order the contents of facets by # of hits or alphabetically
With Encore we could select how our branches (collections) sorted. With 39 locations this is important to us. Ideally there would be a synch between the patrons "home library" and the top branch, but for now, we would appreciate the ability to sort locations alphabetically. Seeing a differently ordered list after each search reduces usability.

Consortia and Hoopla Integration Within Vega
We are part of a consortium and have an enhancement request, specifically for our hoopla integration. Currently, we have to choose 1 library ID for title ingestion (Solano) and can choose a separate library ID for circulation (St Helena, for example). We choose the least restrictive library catalog to ingest all titles and then circulate based on the individual library. This causes patrons to be able to see titles that are in fact unavailable to them/not borrowable at their individual member library. We have a few libraries using Comics Plus, and they have requested that we integrate these materials into Vega. I understand that they do have an API.

further integrate Hoopla for consortium sites
I would suggest the following change for Hoopla integration for consortium sites.
- allow the API to auto-load/update the subset of records that Hoopla can provide, rather than the entire collection of 1.5M items
I understand this will require coordination with the Hoopla vendor, so I also understand this will not be easy or fast. :)

Augment Vega search functionality
We conducted a test search for the following book title term:
fable haven
(The actual book / series title is Fabelhaven)It returns 13 results in our catalog, none of which are Fablehaven, nor did it suggest a “Did you mean fablehaven?" (Searching "fable haven" in quotes as an exact search returns 0 results, as it should).
It seems that the Vega search engine should be able to find relevant search results when this term is combined into one word, or should at least suggest “Did you mean fablehaven” in the case of searching fable haven as two words and…

Home Page: The hero should loop
Currently, when a user gets to the end of the configured images, they have to use the back arrow. It would be a better user experience if the hero carousel navigated to the first image.

Make the language facet use the language from 008 field only
The 008 is the field we would prefer to use for the language facet and no other field. The 008 only field is consistently used in all our records. We stopped using the 240 fields in bib records, because that caused problems in Vega. The only time we use the 041 is when a title is bilingual. It would be a huge amount of work to update all our bib records. It is complicated how it currently works, and search results are confusing.

Randomize Showcase Displays
Showcases can only be sorted chronologically by publication date or alphabetically by title. We'd like to have 'random' as an option, so that the showcase would be sorted randomly each time the page / showcase loads.

Option to suppress holds postition in queue in patron account
We would like to have the option to suppress the patron's holds position in the queue from displaying. We don't have it display in our current PAC and we don't want it to display in Vega either due to it being misleading since the algorithm prioritizes a library's own patrons first which often changes the order.

Remove Grey Cover Images for Titles Not In Collection
In the "more in this series" area provided by syndetics, a grey cover image is displayed if the title does not exist in the collection. This creates confusion for the patron who sees a title that isn't there. When clicked on, it takes the patron to a keyword search, which creates even more confusion. We would like this to be optional. Right now, there is no way to turn off grey cover images without taking away a large part of Discover functionality. add 505$t should be included in title search
The 505$t subfield should be included in the title search.
Here is an example of a situation where that is valuable. If a library user is searching for Kurt Vonnegut's "Cat's Cradle" and uses the Title search, they will only find the actual work "Cat's Cradle". However, this book is also contained in short story compilations. They will miss this short story compilation which may better suit their reading needs.

Improve Locations Facet in Themed Kids Catalog
In the kid’s catalog version of Vega Discover for consortium use we are currently unable to neatly organize the location codes needed to limit the content to solely JUV materials. There can be many JUV codes in use for a single library which can be confusing for the patron if they’re looking for a specific library in the Locations facet.
Level 1 (library) codes do not appear in the Locations facet, even if the Level 2 (branch) codes are nestled under them. Being able to have a single location option for each library would be beneficial for the patron’s experience…
