  3. Right now, using the 'create from ILS list' feature to create a showcase from a record set creates a showcase with every record that is CURRENTLY in the record set. However, if records are later added or removed from the record set, they are not added/removed from the showcase. This means that the staff member often has to do the same work in two places.

    If this change can't be made anytime soon, documentation should at least be updated to reflect that the 'create from ILS list' feature is taking a snapshot, not permanently linking a showcase to a record…

  4. With Encore we could select how our branches (collections) sorted. With 39 locations this is important to us. Ideally there would be a synch between the patrons "home library" and the top branch, but for now, we would appreciate the ability to sort locations alphabetically. Seeing a differently ordered list after each search reduces usability.

  5. We have noticed several instances where unrelated titles roll-up together. We have noticed it the most in travel books. It seems to be a problem whenever we don't use a 1XX Marc Fields in a record and several items have the same 245, or in records where the 1XX field and 245 are the same but are in fact different books. Travel books are a problem, but I've seen this in items where there is a adult and juvenile or teen version of an item, where a classic book has a graphic novelization or even in two completely unrelated items…

  6. On Order items and non-circulating items with holdings records (e.g. newspapers) do not appear in the search results on collection sites for consortia setup. Rather, they only appear in the search results for the global site.

Clearer wording for the "Request Failed" box that displays when a patron attempts to place a hold on an item for which they are already on the hold list (this is prohibited in our implementation). This version of the Request Failed box says "couldn't find suitable edition for the request." Despite the new green alert bar indicating the hold status of the item, this error box wording would not likely be intuitive to our patrons.

  9. It would be nice to have a link in Vega Discover to report incorrect images and have a status note once its been reported so multiple reports are not being submitted for same image. Contact information seems to change often and can get a bit frustrating to get resolved.

  10. 'On Order Availability Facet - Allow users to limit searches to materials that are On Order' is on the roadmap for "later". We would love to see this added, including the ability to sort results by order date. We have developed a workaround by creating Material Types for On Order to allow these items to be searched and placed on hold; however, none of the existing sort options allow users to easily navigate these results. Users would like to be able to see newly ordered items appear first in the list so that they can check back regularly to see…

It would be very useful for consortia managers to be able to copy the homepage configuration, global header, and potentially other settings from the main site/parent domain to kiosks and collection sites or from any type of site to another. Or, similarly, to be able to simply duplicate a site and then edit it from there.

    This would save a lot of time when trying to create multiple sites that are harmonious in appearance and experience but distinct in content.

  12. Consortias often use Item Date to identify 'New Materials' by member library rather than 'Cat Date' or 'First Available Date' at the Bib Level for new titles. Consortias need an option to use an item level date so that 'new materials' can be correctly identified at the member library level.

  13. Recently at the Strategic partner meeting it was discussed that the current Hoopla integration will be developed further so that pre-defined MARC records lists of top 100’s or Top 500’s could be imported and displayed.
    I would like to see this taken a step further and have the option for Hoopla materials to display on the roll up if there is a match to the existing physical holdings rather than the current all or nothing option.
    This would really help customers when they are looking to get hold of materials as fast as possible, and in addition will help market…

  14. Some of our patrons, those who are teachers or book club leaders, for example, borrow multiple copies of the same title on their library account. They need to control the return of such materials and do so by barcode. Unfortunately, Vega Discover doesn't display the item barcode in the Checkouts information in My Bookshelf. Please add the item barcode# to the Checkouts data in My Bookshelf.

  17. When a user searches Vega Discover and has not applied a format filter we should not automatically select the first available format when frequently used formats such as book are unavailable (all copies circulating) because this can cause confusion resulting in an undesired request on the wrong format of a title.

    A format tab other than the first default format should only be selected when a user has applied a format filter.

  18. I think that ingesting name authority records into Vega Discover would improve capturing name tracings in the 400 field, so that for example if Samuel Langhorne Clemens is searched, Mark Twain's works will also appear etc.

  19. When staff create showcases and then are no longer with the library, there is no way the Admin can "take over" the showcase to maintain it. The only option is to delete the showcase and re-create it. Same with saved searches. If a reference librarian has created a saved search but leaves the library, search would have to be re-created.
