Denote items from Reading History in catalog search
It could help patrons with extensive reading histories (e.g. patrons using outreach services for retirement homes etc.) improve their discovery journey when they are logged in, if items from their reading history were somehow denoted in search results as, for example, "already borrowed" or "borrowed in the past".

Titles for Deleted Items in Reading History
In the public catalog, titles in your reading history will say “Resource is not available” if the record has been deleted. In Leap, you can still see the titles, but it will tell you the resource is not available when you click on it. It would be great if Vega Discover could be set up like the staff interface so customers could see what the titles are even after the records have been deleted.

Creating a showcase from a record set ("ILS list") should have an option to dynamically pull titles from the current state of the record set
Right now, using the 'create from ILS list' feature to create a showcase from a record set creates a showcase with every record that is CURRENTLY in the record set. However, if records are later added or removed from the record set, they are not added/removed from the showcase. This means that the staff member often has to do the same work in two places.
If this change can't be made anytime soon, documentation should at least be updated to reflect that the 'create from ILS list' feature is taking a snapshot, not permanently linking a showcase to a record…

Material type sorting to show physical copies and DVDs first
Currently, Vega sorts book, eBook, large print, audio CD, and eAudio. I'm proposing we change this to book, large print, audio CD, then digital resources. Most patrons search for digital media via Libby rather than the main online catalog.
Additionally, putting DVDs before Blu-Ray would help lower the amount of patrons accidentally ordering Blu-Ray when they really wanted the DVD. Re-ordering this would lower the amount of accidental hold requests for the wrong media type.

Add shelf locations to Facets
We would like to have shelf location added as a facet in Vega in addition to collections. We use shelf locations for genres like Mystery, Urban Fiction, Science Fiction, and Graphic Novels that aren't reflected in our collection codes. There is currently no way for patrons to search by shelf location in Vega, so it's very frustrating for patrons trying to look for just Graphic Novels, for example. We would rather have shelf locations added as a facet than have to change all of our shelf locations to collections.

No Results - Customize Messaging/Offer Alternatives
When a patron gets no results and gets either the "did you mean?" or the search tips pages, would like a way to include some customized links to other options/services we offer, for example, our Interlibrary Loan and our Book Match services. Many patrons have no idea that if we don't own a title, we can get it for them via ILL. Or if they are just searching on a topic and not getting anything, perhaps our Book Match service may do the trick. Or just to tell users to speak with a reference librarian.

Item specific (not volume specific) holds
We understand that we are already supposed to be able to place volume level holds on materials. (It's not working for us, even when we have the volume info entered correctly, so we have reported it as a bug.) However, our staff and patrons would also like the ability for patrons to be able to place item level holds when there is NO volume info entered and the record is NOT a periodical or other serial.

Index volume record statements to be searchable
It has been requested to index volume record statements to be searchable as it was in Encore. We have local generic bibliographic records that to input alternate titles or other added entries in the bib record would not appropriate; however, if volume statements were searchable, patrons and library members alike could locate desired resources.

Ability to assign or group target ages into a specific age group facet w/o manipulating records
We'd like to have ability to change the mapping of the Audn: Target audience (BKS, COM, REC, SCO, VIS: 008/22; 006/05) to a specific age group facet. For example, many catalog records have a blank assigned for target audience. Search results will include these records but they fall out when the "general" facet is selected. We do not want to manipulate these records to "g" when [blank] is a valid option. Also, we'd like the ability to group the target audience a (preschool), b (primary), and c (pre-adolescent) under j (juvenile) without manipulating the catalog records in our database.

Due Date Display
It would be helpful to display due date(s) for item(s) in the location drawer. This would enable staff and patrons to see this info in one step when they select the item's location.

Assign specific stat group for Sierra REST API Requests
We would like for Vega to allow specifying a statistics group w/Sierra REST API requests similar to what the III mobile app does.
Vega has never sent a statistics group with Sierra REST API requests (ex. renewals) and the current behavior is that the request is logged under statistics group 0. We only learned of this - up until recently, the requests were actually falling under the stat group assigned for our Classic WebPAC web transactions.
We would prefer keeping stat group 0 for issues/errors (bad login used for SDA, i.e., no locations served assigned) vs. certain Vega transactions.

Clearer messaging when no email is present in the patron's account
A patron was trying to do a password reset, and we had to use the old PAC to realize that they had no email address in their account, since the messaging there clearly states the issue. Vega Discover just says the email 'failed to send'. Please update this messaging to more closely match the old PAC.

Add shelf location to library holdings for each edition
We would like to have the option to include the shelf location for each item that is listed within each edition. It is much easier to identify when an item is, for example, a New item when a patron happens to be looking at holdings in this way.

Filter by Location Limits Updates the Roll-Up Results
When a patron applies a location filter to Discover search results, the edition and items are limited to the location(s) selected.
The roll-up tabs are updated to remove items and editions at other locations.
The filtering is passed to Vega Mobile so the filtering experience matches.

Allow Vega Discover to accept initials or partial names in author searches.
Patrons and staff wonder why Vega Discover requires them to type the author’s full name and doesn’t use a wildcard, for example, to extrapolate the end of the author’s name. The current search only works if the author name matches exactly.
For example, if someone is searching for books by Daniel Kalla:
Kalla - 19 results
Kalla D - 0 results
Kalla Dan - 0 results

Let Vega use information from order records in ILS.
As of now Vega doesn´t look at the order records in the ILS. We have set the system to allow holds on bib-records with no items attached for books. That in turn displays "On order" in Vega. This method has some complications but works for the most part since there usually are orders on these bibs. But we would like it to also display how many items are ordered. It helps inform our patrons if it´s worth placing a hold on the title.
In the example (offer) I´ve included we have a new book with 8 copies ordered. If that…

Allow patrons to add or modify "username" field value
Patrons currently lack the ability to add or modify the "username" field value (Polaris Registration field with Polaris) in Vega Discover. Historically, patrons had this capability, but after updating to Vega Discover, we disabled it due to its non-editable nature. However, due to significant feedback from patrons, we have re-enabled this feature. Please note that enabling it now requires manual IT intervention through SQL adjustments. Once we transition to a hosted environment, this manual adjustment will no longer be feasible. Therefore, it's crucial for patron access to our catalog, public machines, and express check that this functionality remains intact.

Cover Art for Rollups
With multiple records rolling up, sometimes the default cover art image isn't necessarily the most appropriate (i.e. showing a very specific version of Hamlet that not all libraries own rather than a more generic version). Since Vega is pulling the cover art from the record with the most recent copyright/publishing date, the only way to prevent an image from populating is to falsify the 020 in the most recent record (I've been in touch with Syndetics about this). It would be nice if there was a way that libraries could a) manually select a different image if needed, b) remove…

Creating a Username in Vega Discover
Currently in the PAC, patrons are allowed to create a special username in place of library card barcode to sign in and use the account. However, Vega Discover does not have the functionality to go into My Bookshelf for example, and create a username for their account within the patron's settings. Is this functionality that can be added to the newer catalog in order to ensure that all patrons can have access to that feature?
