  1. Patrons have noted that when showcases feature a large number of items, they find it frustrating to navigate the full showcase Library List display. Several have asked about whether an option to switch to a grid view can be added, similar to the option that is available to them in the search results.

  3. For a better customer experience with our Chinese titles, we created some new non-MARC language codes in Sierra to separate out the Simplified and Traditional Chinese titles. Vega does not support non-MARC language codes, so it shows as codes instead of the label in Vega.

    We'd like to see Vega be able to pull codes from the LMS along with their label.

  4. Clicking on All Menu to get to All Links, displays an unattractive view with a big block of dark screen. Is it possible to get rid of this block of dark screen or make it visually more appealing.

Instead of only allowing a pickup location to be set as closed in Vega Discover for all libraries/branches, it would be helpful to be able to show a specific pickup location by a specific library/branch only. For example, we are a cooperative location. We are not a library. But our staff place holds to be picked up at our location. However, patrons accidentally choose our pickup location. On our old system, we were able to set it up so a particular pickup location would only display by OPAC profile (login). Can this functionality be added?

  7. We have a patron request to simplify the number of location and availability icons. Patrons are often confused and upset by the icons. They are upset at being confused, and eating up their time. The in-house availability icon is too small and gets lost on the page. The larger, initial icon causes a lot of confusion with seniors, parents, infrequent library uses.

  8. We’ve noticed that Discover doesn’t display the “recently returned” shelving status that comes from Polaris even though "Recently Returned" appears as an option in our Item Mapping list. "Recently Returned" is not a true item status in Polaris. The item status for recently returned items is actually “In” (which is how these items appear in Discover), but the database flags an item depending on whether or not it is also considered "recently returned."

    Discover offers its own perfectly good “recently returned” functionality, but it would be nice if the “Recently Returned” message that patrons see in Discover could match the…

  9. When a user clicks on the new Selection boxes for bulk holds, then clicks to the next page to view more search results, the selected titles do not persist. I would expect to be able to page through and add titles across all of the pages of the search before choosing to Place Holds.

    If the selections are limited to a single page of the search results, there should be a warning or prompt when you click to a subsequent page that gives you the option to place your holds before losing them.

  10. We'd like the ability for patrons to link their existing library card account with other authentication platforms such as Google, Microsoft, Apple, Linkedin, Facebook, etc.. This would provide ease of sign-in and enhanced security through features like multi-factor authentication (MFA). Patrons would register their existing library account with one of these integrations if they decided to move to this method. This has become common enough across the web that we've had patrons specifically ask for the ability to login with their Apple or Google account.

In the search bar, if someone types a query and their mouse happens to be below the search bar, when they press enter, it performs the search based on the suggested title or concept that was where the mouse was positioned. This unwanted autocompleting has confused me and others, and I've only just deduced the cause (I think). Most search engines don't do this behaviour, so people don't even think to consider the position of their mouse when typing a search into a search box. It has caused frustration for our librarians and patrons.

  13. We would like to be able to remove "advanced search" from the kids cat, however it appears that it is enabled across all the collection and kiosk sites if it is turned on. We would like to be able to enable it at the collection/kiosk site level if needed.

Currently in Vega Discover, adding an item to multiple lists requires you to go to your first list of items, select the particular item in the list and then multi select the lists that you want the item to be added into. Can there be a new feature to add items to multiple lists within the search results screen for streamlining purposes?

  15. This message appears when trying to freeze a reserved material that is in transit or has already arrived at the reservation shelf. Our Vega is in Swedish so we wish that this message can translate to Swedish and other languages.

  16. When editing the Manage Translations strings, it would be helpful to know where we could look at the context for strings and/or confirm that a change was implemented.

    For example, there are various "GET IT" strings, such as:
    "getFromAmazon": "Get from Amazon",
    "getIt": "GET IT",
    "getItBtn": "get it",
    "getItem": "Get Item",
    "getMaterial": "Get Material",
    "holdGetIt": "Get It"

    It would be helpful to have clarity on where/the context in which each of these is used.

  17. It appears that editing a site name after its creation is not feasible. While the "Library Name" can be modified, there seems to be a limitation in altering the displayed "Site name" in your list of configured locations. Please refer to the included image where the issue is highlighted in yellow.

  18. There are times when it makes sense to edit the pickup location text or reorganize the listing. Our consortia central offices processes ILL requests for the correctional facilities in our region and also recieves items in delivery for cataloging and staff requests. We are not open to the public. The pickup location is necessary as a selection, but we would like to move it to the end of the list and label it with "Staff Use Only", as we did in Encore. Another example is a temporary closure or access issue that could be communicated at the time of selection

  20. After selecting a showcase image on a carousel to read more and then selecting the back button when you are reading it would be nice to go back to the carousel rather than the home page.
