  1. In Vega, we can email saved lists/bookmarks to our emails, but that generates a link and if you try to print the list, it only prints what you are looking at, not the whole list.

    It would be very helpful to be able to print the whole saved list.

  2. Allow patrons to automate holds for new releases from their favorite authors. Patrons should be able to select their favorite authors to be automatically placed on hold for new releases or acquisitions from that author. Vega discover could also provide statistics on which authors have the most holds, allowing libraries the ability to improve purchasing for popular authors. This would provide an improved solution to a popular program offered by many libraries.

  3. 600 Subject added entry - personal name headings are currently displaying as Contributors/Persons. This is making it difficult to find additional resources ABOUT a person. When the person appears in the Subject field, they are not really a contributor, they are the Subject. Displaying these headings as Contributors is confusing. I believe this is on the roadmap but it would be nice to see this addressed sooner than later.

  5. Patrons replace library cards frequently. They get lost or damaged. Patrons move from one home library to another within the system. Patrons get a new card when libraries offer new designs.

  6. Most OverDrive titles beginning with an article (The, A, An) do not rollup properly due to Metadata not identifying a skip on these characters. As a main feature of Discover, it is frustrating that such a large amount of titles do not rollup with properly cataloged physical materials.

  7. Currently, when a user gets to the end of the configured images, they have to use the back arrow. It would be a better user experience if the hero carousel navigated to the first image.

  8. Many libraries feature "browsing" collections which are not holdable, but are available for customer checkout. Currently, the only means to suppress the Place Hold button is via item status code (In Library Use, etc). However, there is not a means to suppress the button for those non-holdable collections that have a Check Shelves status, as Discover does not recognize ILS-based configurations such as ASAA (Sierra).

    The ability to suppress the Place Holds button based on additional codes - such as location or itype - would provide an effective workaround for these types of collections.

  10. We are finding that our patrons rely on seeing where they are in the holds queue to make decisions about keeping a hold active and have gotten used to this feature in Polaris PowerPAC.

  11. We are still at the stage where we have to request search statistics, and the data is somewhat limited in nature:

    Currently, the two types of statistical overviews available are:

    1. A count of all visits* to any page over the desired time period.

    2. A count of all visits* to search results that were done over the desired time period.

    *The reports don't call them visits; they are called visitors. No idea if they are unique visitors?

    There are pageviews (down in lower right of screen shot) but support staff doesn't always include this information, seem to focus on just sending…

  12. Keep the search bar throughout ALL Discover pages. Similar to Google or any search engine - it should always be at the top and would make searching more convenient because it would avoid having to navigate back to the home page of the catalog.

  13. We need to be able to search by song title when searching for music cds or for sheet music books.
    It also its hard not be able to see the track listing for compilation albums (the Now cds for instance).
    We have patrons complain about this weekly.

  14. When I check to see how many copies of an Overdrive title the library has, you can only see how many holds have been placed on that title, but not how many copies there are. This causes confusion because it seems like the library has no copies of that title. In the attached picture example, you can see that the 'Atomic Habits' eAudiobook has 48 holds on it, but it says there are no copies. There are actually 5 copies. This issue is true with every Overdrive title, except for when the title is available to check out.

  15. 690 $v is currently ignored upon ingest, causing Local Subject entries to disregard subheadings in Concept displays. We're attempting to create showcases based on saved concept searches for some of our local collections, rather than needing to manually updated showcases as new items are added. Subcollections with subject heading like Diversity Collection -- Asian/Pacific Islander literature, Diversity Collection -- Latinx literature, and Diversity Collection -- LGBTQIA+ literature all display under the concept Diversity Collection in Discover.

  16. StackMap is an indoor mapping web application that helps patrons easily locate library resources including material, subjects wayfinding, rooms and public PCs in real-time. At this time, VEGA does not seem to support this application, but it does work in the default Polaris catalog.

  17. The current 250-character limit in Vega Discover's announcement feature significantly restricts our ability to convey essential, detailed information in a single message. This limitation is particularly challenging when addressing complex situations that impact multiple services. Our public relations team is compelled to create multiple, shortened versions of the same announcement to fit this constraint, leading to an inefficient communication process that does not align with the capabilities of modern CMS platforms.

Clearer wording for the "Request Failed" box that displays when a patron attempts to place a hold on an item for which they are already on the hold list (this is prohibited in our implementation). This version of the Request Failed box says "couldn't find suitable edition for the request." Despite the new green alert bar indicating the hold status of the item, this error box wording would not likely be intuitive to our patrons.

  19. A customer has provided feedback that by being able to see what checked out titles on their bookshelf had holds placed against them would help them prioritise their reading, e.g., if they knew a title was going to renew or not, or had holds on it, they would read that title first.

  20. For example, patrons see a home branch, a registered branch, and a preferred pickup location. With our Polaris ILS, patrons don't actually have a home branch, so it looks like this just gets populated with their registered branch. Some patrons and staff have expressed confusion over this - it would be nice to be able to choose what fields from the patron registration display to the patron on their profile. Since we're a consortium, it would be especially nice if this could be controlled at the collection site level, rather than the higher level.
