  1. When in the children's catalog, the Vega & Syndetics sections (Related Resources, Topics, etc) in the records should ideally only display children's titles. As an example, right now, when I pull up the Diary of a Wimpy Kid DVD, I'm seeing the Where'd You Go Bernadette DVD under Related Resources and A Man Called Otto DVD in Topics. We don't want to direct children toward adult titles.

It would actually be great to also be able to hide any adult items from Related Resources, Topics, etc. anytime a record for children's material is being viewed, whether in the main Vega…

  2. Right now, when you search something like Jane Eyre (see screenshot), which has multiple editions, some of which are part of a "series", Vega Discover arbitrarily displays one of those series statements in the roll-up. We would like it to NOT display the series info when it doesn't apply to all editions of a work, since the roll-up is supposed to reflect what all the editions have in common, not just one particular edition's series info. It could likely make the user think, incorrectly, that if they place a hold, they will get that edition in that series, when in…

  3. 690 $v is currently ignored upon ingest, causing Local Subject entries to disregard subheadings in Concept displays. We're attempting to create showcases based on saved concept searches for some of our local collections, rather than needing to manually updated showcases as new items are added. Subcollections with subject heading like Diversity Collection -- Asian/Pacific Islander literature, Diversity Collection -- Latinx literature, and Diversity Collection -- LGBTQIA+ literature all display under the concept Diversity Collection in Discover.

  4. Consortias often use Item Date to identify 'New Materials' by member library rather than 'Cat Date' or 'First Available Date' at the Bib Level for new titles. Consortias need an option to use an item level date so that 'new materials' can be correctly identified at the member library level.

  5. Recently at the Strategic partner meeting it was discussed that the current Hoopla integration will be developed further so that pre-defined MARC records lists of top 100’s or Top 500’s could be imported and displayed.
I would like to see this taken a step further and have the option for Hoopla materials to display on the roll up if there is a match to the existing physical holdings rather than the current all or nothing option.
This would really help customers when they are looking to get hold of materials as fast as possible, and in addition will help market…

  6. Currently, when I library is temporarily closed for a renovation, we noticed different behavior in Discover vs. the PAC when it comes to default pickup location. We think the way it used to work is better.

In Discover that patrons registered to that library (who have no preferred pick up location) set on their profile... Discover will default to the first one alphabetically. This is a problem for us as a consortium because now patrons are clicking through and sending things to the library that starts with A for pickup. Yes, they can select another one, but most will just…

  8. When patrons try to place a hold on something they already have placed a hold on, instead of getting a message that they already have a hold, they receive the message,
"Your request for this material was unsuccessful
Couldn't find suitable edition for the request"

We would like to be able to edit this message to let them know they already have a hold and cannot place a second hold on the same record.

  9. Can you possibly index the volume sub field within the record in order to make the searching of books within a series a bit more efficient? For example, searching Dog Man 6 and getting volume 6 of Dog Man within our results.

  10. Right now, our library has to go through multiple steps to see useful information (like table of contents) or cannot see some detailed information (such as bib notes that we use to give customers/staff additional information about titles.)

For example, when someone clicks on a title, you then have to select the “i” to display the item’s listings, and then click again to see an items table of contents. It would make the most sense for everything that is in the details, be included in that initial edition display.

And similarly, we are not able to see the item’s 500a…

  11. When I check to see how many copies of an Overdrive title the library has, you can only see how many holds have been placed on that title, but not how many copies there are. This causes confusion because it seems like the library has no copies of that title. In the attached picture example, you can see that the 'Atomic Habits' eAudiobook has 48 holds on it, but it says there are no copies. There are actually 5 copies. This issue is true with every Overdrive title, except for when the title is available to check out.

  12. Please enhance the functionality of pickup areas in Leap/PAC according to this idea: https://ideas.iii.com/forums/951742-ils-polaris/suggestions/47671613-allow-enabling-disabling-of-pickup-areas-per-libra

Then add the functionality to Vega Discover!

  13. Clearer wording for the "Request Failed" box that displays when a patron attempts to place a hold on an item for which they are already on the hold list (this is prohibited in our implementation). This version of the Request Failed box says "couldn't find suitable edition for the request." Despite the new green alert bar indicating the hold status of the item, this error box wording would not likely be intuitive to our patrons.

The version of the Request Failed box that displays when the item is currently on the hold shelf for that patron says "request denied -…

  14. 'On Order Availability Facet - Allow users to limit searches to materials that are On Order' is on the roadmap for "later". We would love to see this added, including the ability to sort results by order date. We have developed a workaround by creating Material Types for On Order to allow these items to be searched and placed on hold; however, none of the existing sort options allow users to easily navigate these results. Users would like to be able to see newly ordered items appear first in the list so that they can check back regularly to see…

  15. For example, patrons see a home branch, a registered branch, and a preferred pickup location. With our Polaris ILS, patrons don't actually have a home branch, so it looks like this just gets populated with their registered branch. Some patrons and staff have expressed confusion over this - it would be nice to be able to choose what fields from the patron registration display to the patron on their profile. Since we're a consortium, it would be especially nice if this could be controlled at the collection site level, rather than the higher level.

  16. When a patron applies a location filter to Discover search results, the edition and items are limited to the location(s) selected.

The roll-up tabs are updated to remove items and editions at other locations.

The filtering is passed to Vega Mobile so the filtering experience matches.

  17. It would be helpful that when displaying topics that only childrens titles appeared on childrens materials. Here is an example of topics gone bad: https://wkkids-wauk.na5.iiivega.com/search/card?id=282fcc98-e8d7-528f-9ced-72bf0e756c6f&entityType=FormatGroup

  18. Patrons have requested the ability to see an estimated wait time for their holds from their Holds Summary screen. Currently, they see where they are in line, but there is no indication as to the number of potential copies to fill the hold. If they are #5 in line, and there are 5 copies, this item will arrive soon, but if there is only 1 copy, it could be another couple of months before it arrives. For heavy library users, having a rough estimated date helps them decide what holds to freeze or unfreeze, and manage their holds better. This…

  19. We've had customers and staff point out that at times, shelf location information could be more visible in Vega results. In particular, we wondered if it would be possible to use bold type for the shelf location information on the search result page on the kiosk sites, in addition to the call number.

Also, when you go to the detailed information that lists the call number, collection, and shelf location information, we thought perhaps, when the shelf location information is available, it might help if it was listed above the call number.

    Thanks for your consideration!

  20. Our libraries have requested that the "circ date" from the classic catalog be also displayed in Vega. As displayed in the screenshots, what the catalog calls the "circ date" is actually the last activity date in the item record in Polaris. This way staff and patrons know when an item last went in transit or enroute to a patron or was checked in/out. Ideally, it could either display in the Edition information area or in the Location drawer (both pictured in screenshots below).
