  2. While testing out editing patron information in Vega, we ran across an issue. The mobile phone number field in the patron record edit maps to the 'o' field which we use in Sierra as a parent name field. It would make more sense to map to 'p' (telephone2) for us.

    Current Workflow

    1. The patron logs into Vega Discover.
    2. From their profile, they edit their information to add/edit a Mobile phone number.
    3. That phone number is mapping to Sierra's 'o' field

  3. After creating a site in the site configuration, you can limit to a specific location like main library or branch library. I would like to be able to chose all of our locations but be able to specify a "home" library which would reorder the collection location identical to when you log in to an account. This "home library" would still show all the locations having copies but would reorder them giving a specific location preference. You could also use this to select and display specific hours and info in the library info window. I'm thinking of this for an…

  4. In Vega eCommerce setup, you have to enter a whole dollar amount as a minimum amount that can be paid online. We require a minimum of $1.01, which is confusing to patrons if we configure this at $1 See screen shot.

  5. We would like to be able to suppress certain formats from appearing in the format list so it isn't so cluttered for patrons. We are aware that would eliminate certain results, but we would prefer it to appear cleaner rather than with so many options that patrons might not even understand.

If someone joins online we set a default passcode and when sending out the details to the patron by email we encourage them to make sure they change the default passcode to something more personal as soon as possible. However, it would be good to have an actual prompt in Vega Bookshelf when they first logon to remind them to change their passcode or better still force them to change their passcode.

  9. After having just been in Encore to renew, now I’m in Vega. What I don’t like about this screen is the lack of item related info. Example, Let’s say the 2 SirDynix bibs are magazine issues and I want to renew the May 21 issue – which one is it? The Encore screen provides barcode and call number, so you can differentiate between the items. This would help situations like this.

  10. Hello, in our old library catalog, patrons could request items not yet held by the library. I'm not referring to requests from other branches or other libraries, but rather requests for purchaises. A form for this was integrated into the catalog, which was then automatically sent as an email to the library's email program. This feature made processing purchaise requests quick and easy.

    Such an option would be great in Vega as well. How are purchaise requests currently recorded there?

  11. We'd like the option to make some of the terms and vocabulary used in Vega Discover to be editable:

    • At patron login, we'd like to be able to change "Passcode" to something else ("PIN", as this is the terminology we use with our patrons);

    • Also at login, we'd like to be able to change "Barcode" to something else ("Library Card Number")

    • We'd also like to update the default wording that is used when patrons choose to save their reading history, so that we can make a reference to such data being accessible to law enforcement when the patron opts in

  12. We have recently had the need for Showcase Admins to search all of our showcases by author. This can happen when libraries suddenly want to remove or add an author to a number of showcases, but don't know if they are already a part of that showcase.

    We tried using the author record for this purpose, but authors can be associated with hundreds of resources so this is not a practical way to search for this data.

  13. Implement a new function or API endpoint that allows libraries to easily retrieve the structured data (metadata, ID/ISBN, image URL, link) for any active "Showcase". The data should be presented in a standard, machine-readable format like JSON or XML.

    While Vega Discover allows us to embed the visual display of a Showcase on other websites, this does not give us the underlying data. This data could be used to include Showcases i mobile apps and integrate with other systems and external analytics tools. They could also be used by patrons to easily keep track of new additions to "permanent" showcases.

  14. We would like the ability to post notes in the fines and fees section of the patron account to alert patrons of exceptions (in PayPal) when paying via credit card. There is confusion when payment do not go through and there is no reason given (void, incorrect credit card number entered, American Express not accepted...)

Instead of only allowing a pickup location to be set as closed in Vega Discover for all libraries/branches, it would be helpful to be able to show a specific pickup location by a specific library/branch only. For example, we are a cooperative location. We are not a library. But our staff place holds to be picked up at our location. However, patrons accidentally choose our pickup location. On our old system, we were able to set it up so a particular pickup location would only display by OPAC profile (login). Can this functionality be added?

  17. The current default selection for a MARC extraction is "All Records". If a user clicks submit by accident, this can take hours to complete. Default selection should be changed to " New or Updated Since <today's date>" as that is a faster extraction (and probably more used)

  18. I know the information display on search result cards has been discussed for re-designing to make it easier for casual users. I hope that will extend to the information and buttons that live under the search bar but before the results as well.

    In our catalog, customizations like the text strings and Vega guides have made it busier admittedly, but I would like the text sizes, button shapes, colours, and/or selectability indicators to be more consistent and arranged in a way that is more intuitive for navigation (easier said than done I know).

  19. We are LOVING the fact that Syndetics Unbound pulls in reading-level information and readalikes. We anticipate this will be very popular with teachers and parents, and it would be awesome if there was a way to easily export a list of the titles available at that level. As far as we can tell, right now there isn't a way to add all of the titles to a list or export/print the list.

  20. We use a staff account to create curated lists we can send to patrons as part of a personalized reader's advisory program. We've noticed that the high number of lists (>350) is creating marked slow-down and functionality issues in Vega Discover when logged into this account. We were told the number of lists is likely causing the issue. Consider creating the ability for staff to have high-content accounts for situations like this.
