  1. We’d like the ability to “bulk” cancel holds for items by status (lost, missing, withdrawn, etc.) either by being able to view the circulation status in the patron holds view, or by having the ability to “bulk” cancel holds from a record set.

  2. Cataloging staff use staff cards to request items in for call number changes or various projects. It would be helpful for them to be able to add those items into a Record Set for bulk changes directly from the patron record Hold list, in lieu of individually from the item records.

  3. Some items get stuck in transit and are never found again, it would be nice if these could automatically transition to missing after a customizable period of time, similar to Lost -> Withdrawn and Missing -> Withdrawn.

  4. Provide an option to schedule bulk fee waive in records on a reoccurring basis, such as daily, monthly, or other specified intervals. At the moment you can only select one date and run it once.

  5. Create a recall function that is separate from the holds queue so Technical Services can get items back (for relabeling, for weeding, etc.). Technical Services often use internal cards to place holds on a specific barcode. This sometimes work, but has a few drawbacks:
    1. The hold disrupts circulation (renewals, other holds, potentially in-transit)
    2. If the item goes into a status that cannot fulfill holds (e.g. item becomes LOST), the holds will go back the queue and be reassigned to another item on the bib. Technical Services usually needs the specific barcode, not just any item on the bib.

  7. When using the date picker, we'd love an option to select "Today" and have it set the date automatically for us. When updating really old cards, it can be a pain to have to select a date with the picker when we have to change every field. Typing is limited in its ability to be a workaround, because it requires specific formatting in order to work.

  8. Add the ability to add a 006 or 007 field to records via bibliographic bulk change in Leap. Leap has the ability to edit existing fixed fields via bulk change and the staff client offers the ability to add a new 006 or 007 via bulk change, so this would be part of bringing Leap into parity with the staff client. Bib records that come in from OCLC often lack the exact fixed field coding requires to display the correct Type of Material in Polaris so the ability to add missing fields via bulk change in Leap will make cataloging…

  9. Add a running total to the Fiscal Year - Funds tab - FREE BALANCE column.

Currently, there's no option in the PACREG application to allow patrons to choose to receive email notifications in plain text - but that option does exist in the new patron application on the staff side. Libraries using the PAC registration feature would like to have that included in the PACREG form.

  11. Our consortium just transitioned from Sierra to Polaris. When our item records were brought over, volume information was included in the volume field of an item record. Because no serial holdings information transferred from Sierra to Polaris, we have been recreating our Serial Holdings Records. When we generate items from the SHR, the issue information (chronology and/or enumeration) appears in a separated designation field on the record, which makes the display look terrible. An option to make the chronology/enumeration information appear in the item record's volume field instead of in a separate designation field is absolutely necessary for us to…

  14. For our system, having both an expiration date and an address check date is redundant, and staff constantly fail to update the address check date to match the expiration date. I'd like to have the ability to suppress the address check date as well as other fields, such as street address lines 1 and 2.

  16. The current method for changing a Polaris Staff Member's password is clunky and not ideal if part of a large library system. Additionally, all SA management is moving towards the web-based interface. It makes sense to incorporate staff password management into the SA web-based interface.

  18. We had a patron complaint that the email notices do not include magazine issue information, only the main title. The notices also do not include item barcodes, so there isn't any data to match against a specific issue. Could information from the Issue field in the item record be displayed in overdue notices?

Currently, the notices for Current Checked Out Items allows for daily or weekly scheduling, but it would be handy to have the ability to set this at a longer time frame such as monthly, quarterly or by semester as most of our materials check out for much longer periods of time (16 weeks or longer generally), and some users find the weekly reminders tedious.

    Either the option to set the automated notices to a longer time period, or the ability for patrons to choose a longer reminder period (opt in to weekly, monthly, etc notice) would be very helpful.

  20. Our Access Services staff use the Reader Services tab and the Note field to list patron details to assist with readers advisory for elderly and homebound patrons.

    They use the Preferences options to some degree, but have noticed a character limit in the Note field, which requires them to use abbreviations to fit their details. They asked: "Is there a way for Polaris to increase the character limit of the Note field in the reader services tab? Is there a way to increase the viewable space as well?"

    Character limit may be around 250 or so, so they are abbreviating…
