  1. Library's will benefit by being able to restrict patrons who reached specific number limit of a material type claim returns/never had from being able to borrow additional material type of the same type.

  2. Would love the ability to be able to edit dated notes so that information can be updated instead of building up a long list of notes on a patron's account.

  3. It's great being able to bulk-add records to a record set, but it would also be helpful to be able to bulk-remove records from a record set based on either another record set, or an Excel file.

Today in larger record sets it can be a pain to remove a medium to large amount of records. Our staff may work with 10,000+ entry record sets, and need to remove records meeting certain criteria that isn't visible in the fields when viewing a record set. This idea would give a user the flexibility to fill a separate record set based on…

  4. Currently there is a universal expanded/collapsed setting for the web parts. Providing individual settings would ensure patrons can immediatley view contents for key information.

E.g., Closure Notices and special events might be expanded by default as they include timely information while the other web parts (What's my PIN?, Add/edit Username, Suggest a Purchase) might be collapsed by default.

  5. Library staff would like to see cover images in the search results of the Find tool of Leap when they are looking to place holds for a patron. They can see the cover image if they go into the bib record, but not in the search results page (which is just a list).

  6. In the Polaris Toolbar, when handling serial issue records, there was a direct action (called "Create Item Record") that would create an item record from a serial issue record. This is helpful for our staff for copying over enumeration and designation information.

That same action is not present in Leap. Our staff would appreciate having this feature in Leap.

  7. In the Background Processing interface, MARC Import is the only view that does not support multi-select functionality (Shift+Click or Ctrl+Click) for selecting multiple records to delete. As a result, import files must be selected individually.

Our consortium processes between 70–100 MARC imports per month. Periodically cleaning up old import files is a routine administrative task, but the inability to select multiple files increases the time required to perform this maintenance. Other Background Processing views support range and multi-item selection, making the MARC Import screen inconsistent with the rest of the interface.

We are requesting that the MARC Import view support…

  8. There have been many times when we've needed to know which specific copy(barcode) is in transit to fill a hold. Currently the only option seems to be going thru each item record to see which is attached to the customer record. Very annoying and time consuming. Perhaps on the Holds Queue screen could include a column (Item Assigned) to list the barcode filling the hold when a hold has been trapped. Or on the Hold Request screen, on the Satisfied By menu a indicator of which item is being used for that hold. Or both.

  9. Supplier Templates are not available to choose from in the Bulk-Add to New PO screen. It would be helpful to have that drop-down menu available to us, like it is in the client app, and like it is for creating a New Purchase Order manually.

  10. The ability to block item barcodes that begin with specific digits, such as 978, would be a tremendous benefit for libraries. During item record creation, staff may accidentally scan the ISBN or UPC printed on the item instead of the library-assigned barcode intended for circulation use.

Providing the ability to restrict or block specific barcode patterns would help prevent incorrect barcodes from being saved to item records. For example, preventing an item record from being saved when the barcode begins with 978, the standard prefix for traditional ISBNs, would significantly reduce these types of errors and improve data accuracy.

  11. Currently, you can only log in to Leap using your workstation's assigned branch.

In the desktop client, you can use a workstation to log in to any branch.

Choosing a workstation in Leap that doesn't match your computer's system name breaks RFID functionality, as well as breaks reporting by workstation, and is not a workable solution.

This is impairing our ability to make a full move to Leap, and is one of the things that feels like a huge step backwards from the desktop staff client.

  12. AS a consortia that includes many small 1-2 person libraries, we would like the option added to force member libraries to use templates. No matter how much we encourage, train, and setup their templates, they are not being used consistently across all members. This is causing export issues when sharing our catalog statewide for ILL and will now being causing issues when we are a ztarget for the state ILL system. We can bulk change all these items, but that is wasted staff time, when it would just be easier to force those 1-2 person libraries to use the templates…

  13. PATRON REGISTRATION – LEAP & PAC, control over menu option displays
Allow control over what options show for Notices Address, Notification Option, and Text Messaging Phone on Leap and through Patron Registration via the PAC. Being able to remove menu items that don’t apply would solve notice issues. The drop down menus that list None and other non-system options create notification issues that could be avoided with control over these settings.

  14. Our consortium still uses the Polaris staff client for a couple of functions - primarily for offline circulation during upgrades and emergency outages (loss of internet or urgent server maintenance). For this reason, most senior circulation staff have to have the "Access patron import" permission as that controls access to the Bookmobile offline upload process. But we don't want all senior circulation staff to have the ability to import patron records - we want that to be limited to a very small group of staff who have been cleared to handle student data files (and have the approved secure file…

  15. The new Web version of System Administration is great, but I was sad to learn when upgrading from Polaris 7.7 to 8.0 that the search filter box for Workstations and Staff Users is no longer "sticky". In 7.7, I could enter a search for one of our Branches, click on a workstation, edit it, close it, and return to my filtered-by-branch search. Now, when you leave a workform, you return back to the full workstation list. Same for staff members. I'd like a button similar to the Leap "return to results" button in the workstation and staff member modules of…

  16. Currently, item condition information is put in the Free Text Block. However, that information can be overwritten (and lost) if the item becomes part of a record set that is universally updated. As it's important to know item condition issues, it would be great if the Physical Condition block could be a pop-up when it includes information.

  17. QZ Direct to Print has helped streamline slip printing in Leap but one annoying dialog we didn't have to deal with in the staff client remains. During an RFID operation, if Leap is asked to print a receipt, RFID processing is paused (suspended) to allow the receipt to be printed. A pop up message appears to allow the user to continue RFID processing of any remaining items once the receipt is printed. There is currently no way to suppress this message.

  18. In larger consortia, it's very impractical to have granular patron codes per library or branch. Our resident patron codes are shared by all the libraries, but this creates some problems for certain materials that libraries can't reasonably share. The Preferred Borrower hold limit can help with this, but it puts the control of circulating restricted materials on the staff. If a Preferred Borrower setting could apply to checkout of certain materials the way holds can be limited with Preferred Borrower settings, staff would not have to struggle with overrides or demanding patrons from the next town over.

  19. A patron said that it would be useful if they could see, as a logged-in patron, holds that had been cancelled due to them not coming to pick them up in time. It would be great if this also allowed patrons to reactivate the hold from there. Thank you for considering this.

  20. We would like the option to link invoices together in Leap like we can in the client. We use this feature to keep track of credit memos by linking the credit memo to the original invoice.
