  1. We use a custom URL search.bccls.org that patrons are accustomed to. When they go to do a password reset or other account related things they are redirected to the na4 URL which causes concern. We would like to submit an idea that custom URLs remain consistent throughout the Vega Discover experience.

  2. We would like to add the ability for users to see the item description within the List view of searches. Specifically the summary (520 field) that is included in records similar to the way that the PAC displays items.

  3. Currently, when you allow patrons to edit patron profile fields like Email address, phone numbers, etc., you can Edit and Add. We don't want our patrons to Add in some cases, like Email, because when the patron does this in Vega, that means an additional z-tagged field in the record. Until Vega allows LX notices to go to more than 1 z-tagged field, we don't want patrons adding one and then wondering why they didn't get the notice to the e-mail address they just added.   5. In the "more in this series" area provided by syndetics, a grey cover image is displayed if the title does not exist in the collection. This creates confusion for the patron who sees a title that isn't there. When clicked on, it takes the patron to a keyword search, which creates even more confusion. We would like this to be optional. Right now, there is no way to turn off grey cover images without taking away a large part of Discover functionality.   6. I have had a couple of libraries ask me about this:

    will we be able to use the abbreviations from advanced search like in Encore in Vega? i.e. c:117 limits to my library, f:a. I use that all the time to help patrons and find resources quicker both in Sierra and Encore.

    For further clarity:

    Some libraries like to use the shortcut codes—once you know them, it’s faster and easier than using the facets to narrow down your search.

    We would like to have additional Availability options for our descriptions. Currently it is a binary available/unavailable, but we would like an On-Order option for materials that are on-order.

  10. After the daylight savings time ended in November, our scheduled MARC extractions moved back an hour (from 10 pm to 9 pm).

  11. Patrons are finding it less intutive to delete items from their saved lists with the "Remove from List" link almost hidden in the very top right corner of the screen.

    Each item in a saved list has a box around the image, the share button and select button are there. We also think the delete button, perhaps as garbage can icon, should be there as well.

    (The "Remove From List" button can still be in the top right, if multiple items are selected, but for one-off deletions it should be easier and more clear how to do it).

  12. Now that the Citation function has been improved to include the ability to copy or email, we are happy to have it as an option for patrons. Please allow us to set a from email for this as patrons will be confused by the no-reply@iiivega.com email address.

    The same goes for the Share/Email option.

    Even better, add Citation and Resource Page sharing to LX Starter so that we could customize a branded template for these patron-initiated emails.

  13. Magazine issues do not display in the My Bookshelf checkouts and holds. If someone checks out many issues over a period of a couple of days or weeks, they have no idea which issue may be overdue or coming due.

  14. Currently, the only way to remove an item from a list is by clicking into the list itself and selecting the materials. Since the All Available Bookmarks feature is the first in the Bookmarks tab, it makes sense that there would also be an option to remove materials there.

  16. Have the options to reset PINs via text message. Patrons without an email address in their record get an error message that an email couldn't be sent. There are a lot of patrons who do not like to give out their email, so having the reset link send via text would be useful.

  17. In the Localization settings configuration page, all languages listed can be selected or unselected except for English (US). Although we can make a different one the default, for those countries wanting to have a different English option (CA in our case), we have no option but having two English languages listed in the drop down menu. We would like to be able to suppress the English (US) option.

  18. Currently when a showcase is published, that showcase shows up for any titles that are in it, even if that showcase is for a different Library/collection site. The ability should be added to limit the display of showcases to only certainly collection sites, such as only a Library's own collection/kiosk sites. This would be most useful in an consortium.

  19. In the kid’s catalog version of Vega Discover for consortium use we are currently unable to neatly organize the location codes needed to limit the content to solely JUV materials. There can be many JUV codes in use for a single library which can be confusing for the patron if they’re looking for a specific library in the Locations facet.

    Level 1 (library) codes do not appear in the Locations facet, even if the Level 2 (branch) codes are nestled under them. Being able to have a single location option for each library would be beneficial for the patron’s experience…

  20. The bulk holds and bulk bookmarking features are very helpful. This would be more user-friendly if the "Select All", "Add to List" and "Place Holds" buttons were repeated at the bottom of the page. This would allow the user to scroll down through the list and make selections and then act upon those selections when they reach the bottom of the page, before clicking on to the next page.
