  1. We’ve noticed that Discover doesn’t display the “recently returned” shelving status that comes from Polaris even though "Recently Returned" appears as an option in our Item Mapping list. "Recently Returned" is not a true item status in Polaris. The item status for recently returned items is actually “In” (which is how these items appear in Discover), but the database flags an item depending on whether or not it is also considered "recently returned."

    Discover offers its own perfectly good “recently returned” functionality, but it would be nice if the “Recently Returned” message that patrons see in Discover could match the…

  2. See how in encore it shows NCPL items first and if its available. That would be great.

  3. In line with ideas about customizing the experience more to the patron, and adding more useful information to the lists feature, I would like if the messages like "you have one copy checked out" or "you have one copy on hold" appeared when patrons are looking at their own lists (like it does on resource pages, but without having to click into each one to see the status). It could also be tied to data from the reading history to say "borrowed once before," etc. This would help patrons who are researching a topic and bookmarking many potential resources, or…

  5. When creating a bookmarked list, can the warning "law enforcement may be able to access without your consent" still be displayed like it is in the current PAC when a list is created?

  7. When editing the Manage Translations strings, it would be helpful to know where we could look at the context for strings and/or confirm that a change was implemented.

    For example, there are various "GET IT" strings, such as:
    "getFromAmazon": "Get from Amazon",
    "getIt": "GET IT",
    "getItBtn": "get it",
    "getItem": "Get Item",
    "getMaterial": "Get Material",
    "holdGetIt": "Get It"

    It would be helpful to have clarity on where/the context in which each of these is used.

  8. This will allow us to directly link to a sign in page from our website rather than send them to catalog where they need to click login again. It was something we had in the Polaris PowerPAC. It also helped with e-sources since some of these databases require validation and it would need somewhere to send them to login.

  9. One of our member libraries mentioned this as a possible feature request for Vega Discover.

    They stated, "A great would be if you can click the library name to display item availability if under the location drop down if you can also display the library address and phone number. This would make it easy to click the phone number to call the library to check on real time status of an item for patrons etc. Very useful for staff and patrons!

    Let's also have the library address be a clickable link that hops into google maps to navigate to the…

  10. For libraries with a large number of collection sites, it becomes labor-intensive to manually create entries for each site. It would improve workflow if an event could be assigned to multiple collections sites when it's being created. There could also be a "Global Event" type that would add it to all collections sites.

  11. When an 856 is in an Overdrive record, it converts to a resource entity in Polaris during the integration process. However, a library can certainly add their own 856 to the bib record after the fact (that will say something along the lines of “Click here to check out this title on the Overdrive site!”).

    A library added their own 856 tags, which caused an issue within Vega. When they are removed, the "GET IT" button shows; however, when they are in the MARC record, not only does the "Check Availability" button show instead of "GET ITEM", but the 856…

  12. We'd like the ability to suppress the cancel hold button from My Bookshelf. It's not possible for our patrons who place holds for interloans to cancel their holds for interloans from My Bookshelf. When they try to do so they retrieve a message in red text advising "!Requested resource was not found'. This is very confusing to our patrons. Suppressing the ability to do this would be very helpful, and would reduce patron confusion.

  13. Vega Discover currently allows for up to 7 global header custom links. Request is to allow for more possible links.

  14. We have configured a few of our custom header links to point to popular searches (ie. New Items, On Order, etc.). We are getting a lot of feedback from patrons that are frustrated by the number of new tabs that are created since these links always open in a new tab. I understand that these were likely designed this way because they were intended to link out to other pages. It would be great if there was a setting to apply to links that are internal to allow them to open in the same tab, streamlining the user experience.

  16. Similar to a feature BiblioCore offers, libraries want to see Lists that other libraries across the country/world are creating. Enhancement request could be to give libraries the ability to Share Showcases outside their organization.

  17. We would like any custom header and footer code to be active/enabled on the 404 page. This would add a seamless user experience no matter where the patron ends up on the website.

  18. It is standard website practice — and has been for over 15 years — to upload a sitemap for google and other search engines to ingest. This ability would help Google and others to index the catalog's contents within Vega, improving search result rankings (i.e. SEO) for Vega Discover catalog content.

  19. autorenewals and c:239

    Please allow items to be automatically renewable in the system without effort if the item isn't on hold.

    Also please reinstate the searching code to limit to North Chicago Public Library easily. In Encore we could put " DVD and C:239" to limit to our DVDs in one step.

  20. It would be great if there was a way to limit "Collections" on the main Discover search the same way you can limit on individual collection sites. In our particular use case, we have a single member library that has items in a collection that should only be visible on their collection site. Excluding that collection from all other collection sites is easy, but there isn't a way to do it on our main site. Thanks for your consideration!
