  1. Library staff have asked for the following translations to be made available so that patrons can select them in Vega Discover:

    • Arabic
    • Urdu
    • Korean
    • Russian
    • Telugu
    • Tagalog
    • Bengali
    • Hindi
    • Gujarati

Many of our libraries serve linguistically diverse populations, but I know that Gujarati, Hindi, and Urdu would be adopted by several of them.

  2. During implementation, saved searches should be imported as well as saved lists when a library requests it. We recently went through Vega implementation and patrons are very disappointed that their saved searches aren't in the Account Portal. While they can recreate the searches, this discourages Vega adoption by a large number of our patrons. They would rather say within the PowerPAC and continue running their searches there.

  3. Could the hold position be refined so that a patron from Library A can see their position in line specifically for their home library’s copies? Leap already supports this—when the holds queue is filtered by the patron’s library, it correctly shows the local position.

For example, The Correspondent currently has 426 holds across the consortium. When I place a hold, Vega shows my position as No. 427 (see screenshot 1). However, my home library has several copies, and in Leap my local position is No. 11 (see screenshot 2).

It would be much clearer for patrons if Vega displayed their…

  4. This would ensure patrons can put holds on what they can actually checkout, by determiners like their patron type, checkout location and the item’s type. This would reduce frustration, failed requests, and staff intervention. For example, our corporate library collection can only be borrowed by patrons with a Corporate ptype. Currently when a title exists in both the Corporate and general collections and is available to borrow in the general collection, patrons retrieve an “unrequestable” message from Vega if they select to "Request any edition". This occurs correctly for patrons without the required Corporate ptype when they attempt to place…

  5. Please allow more options for OAI-PMH connections. I was told that currently, only recollect is an option. I was trying to connect a repository that uses Islandora at the moment, but will be switching to ContentDM in 2026. I would love for both Islandora and ContentDM to be available for OAI-PMH so I can get some local historical collections into our library catalogue.

  8. Similar to a feature BiblioCore offers, libraries want to see Lists that other libraries across the country/world are creating. Enhancement request could be to give libraries the ability to Share Showcases outside their organization.

  10. Items that have zero item records but have Polaris SHRs on "Not currently Received " status show that they are "on shelf" at the branches with the SHRs even though there are no items at any of the branches. This had lead to patrons coming in looking for standing orders/ serial titles etc. that are not there.

  11. The current default selection for a MARC extraction is "All Records". If a user clicks submit by accident, this can take hours to complete. Default selection should be changed to " New or Updated Since <today's date>" as that is a faster extraction (and probably more used)

  12. I know the information display on search result cards has been discussed for re-designing to make it easier for casual users. I hope that will extend to the information and buttons that live under the search bar but before the results as well.

In our catalog, customizations like the text strings and Vega guides have made it busier admittedly, but I would like the text sizes, button shapes, colours, and/or selectability indicators to be more consistent and arranged in a way that is more intuitive for navigation (easier said than done I know).

It is especially noticeable on smaller screens.…

  13. We are LOVING the fact that Syndetics Unbound pulls in reading-level information and readalikes. We anticipate this will be very popular with teachers and parents, and it would be awesome if there was a way to easily export a list of the titles available at that level. As far as we can tell, right now there isn't a way to add all of the titles to a list or export/print the list.

  14. We use a staff account to create curated lists we can send to patrons as part of a personalized reader's advisory program. We've noticed that the high number of lists (>350) is creating marked slow-down and functionality issues in Vega Discover when logged into this account. We were told the number of lists is likely causing the issue. Consider creating the ability for staff to have high-content accounts for situations like this.

  15. Please add select boxes next to each title in grid view to allow users to use bulk holds while viewing search results in that view.

The "Select All" and "Place holds" options appear at the top of the search page in grid view, but there are no select boxes for individual titles. It would be great to have select boxes appear in grid view. If this can't be done, it would probably be better to not include the Select All and Place holds options in this view either since not being able to select individual titles makes this feel broken.

  16. When a checked out OverDrive item is viewed in Vega's "My Bookshelf," the user is given the option to "check in" the item using a button to the left of the listing. Clicking a caret to the right of the button makes an additional button, "get item," appear which, when clicked, allows the user to choose how they would like to view the item (read in Kindle, read in browser, download ePub or PDF, etc). Although most OverDrive users will likely be accessing their items from Libby/Kindle directly, it would be nice if the "get item" button in Vega was…

  17. Many of our patrons prefer to control their Overdrive/Libby account through the catalog. There is currently no freeze option for Overdrive holds within Vega Discover. Not sure if this is because we don't import the Overdrive records into our ILS (Sierra) or not.

  18. The Log In pop up disappears if the mouse is ever-so-slightly off the tab, and keeps closing. This can be frustrating. Can this be "sticky" once clicked, so it doesn't disappear while patrons are typing?

  19. By default Vega Discover loads zoomed in at 100% which cuts off a lot of useful information for the patron. The first record listed cuts off requiring scrolling and all the "Refine Results" don't show requiring scrolling. Vega requires an excessive amount of scrolling to see basic results. Zooming out to 90% rectifies this issue. I would like the option in admin settings to customize the default zoom level 70-100%. This will enhance the usability of Vega Discover and allow patrons the ability to see more vega options by default.

  20. We have the ability to turn off "Other books in the series" in our Syndetics settings which turns off the gray covers for items not owned in that section, but unfortunately we have no way to turn off just the "Similar Series" section of "You May also Like" without also turning off the "Top Picks" for individual titles in the "You May also Like" section. We would like "Top Picks" to be separate from "Similar Series" in the settings for "You May Also Like" so we can turn off one without turning off the other.
