  1. Patrons replace library cards frequently. They get lost or damaged. Patrons move from one home library to another within the system. Patrons get a new card when libraries offer new designs.

  2. Some customers only want hold pickup notifications. Others want hold pickup and overdue but not courtesy notices. I believe the fact that notices are all or nothing is a BIG reason why our emails get marked as spam. Please allow patrons to select which notices they receive. Even better, allow staff to decide if a notice is optional. For example, we understand if patrons don't want courtesy notices, but we will always send a bill becasue their borrowing privileges are blocked by then.

  3. An advanced search feature should make Boolean search options visible with drop-down menus to assist in constructing custom queries. The Boolean elements should be simply a series of drop-down search filters. Most advanced search engines use this functionality and, this is easy for a customer to use.

  4. It would be very useful for consortia managers to be able to copy the homepage configuration, global header, and potentially other settings from the main site/parent domain to kiosks and collection sites or from any type of site to another. Or, similarly, to be able to simply duplicate a site and then edit it from there.

    This would save a lot of time when trying to create multiple sites that are harmonious in appearance and experience but distinct in content.

  7. We recently received a request to add a list format option for the bookmarks tab. A patron stated that they wanted, "A list format option of looking at the titles with visible author, pub date, brief description as it was in the old catalog". This could be similar to our options when searching to switch from list to grid view.

  8. Patrons have requested the ability to see an estimated wait time for their holds from their Holds Summary screen. Currently, they see where they are in line, but there is no indication as to the number of potential copies to fill the hold. If they are #5 in line, and there are 5 copies, this item will arrive soon, but if there is only 1 copy, it could be another couple of months before it arrives. For heavy library users, having a rough estimated date helps them decide what holds to freeze or unfreeze, and manage their holds better. This…

  9. If there are no circulating items available and there are no open orders attached, we would like the status in edition information to display as not available instead of on order. On order is confusing when there are no open orders attached to the bib.

  10. Currently, when a user gets to the end of the configured images, they have to use the back arrow. It would be a better user experience if the hero carousel navigated to the first image.

  11. The 008 is the field we would prefer to use for the language facet and no other field. The 008 only field is consistently used in all our records. We stopped using the 240 fields in bib records, because that caused problems in Vega. The only time we use the 041 is when a title is bilingual. It would be a huge amount of work to update all our bib records. It is complicated how it currently works, and search results are confusing.

  14. Currently, when viewing a roll-up that has no cover image, the format text stays the same regardless of which tab you click on. This results in, for example, the cover still saying Emagazine when you click on the Periodical tab (examples attached). If the image could update and say Periodical when you click on the Periodical tab, this would be less confusing for patrons.

  16. In a consortium, the default is the name of the account of the consortium. This is confusing because the consortium name might be the name or nickname of a single library in the consortium. Patrons do not recognize the email address (no-reply@iiivega.com) or library name listed (Bett). Ability to customize the message would allow each library to use their own branded name.

  17. We are still at the stage where we have to request search statistics, and the data is somewhat limited in nature:

    Currently, the two types of statistical overviews available are:

    1. A count of all visits* to any page over the desired time period.

    2. A count of all visits* to search results that were done over the desired time period.

    *The reports don't call them visits; they are called visitors. No idea if they are unique visitors?

    There are pageviews (down in lower right of screen shot) but support staff doesn't always include this information, seem to focus on just sending…

  18. The following three status are currently used in Vega:

    Available
    Checked Out
    Unavailable

    While Available and Checked Out provide good information for patrons. Unavailable does not. We'd love to be able to map additional Polaris Circulation Statuses either for display or as an addendum to Unvailable.

    Primarily the Polaris Circulation Statuses for Held, On Order, and In Process are valuable at-a-glance information for patrons to have.

    Given that multiple items can be on a single record there would need to be a ranking system for some statuses.

  20. I would suggest the following change for Hoopla integration for consortium sites.

    1. allow the API to auto-load/update the subset of records that Hoopla can provide, rather than the entire collection of 1.5M items

    I understand this will require coordination with the Hoopla vendor, so I also understand this will not be easy or fast. :)
