
    Currently, if administrators accidentally enter a username or external ID with a leading or trailing space, it is saved as entered. This creates login and authentication issues for end users, since the system considers the space a part of the credential. This can be difficult to troubleshoot and frustrating for both administrators and end users.

    This is especially likely to happen when copying/pasting from certain user management platforms.

  4. Provide staff with a single click option in Leap to find titles on shelf at the location they are currently logged in under. Many staff default to using the PAC for its Available Now option - which is great but, is problematic if a customer doesn't have their card and/or doesn't know their password. While we can emulate the Available now search in Leap thru filters or saved search parameters, even accessing those saved searches can take several clicks. Offering an available or here now button would make this much faster and would be used very often

  5. Items can be added to a record set via a text file. This is very convenient and quick. It would be helpful to be able to place multiple holds via a text file. I would like to be able to upload a text file via the more menu (just like adding to a record set), which would then place a hold on each item in the text file.

    This way a group of items a user wants to put on hold doesn't need to be put in a record set first, cutting out an entire step.

  6. Right now, the only thing that displays in the list of workforms is the title. When comparing records with the exact same title, this can get confusing and requires too many clicks to make sure you are selecting the correct record. There needs to be more information displayed in addition to the title, and should at minimum have a control number.

  8. This request is for a new feature to improve phone number search capabilities, specifically by handling varied formatting in the free-text phone number field.

    The current phone number search often fails because it's a simple text match that can't account for different formats like hyphens, spaces, or parentheses. Staff will sometimes report back to a patron that their phone number isn't in the system because they didn't search for it in the way it was entered into the patron's record. This can then frustrate patrons if they continued to get called or texted by the notification system.

  9. Currently, we utilize a bookmobile and would love if we can limit that pickup location to our outreach patrons. This could easily be accomplished if we could limit locations based on patron codes.

  10. It would be helpful to have a "view password" option in the login for library patrons/guests. I have gotten feedback from patrons who are visually impaired that having this feature would make logging in to their library account much easier, allowing them to identify typing errors before submitting their login information. The view password feature seems to be such a standard across wide array of platforms, pages, and applications. Why wouldn't a library be able to offer it?

    1. Patron has a held item
    2. Held item is cancelled
    3. Then the patron record is deleted
    4. The hold on the holds to action will have no patron name shown.

    This means that staff have no real way to know where their hold is on the hold shelf (holds are arranged on the shelf by patron name) to be removed. This was originally entered as a bug, but it was closed as a bug because it was working as designed.

  11. Specifically, in 7.7, in the options to display facets within the Administration Explorer: Dashboards: Narrow Your Search & Related Searches, allow the opportunity to display the checkboxes for the Collection Codes and/or Mat Type for an improved patron experience.

  12. When we apply customer payments in Polaris, staff select payment type from a customer (cash/check/CC). Payment type is recorded in payment reports to reconcile our credit card statements each month. Sometimes a person will mistakenly record a payment as cash when it should have been CC. Once recorded, a mistakenly selected payment type cannot be corrected in Polaris. It would save significant time if an edit/correction option was available.

    We have a customer here who is down on the Mobile Hotspot queue. I have noticed that several of the people above him on the queue currently have hot spots checked out already. It doesn't seem fair that those customers will get to have their hotspots potentially another three weeks before this other customer gets to borrow it.   14. Currently, Polaris allows all staff members to override a hold and check out a Held item to a different patron. We need a System Administrator (SA) permission to control this functionality. Our preference is to prevent staff from overriding holds, ensuring items are always checked out to the requesting patron.

One piece of feedback we've gotten is that staff members who are used to the client miss the ability to open and rearrange a bunch of windows from the find tools (for side-by-side comparison, or just for managing workflows). We're wondering if this experience could be recreated by allowing the option to open multiple results in new tabs from the find tool in Leap.

  16. Implement a detailed and accessible audit log for all configuration changes made within the Polaris ILS System Administration (SA) and "adjacent" modules.

    Description of the Problem

    The Polaris ILS lacks a granular, searchable audit trail for System Administration changes. This makes it difficult to determine who made a specific change, when it occurred, and what the previous setting was. This ambiguity hinders troubleshooting when a configuration error occurs, complicates training, and reduces accountability.

  17. Currently, our patrons can still place holds when their card is expired and then come in to get their hold and don't realize they need to verify their address so we can renew their card. Blocking patrons from placing holds until their card has been renewed and giving them a pop-up explaining that their card has expired, would be great.

  18. It'd be nice if fines could be ineligible for being waived by staff from any library other than the owning library. In our consortia staff can waive any fine regardless of how much it is and what library it's from, this also goes for lost and damaged items on a patron's card. This can lead to staff just waiving fines that they shouldn't be waiving, or accidentally paying out lost/damaged items for another library, which we aren't supposed to do.   19. Incorrect email addresses and phone numbers in patron records cause hold and overdue notices to fail. This results in a negative patron experience and requires wasted staff time for troubleshooting and manual data correction. Polaris should behave like other systems and verify contact information before using it.

    When an email address is entered into a record, the system will send a message with a verification link. After the patron clicks the link, the email's status in the ILS will change from "Unverified" to "Verified". A visual indicator will show the verified status to both staff and patrons.
