Auto update member code from Junior to Adult when they turn 18
Having member codes change automatically based off patron age, changing junior to adult when they turn 18.

Seriously, how is this not upvoted by every library that uses the system? At a minimum, the ability to bulk update any patron information according to a predefined set up criteria would be a good idea. The current process has us distributing age data each month to an array of customer facing staff who have to go and update each patron through the regular interface, touching each one. That's really a lot of nonsense that should easily be a scheduled job.

Our libraries really want us to be able to add this feature. It would be most helpful at the consortium level.

Yes, please! We have roughly 500k account on the books so this monthly conversion process is rather impactful for us. Any customizability from there would just be awesome icing on the cake.

This would be nice not only for use of Juvenile to Adult at age 18, but to be able to configure the system for all ages. Many of our libraries use age 16. Adult to Senior is a great idea also.

agree that multiple paths & customizable age level would be important here. We do this through reports/bulk changes currently to move patrons from Children to Teen & Teen to Adult. Having these accurate is important for reporting.

Setting up multiple paths would be important for us too. Juvenile to Teen, Teen to Adult, Adult to Senior, etc.

At the moment, we address this by running a patron search based on birth date each month, then adding a blocking note saying that the patron is now over 18 and needs to apply for an adult card. When they do so, our circulation staff waives any previous fines.
It would be much simpler if it were an automatic process with configurable settings.

This idea touches on an issue that our system is currently grappling with.
Our county's Legal team has recently become aware of our typical method to manually move Juvenile patrons to Adult patrons when they turn 18 and ask us to do so.
However, this bypasses the agreement to the Terms and Conditions and potentially gives an adult card to a now adult patron who one, didn't sign for the T&C for the card, and two, if there are Fines/Fees, shouldn't legally be responsible for those Fines/Fees.
We're currently in the process of creating a number of workaround scenarios around this issue.
So just as a suggestion, you may want to consider this when creating this kind of process and possibly consider whether there could be some method to incorporate having the new adult sign the T&C before being able to use their new Adult card. -

As Joy notes, we would need the ability to customize any such feature because we have multiple age-based codes that would need to be advanced at two different ages (14 for one set and 18 for the other). That said, this shouldn't be too difficult to implement given that our consortium runs a script / stored procedure to update our records right now.

We use 16 as the threshold, so there would also need to be a setting for the threshold to be set.
