  3. We use Polaris and our old catalog showed the number of renewals remaining/available for patrons. We've heard from patrons and staff that this would be appreciated versus the current view (number of renewals taken). Thanks for considering!

  4. Support indexing subfield $t in the 7XX (added entry) and 6xx
Currently author title entries in the 700 subfield t are not searchable
RDA uses 700's in cases where there are multiple works together

  5. This is more for library staff, but when searching by a standard number for a specific format, to have the search results land on the correct tab in rollup. For example, searching an ISBN for an e-resource will currently take to rollup but the book tab selected and not on the e-resource tab.

  6. When patrons get a new barcode they currently lose access to their lists in Vega Discover. Lists should be tied to the PATRON ID not the barcode. Barcodes are temporary, IDs are the persistent identifier for a patron account and should not change.

Patrons replace library cards frequently. They get lost or damaged. Patrons move from one home library to another within the system. Patrons get a new card when libraries offer new designs.

  7. Add an alert feature to Vega Admin that will notify select users when an extraction fails. Currently, when an extraction fails in Vega Admin, there is no way to know unless you manually check the logs. This can be time-consuming and frustrating. By adding an alert feature, users will be notified immediately or on desired intervals when an extraction fails, allowing the user to take action quickly and minimize issues as a result of the failure.

  9. Add logic to Hold Cancelation Button so that:
    1. Holds that cannot be canceled do not display a cancel hold button.
    a. Particularly ILL type requests should be able to be configured to not allow cancelation button to display. Or to only allow until the ILL is shipped.
    b. Expired holds should be able to be configured to not allow cancelation button to display.
    c. An option should be available that causes all cancel buttons to be suppressed as well.

    1. Holds that can be canceled always display the Cancel button (some libraries allow trapped holds to be canceled and the…

  10. In the My Bookshelf Area, which includes Checkouts, Holds, Bookmarks, Saved Lists, Reading History and Showcases, it can be cumbersome for those patrons with large lists to view them. Patrons (and staff) are missing the ability to view multiple titles without having to scroll and would like the option to view these lists in a text format instead of what is currently available.

  11. This field is used for publisher’s/distributor’s numbers for video recordings, sound recordings (including audiobooks), and printed music. These numbers are important access points for these materials.

All 028 fields should be indexed, regardless of indicators.

  12. For example: If a patron searches for the author Noelle Stevenson, results for their established heading of ND Stevenson should come up.
or if Diwali is searched for, the established heading of Divali should be included in results.

  13. Please work with libraries to determine a way to add an "on order" facet. We ingest all bibliographic records before we receive the physical copies. Library users can also place holds on these "on order" bibliographic records. Library users want to distinguish between "recently received" by the library and "recently ordered" by the library.

  14. We have many titles that are collections of multiple titles, such as Binge Boxes, that are cataloged with multiple 520 (summary) fields to cover all the titles contained in the set. However, only the first MARC 520 summary field displays in Vega, which is difficult for customers who are trying to find all titles contained in the collection. The table of contents is buried in "edition information--details", which is very small and not obvious to the average customer, so they often don't know what titles the collection contains. This is also true for some short story collections and CD compilations.…

  15. We would like to see a new format of "Graphic Novel" which would not roll up with other books that have the same title and author. It could use the fixed fields in the MARC record when the 008 is for books with a 6 in "Nature of contents" (positions 24-27). This would help prevent us from having to add our own manufactured subtitles just to get certain graphic novels to stop rolling up with the book version.

Will create a Graphic Novel Work Type. Polaris is working on an enhancement for TOMs so that Polaris libraries can have a Graphic Novel format display on tabs in Vega.

  16. For titles with both a $a title and a $b subtitle. If the $a is an exact match for a search query that title should also be considered an exact match and boosted in the same way to the top of the search results.

When searching a word/phrase, results with an exact match of the search term(s) in the title of a search result should appear higher in search results than those with a partial match in the title due to 'stemming'. Example: Staff wrote in that they were searching for the book "Resolute" by Benjamin Hall and only the…

  17. The current functionality of Vega Discovery allows patrons to filter their search results by selecting one or more facets from the left-hand panel. However, there is no option to exclude results. For example, a patron who is looking for books on history may want to exclude ebooks or audiobooks from the results.

This enhancement request proposes to add an option to exclude content via facet selection and or other means. This would allow patrons to refine their search results more effectively and find the most relevant resources for their needs.

Adding an option to exclude content via facet selection would…

  18. Please index 245 subfield c for Vega searching. This would allow for broader author retrieval, especially when the name on the work doesn't match the controlled heading. For instance, "Tomb of Sand" cannot be retrieved by searching the author, Geetanjali Shree, as shown of the cover (and in 245 subfield c) because the controlled heading (100 field) is Gītāñjali, Śrī.

  19. Our customers want the ability to export their reading history. There should be options in the format it comes out in, including csv/excel.

They want this because they keep their own records due to our titles getting deleted after withdrawal, so their Vega list is no longer accurate for all their reading.
