  1. When using Leap on an iPad, if you select a record to view and then close it you are sent back to the beginning of the list. It would be an improvement to be able to go right back to where you selected the item record.

  2. We just upgraded to 6.5 and I'm very pleased with the ability to save record set changes as a template to use again and again. I make frequent identical changes on bibs in bulk mode to fields for incoming records. I know some people use MarcEdit for this purpose. Instead of having go "outside the system" for this process, it would be fabulous to be able to save frequently and repeated bibliographic bulk changes as templates for future records.

  3. Libraries need a way to quickly alert communities to closures during an emergency across all PAC pages. A banner appears across all pages of the PAC and is easily edited.

  4. I'm repeatedly finding instances where a patron is missing their registration date. At first, I thought it was migrated data, but after updating those records, I discovered it happening over and over. Please prevent the registration date from being deleted.

    We have some third-party applications that break if there isn't a registration date. Also, we use that date for statistics and to narrow down results.

To be able to select multiply purchase order line segments and make a bulk change to a particular field, (eg. coll. code, fund code) Sometimes an error occurs in the import process and each line has to be populated manually. It would be amazing to be able to select an entire column and make the change.

  6. We circulate culture passes (e.g. admission to local museums, the zoo, etc.) that don't need to be returned. I've created some queries to easily identify the items that are due so that staff can check them in. It would be nice to have a setting that would automatically check the items in on their due date so that manual steps don't need to happen. We check the items out for statistical purposes and because we want to limit how many passes are checked out to a patron at a given time.

  7. In Admin > Parameters > Patron Services > Patron registration options > Required Fields tab only five fields are listed - Address, Birth date, Gender, Password, and Statistical class. We would like to require that Notification Option be filled in before the record is saved. There may be fields that other libraries would like to make required, such as Phone.

    The patron's notification preference should always be selected before an account is created. There must be a way for the patron to receive library notices for holds, reminders, overdues, and bills.

  8. Adding a icon/button within the Patron Status "Items Out" view which would send an email to the email address on file for the patron which lists all items currently checked out and their due date.

    There is already a print icon/button on the Patron Status "Items Out" view which can be used to print the list of items out and their due date. Adding an email icon/button would allow patrons to receive this list easily via email when they come to the desk and ask staff for a list of the items checked out.

  9. Currently, a library may limit an item to be holdable for pickup at a single branch location. This setting allows the item to be limited to pick up at the item's assigned branch only. While this feature may work for single-branch libraries, it does not function in a practical way for multi-branch libraries. Expanding this feature to have a library-level option would increase the usability of this setting.

    Example 1: Library A has 3 branches. They want to make their mobile hotspots holdable for pickup at any of their 3 branches. They do not want their hotspots to be placed…

  10. Currently, outbound Telephony places a call to patrons that a hold is available almost instantaneously after the item has been checked in and moved to a Held status. For some of our larger libraries, the checked in material may not be available for pickup for 2-3 hours - but they have patrons who are coming to the desk expecting to be able to pick up their item right away because they received that instantaneous call. (sometimes the patrons are in the building, get the call, and simply walk downstairs to the hold shelves)

  12. Enhancement request to update the capabilities of Did You Mean? for search results in Polaris catalog. Requesting an audit of the spell check dictionary and a request for an option for a Spanish language dictionary. Revised 08/10/21

  13. In the Cataloging module of Polaris, we are able to Bulk Change bibliographic records to change the record status from Provisional to Final ('Save provisional records as final'). During imports, this allows us to push records into the system if there are known duplicates, MARC errors, etc.

    It would be great to have the same functionality for Item Records: to be able to save hundreds of Provisional records as Final instead of having to click on each one and manually save them as Final.

  14. We'd like to have Leap's quick search box do a keyword search instead of phrase, or at least have that be an optional setting. Currently searching something like 'help stockett' (without quotes) looks for that as a phrase, so we don't get any hits. Other searches might bring up random bibs that do have that phrase, but not everything that would be found with keyword. The PAC's quick search uses keyword. I'm not sure why it would be helpful for the default quick search in Leap to do something different. It seems like most staff would expect a simple keyword…

  15. We've noticed a significant problem with staff creating holds on items that can't be loaned (non-cirulating; lost; deleted; etc.) because they have the ability to bypass item block messages. We tried to fix this gap by removing the "Override Request Blocks" permission from general circ staff, but have found that when we do staff can't bypass patron alerts (as simple as 'patron has a hold to pick up').

  16. The item hold setting option, "Days Past First Available," was added in Polaris 6.4. This hold setting is not currently included in item bulk change options and should be added in.

    Libraries who want to begin using this feature cannot currently bulk change existing items to use this setting (or, if already using, change the existing value). All other item hold setting options can be bulk changed. For parity, the "days past first available" should be added as a bulk change option as well.

  17. Once you create a record set, it's very annoying to try and break it into smaller record sets (ESPECIALLY in Leap). Given that bulk changes are supposed to be limited to 10k items or less (according to my site manager), it would be really helpful if there was a way to break up a record set into smaller ones. Ideally I could pick to split the record set in half or in multiple sets of maximum X records.

  18. Adding a date picker to form fields like "Activation Date" or "Suspend" improves the patron experience and ease of use of date fields.

    Patrons using the PAC on mobile in particular would be spared the tedious process of adding dates using the number keyboard on their device; this might also cut down on the number of times the wrong date is submitted, removing a source of frustration.

  20. It would be helpful to be able to customize what material types appear as choices for faceted searching under the Narrow your search column in the PAC. As it is, there are often duplicate facets for the same item records (DVD = Projected Medium = Videorecording = Visual Materials) as shown in the attached Idea Image. In this example, for my community I would only keep DVD.
