  1. Are displays customizable? For example, could we exclude the words “collection” or “shelf location?” example: Shelf location 1st Floor Display Readers' Services | Collection Adult Fiction

  2. Recently this was fixed in Vega intentionally, however this auto-filling used to save our staff time in their weekly tasks. Ideally when you select a showcase, the title would be auto populated into the 'Showcase block title' box. Instead, it remains unchanged from the previous showcase. In the page preview, the showcase itself successfully changes (the books reflect the new selection), but the title doesn't update. This means our staff must type in the title each time.

  4. We plan to experiment with customized code to build this feature, but it would be ideal to have the option to add a customizable text bubble at the top of specific showcases within the 'Audience Theme' set to 'Children.' This bubble could be edited by library staff. Our goal is to include early language learning prompts within each showcase category, such as 'What sound does a dog make?' under the Subject - Dogs, or 'What is your favorite bird?' under Birds. While we're confident we can implement this with custom JS, we are concerned that it might break with future…

  5. We’ve noticed that Discover doesn’t display the “recently returned” shelving status that comes from Polaris even though "Recently Returned" appears as an option in our Item Mapping list. "Recently Returned" is not a true item status in Polaris. The item status for recently returned items is actually “In” (which is how these items appear in Discover), but the database flags an item depending on whether or not it is also considered "recently returned."

    Discover offers its own perfectly good “recently returned” functionality, but it would be nice if the “Recently Returned” message that patrons see in Discover could match the…

  7. In line with ideas about customizing the experience more to the patron, and adding more useful information to the lists feature, I would like if the messages like "you have one copy checked out" or "you have one copy on hold" appeared when patrons are looking at their own lists (like it does on resource pages, but without having to click into each one to see the status). It could also be tied to data from the reading history to say "borrowed once before," etc. This would help patrons who are researching a topic and bookmarking many potential resources, or…

  9. When creating a bookmarked list, can the warning "law enforcement may be able to access without your consent" still be displayed like it is in the current PAC when a list is created?

  11. When editing the Manage Translations strings, it would be helpful to know where we could look at the context for strings and/or confirm that a change was implemented.

    For example, there are various "GET IT" strings, such as:
    "getFromAmazon": "Get from Amazon",
    "getIt": "GET IT",
    "getItBtn": "get it",
    "getItem": "Get Item",
    "getMaterial": "Get Material",
    "holdGetIt": "Get It"

    It would be helpful to have clarity on where/the context in which each of these is used.

  12. This will allow us to directly link to a sign in page from our website rather than send them to catalog where they need to click login again. It was something we had in the Polaris PowerPAC. It also helped with e-sources since some of these databases require validation and it would need somewhere to send them to login.

  13. One of our member libraries mentioned this as a possible feature request for Vega Discover.

    They stated, "A great would be if you can click the library name to display item availability if under the location drop down if you can also display the library address and phone number. This would make it easy to click the phone number to call the library to check on real time status of an item for patrons etc. Very useful for staff and patrons!

    Let's also have the library address be a clickable link that hops into google maps to navigate to the…

  14. For libraries with a large number of collection sites, it becomes labor-intensive to manually create entries for each site. It would improve workflow if an event could be assigned to multiple collections sites when it's being created. There could also be a "Global Event" type that would add it to all collections sites.

  15. When an 856 is in an Overdrive record, it converts to a resource entity in Polaris during the integration process. However, a library can certainly add their own 856 to the bib record after the fact (that will say something along the lines of “Click here to check out this title on the Overdrive site!”).

    A library added their own 856 tags, which caused an issue within Vega. When they are removed, the "GET IT" button shows; however, when they are in the MARC record, not only does the "Check Availability" button show instead of "GET ITEM", but the 856…

  16. We'd like the ability to suppress the cancel hold button from My Bookshelf. It's not possible for our patrons who place holds for interloans to cancel their holds for interloans from My Bookshelf. When they try to do so they retrieve a message in red text advising "!Requested resource was not found'. This is very confusing to our patrons. Suppressing the ability to do this would be very helpful, and would reduce patron confusion.

  18. We'd like Vega to sort the volumes in a serial holdings display with the latest issues at the top for easy patron access.

    For example, we have People magazine, with hundreds of items in our holdings. With the PAC display, the lastest issues are listed at the top, descending from there by date, so patrons can easily see what the latest issue is that we have and can quickly place a hold (see attached file "pac-request-list" screenshot). Vega seems to sort oldest-to-newest, so the user will have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the list to find…

  19. It would be helpful for patrons to be able to refine Showcase results by selecting facets as in the advanced search (e.g., to filter by availability, location, format, etc.).

  20. Similar to a feature BiblioCore offers, libraries want to see Lists that other libraries across the country/world are creating. Enhancement request could be to give libraries the ability to Share Showcases outside their organization.
