  1. Having patrons blocked from placing holds if there account is blocked is greatly needed, as patrons can currently place holds through Leap, Vega, Mobile App even if they are blocked for having too many fines.

  2. Create a recall function that is separate from the holds queue so Technical Services can get items back (for relabeling, for weeding, etc.). Technical Services often use internal cards to place holds on a specific barcode. This sometimes work, but has a few drawbacks:
    1. The hold disrupts circulation (renewals, other holds, potentially in-transit)
    2. If the item goes into a status that cannot fulfill holds (e.g. item becomes LOST), the holds will go back the queue and be reassigned to another item on the bib. Technical Services usually needs the specific barcode, not just any item on the bib.

  3. The ability to copy existing records makes record creation more efficient. In the Client, staff have the ability to copy an existing supplier record to create another one with similar information. This happens when staff have multiple supplier records for the same vendor because they have separate account numbers. A copy button is not in the supplier record workform in Leap yet. It should be added to the actions drop-down menu of the supplier record like it is in other record types. This will allow staff to feel like the transition to Leap will be easier since it is a…

  4. As a multi-branch system that floats some of our collections, we desperately need a way to set limits on the number of copies on shelf without giving up our ability to set limits on overall floating collection size. Currently in Polaris you must choose one limit or the other. Being able to spread copies throughout our system makes them more available for discovery and increases circulation.

  5. Acquisitions staff frequently need to bulk change item records for a specific order. This is commonly done for orders that were placed manually instead of using EDI or if Polaris created item records using the wrong template. In the Client, it can efficiently be done as an ad hoc bulk change by opening the list of items that are linked to a PO or invoice. The ad hoc bulk change button should be added to the tab that contains the list of item records linked to the PO and Invoice in Leap in order to make this process more efficient.…

  6. In our consortium, libraries weed items based on their circulation almost exclusively, not based on how new or old they are or how many lifetime circs they had. The most important piece of information to them, the Last circ date, however, is missing from the weeding template criteria. We are aware that you can add dates to the power search for inclusion criteria, but those have to be specific dates, so they can't be reused as criteria several months or years later - you'd have to continue remaking the criteria with new dates each time, which isn't convenient or efficient.…

  7. We have a long list of vendors and would like to clean it up, removing any who we no longer purchase from. This can't be done because of the links and layers in Acquisitions to attached purchase orders and invoices. It would help with clutter if there was a way to delete these suppliers or hide them in some way.

  8. Libraries need a way to quickly alert communities to closures during an emergency across all PAC pages. A banner appears across all pages of the PAC and is easily edited.

  9. Currently, there is only one way to receive and invoice orders in Leap. This workflow consists of receiving the line item from the purchase order and copying it to the invoice. In the Client, staff have the option to use a more efficient process called Rapid Receipt. Rapid Receipt allows line items to be received and copied to the invoice at the same time. In our consortia, a significant amount of libraries use Rapid Receipt. They are concerned that it has not been added to Leap yet. Since Rapid Receipt is available in the Client, the same functionality should be…

  10. Picklist is great - unless you are a large location that needs to distribute the list among several staff and do not have devices for everyone. Currently in staff client, we can sort multiple columns - example, by Collection then by call number within collection, then hide unwanted columns, print and distribute pages among multiple staff. You can only sort 1x in Leap and then there is a lot of white space, etc. which results in paper waste. It would be great to have the ability to fine sort, hide columns and headers when printing Picklist. Without that, staff will…

  11. Unless I'm doing something wrong, when I am in a PO and go into a PO LINE to check ISBN, discount or whatever, I hit save and go back and it takes me to the top of the PO. Some of my PO's are really big so I'd like to know how to just go back to the spot I was at before instead of the top.

  12. In the patron registration form in LEAP there is a reading history checkbox. If the patron has a reading history, clearing the checkbox and saving the record deletes that reading history permanently, and there is no warning to staff about what clearing the checkbox actually does. On clearing the checkbox, please add a warning dialog that says, "This patron's reading history will be permanently deleted. Please confirm that you want to delete it." [OK][Cancel] with focus on Cancel. This way staff will have to confirm overtly that they want to delete patron data and will be less likely to make…

  14. When an item record set is viewed on a tablet or mobile device in Leap, the record set layout changes to accommodate the change in screen size. This includes the Shelf Location column no longer displaying. Staff create item record sets for displays and when they go out into the stacks with Leap on a tablet to pull the items, not having the Shelf Location included slows them down as they have to open the item records individually.

  16. When sorting by a column, then choosing an item and hitting located, it resets the sort back to the default.

This is not ideal at our larger locations who may be pulling dozens of items at a time.

  17. Create a way to convert an Item specific (not Volume specific) hold request to a First Available request. To often staff create a hold for a patron from the Item Find Tool and create the request for that specific item which usually delays the fulfillment of that request.

  18. I'm repeatedly finding instances where a patron is missing their registration date. At first, I thought it was migrated data, but after updating those records, I discovered it happening over and over. Please prevent the registration date from being deleted.

    Idea Value
We have some third-party applications that break if there isn't a registration date. Also, we use that date for statistics and to narrow down results.

  19. Scenario:
    1. An item that has been trapped and is (most often) sent from another library to fill a hold for pickup at another branch.
    2. The Hold is put on the shelf for the customer at a branch.
    3. After X days, it shows up on the Unclaimed list.
    4. Staff go to the shelf to remove it, but it is not there.
    5. Staff check the system - the item has not been checked out by anyone (sometimes customer are confused and think a hold is actually already checked out to them a la picking up an online…

  20. In the Polaris client the bibliographic keyword index does not include or link to terms found in the cross reference fields (4XX & 5XX) of authority records, essentially making these references useless during a keyword search. These additional terms within authority records should be indexed in the bib record index for better, accurate search results.

The only way to access "SEE" references (4XX) during a bibliographic search is to choose a specific index (search by Author, for example) and change "type" to "Browse" rather than keyword, phrase, or exact match search.

For example, the actor Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor's name authority heading…
