  2. The client has a direct link from the invoice line items to the holds queue. In Leap, getting to the queue requires going through the item (and sometimes bib).

  3. In the client, funds link directly to invoices, POs, POLIs, and other related records. Funds in Leap have very few links. Direct linking to working acq records facilitates tech services workflows.

  4. In the client, a POLI can be cancelled from the PO, POLI view or from within the POLI workform. In Leap, it can only be cancelled from the PO, POLI tab. Adding the ability to cancel from the POLI workform would reduce steps and reduce the likelihood of staff selecting the wrong POLI to cancel. This would help with the transition of tech services to Leap.

  5. Can the Serials Check-In Utility in Leap allow the merging of claimed and received issues? This functionality currently exists in the desktop client. This is a barrier to getting staff in both tech services and service desks to move Serials work over to Leap.

  6. In the client, staff often use the link to individual purchase order line items, but this is not yet available in Leap. Because an invoice may have many linked POs, and POs may have many POLIs, it can be difficult to find the correct POLI without access to direct links.

Adding POLI links would reduce friction for tech services staff making the move to Leap.

  7. In the web PolarisAdmin, provide a button in "Dashboards: Web part editor: User defined" to assign/remove the web part directly to web pages.

Subsequent idea: Provide an option to assign/remove a web part to all web pages.
Subsequent idea: Provide an option to mark web pages as favorites or frequently used so we can quickly add/remove the web part to a set of web pages. E.g., Apply the updated Closure Notice to default.aspx, login.aspx, patronaccount/default.aspx, patronaccount/itemsout.aspx, etc.

    Idea Value
Offering this button would streamline the process of adding/updating the web part and immediately assigning/removing the part to its relevant pages.…

  8. Allow PowerPAC to lock independently of the other Polaris Admin features (client and web PolarisAdmin).

PowerPAC editing is locked when another SysAdmin is using the Administration Explorer. My primary responsibilities in the client are to update the PowerPAC, especially notes for upcoming library closures (holidays, staff development day).

    Idea value
Provides uninterrupted workflow for primary SysAdmin to continue working when the web services focused SysAdmin needs to update the PowerPAC dashboard elements/layout.

  9. My library would like an email to be sent to patrons who use the self-registration form in the PAC with a confirmation that the registration has gone through and with reminder information that they will need to come in to complete their full registration. This would also allow us to confirm that we have a correct contact for the patron.

  10. Currently with PAPI there is the ability to GET the contents of a Record Set and PUT additional records into Record Sets. We would love the Record Set API to be fully built out with POST methods (to create new Record Sets) and a DELETE method (to delete an existing Record Set).

  11. Currently, notifications in Polaris can only be filtered by branch. For example, one branch can enable specific notifications and another can disable them. We would love the ability to apply more granular filtering to determine which patrons receive certain notifications.
A workflow for us is billing notifications. Our library policy exempts certain patrons from billing based on their Patron Code. Because Polaris does not currently allow notifications to be filtered by Patron Code, we must manually work around the existing workflow to align with our policy.
We would love the ability, within SA, to filter notifications by patron attributes such…

  12. The Dated Patron notes in Polaris 8.0 do not allow you to highlight the text for copying - the field is protected. Staff would like to be able to highlight and copy the entire note or specific parts of the note (like barcodes) in order to quickly and easily either re-create the note with changes (since it can't be edited) or do a search for a related item or patron recorded in the note.

  13. As of 8.0, users can export MARC bibliographic data, but not MARC authority data. Can this utility be updated to also allow export of authority data? This would help catalogers during cleanup and maintenance projects, and it would make Leap functionality align with the desktop client.
Example of a case where this function would be useful: Vendors like Backstage may ask for a sample of existing authority records. Being able to use Leap to export MARC authority files would help libraries with limited or no desktop client access.

  14. Can the Serials Check-In utility be updated to allow bulk deletion of predicted serials issues? When a weekly/bi-weekly publication changes the day of the week that issues are released, it is easier to update predicted issues in the desktop client* but staff without authorization to create prediction patterns cannot complete this work in Leap. This slows down access for community members.
*In the desktop client, staff can bulk delete all but one predicted issue, edit the remaining predicted issue to match the new publication date, and then bulk predict issues to match the new day of week without closing and…

  15. I know that it is planned to be able to run SQL jobs in the Web Based System Admin but that you won't be able to make changes from there, only to view data etc. I would love to be able to make changes through SQL in the System Admin and to have it be permission based.

  16. With the new option to update patron codes based on age criteria (which we're excited about!), it would be useful to be able to send notices to patrons whose account type was auto-updated and/or to pull a report we could use for sending out messaging to the impacted patrons in our newsletter platform.

  18. Presently in the Polaris client there are two paths to updating a branch's hours of operation in the Administration Explorer. The first is to access the table in the SA path Parameters > Patron Services > Hours of Operations; the second is to right-click the branch name, choose to edit it, and in the new window that opens go to the Tools menu and choose 'Define Hours of Operation'. The first of these two approaches requires the permission 'Modify parameters: Allow', and the second does not.

We rely on staff being able to use the second approach for editing hours…

  19. The option to link headings from a bib in Leap was a needed improvement, but there are still issues which hinder the feasibility of cataloging in Leap.

When using the "check headings" feature, the search defaults to the local database. When you switch to searching remote databases, the search term is deleted, meaning that you have to copy and paste or retype the search. It would be very helpful if the "Authority Record" and "Authority Record (remote databases)" options were combined. Ideally, I would see a single Authority Record search option which defaults to local records but gives the option…

  20. When doing a bibliographic record search, you can filter by Collection (which is only assigned at the item level) but not by Statistical Code (which is also only assigned on the item level).

It would be helpful to have the option to filter by stat code as well.
